Raula Kedar - The holy shrine every Hindu should visit once in lifetime. Surnaya-2,Baitadi Nepal.

Raula Kedar as the name indicates itself, Kedar is another name given to Lord Shiva. As the lord of Hills and Himalayas resides in the rolling hills of Nepal, Raula kedar also lies in Surnaya Rural Municipality of Baitadi district.
We can reach as well as return here from Patan bajar within one day. It takes a few hours on wheels and we have to undergo the hike of 4/5 hours further. We have to hike steep uphill from Kedarmandu till the top where the God of hills,Raula Kedar dwells.
It was so fun reaching the top through the dense Rhododendron forest, narrow trails and most interestingly steep paths. And Of course! This divine destination of Raula Kedar is not for those faint-hearted ones. We must have an immense level of beliefs as well as courage to make it to the top.
In order to pay our holy visit to the top of Raula Kedar, one should be pure with his heart, body and should have cleansed body and he/she should not have consumed eggs, meats, and fishes for few days ahead of the trip. As the results of this belief, fewer visitors tend to reach there. But these days people are visiting Raula Kedar from different parts of India as well as from Nepal.
The 360 views offered here is total WOW! One must visit this amazing place at least once in a lifetime. The pristine nature and a hillock where the shrine is located stands at an altitude of 2600 meters from the sea-level.
According to the myths, a King from Paneru dynasty used to live their decades ago. He used to be a cruel ruler who wanted to feed on villagers' crops and fruits. Everything from crops to beautiful women, the villagers have to present to the King. In the course of time, a man from Mahara village got a call from God in his dreams and God had directed him to kill that demon-like King. That very man implemented all the rules and ideas and killed him by climbing a rocky hill. After that, Raula Kedar was worshiped as God has taken holy steps for the welfare of villagers and well-being. Today, local people worship here seasonally as Raula Kedar had protected villagers from the cruel regime of Paneru King.
Another interesting thing regarding this holy hillock is that we have put off our shoes and slippers 15-20 minutes below the top. It is a tradition and basically a gesture as huge respect to Gods and Goddesses; there to walk for a few minutes with our bare feet to reach the holy premises. Our team from Nepal Calls You had hired two local boys as guides. These boys were awesome that they entertained us throughout our journey. From providing basic details and beliefs to singing local songs and saying Gajal they were adept at it.
If you fancy being in the hills and worshiping Lord Shiva in the tranquil as well as pristine environments amid the verdant vegetation and above the clouds, Raula Kedar is your must-visit destination.
