I had myself one of these cameras back in the day. Looking at videos I shot back around 2003 and 2004, it’s like a time capsule. The videos from iPhones today are so much more better in quality , but this oldschool look brings back so many memories of when I was a teenager and shot skateboard videos and short movies.
Early days of smartphones like the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS they had worse quality than those analog Super vhs camcorders so it wasn’t bad if people was still using camcorders in 2009/2010.
i did not think of retro cams much untill i found your channel/ i have a sony HC32 with a broken screen, was looking it up on youtube at one point and ran into your review of it...now i have a minor obsession with the old video cameras. thanks alot man and keep on growing, love your style and reviews!
Yes the hc32 I used also has a broken screen. The touch screen doesn’t work and I think that is a pretty common problem with that model and similar ones.
This camera is very sentimental to me. It wasn't just my first handheld video camera, but it was a video camera my mother got for me around late 2003. About a week or two before my birthday. I remember all of this well. I was 16 turning 17. Anyway, some asshole stole it around 2005. I wasn't able to really put much thought into replacing it until i was 34 or so. I grabbed mine off Ebay on a gamble as it was "untested" for 25 bucks but the darn thing worked! I have the same braned battery replacement you have.
hey i have a jvc 700x digital zoom camcorder. my viewfinder is a bright white and I can almost make things out through it but not really. is the viewfinder messed up? or is there a way to see through it normally
Hey dude I've got a problem with a similar model.. the 755u. Basically it records the audio, but it's just blue screen. 🟦 I can't figure out how to get the picture to come in 😭😭 Is there something I'm not seeing? Or is something wrong with my camera?
I want to say the tape heads are just dirty. Usually when you have a blue screen in playback while trying to play the video. The tape heads are usually just dirty so you could buy a cleaning tape if you can find one or you can follow the steps I do in this video: [How To] Best Way To Clean Tape Heads On Any Camcorder th-cam.com/video/wfKcMoWL0pU/w-d-xo.html
Hey, so I have this exact JVC camera. How do you get the record button to work? I've been trying for a long time with no luck. I found a PDF of the user manual but it's not giving much information. Edit: Also your discord server link no longer works.
A lot of people are having issues with my discord link 🤔 I’m not sure why. But as for your camera. Does the record button just do nothing? And you have a tape inserted in the camera? The camera should just record when you push the button so that’s kind of weird
@@gameguy7889maybe make sure that your VHS-C tape has the *record tab* in place. It's a physical tab, located on the side opposite of where the actual tape, that can be removed or moved in order to prevent recording over previously recorded material. Cassette tapes had it too. 📼
The only color viewfinder on this series is at the top of the range with the 900 series I believe. I have a 960 and this camera and they are very similar. 960 gets a remote, the RGB viewfinder, a slightly larger screen and some other small things about the buttons/ menus. They’re both great little cameras though and the 260 has most of the functionality
Hello, I have an issue with this camcorder, i think it's the record/play button but not sure. The camera does not react when i turn the button. Battery ok, tape ok, eject and take tapes perfectly. But nothing happen when i turn ON the camera. When I put off the battery and put it back, it goes to on and then off few seconds later. Did you heard about this before ?
How old is the battery? If it’s an old battery it most likely won’t have enough power to keep the camera on. I would try a new battery and see if that helps
@@brandoncameracollectionyes of course the battery is new and fully charged (tested with a multimeter), it worked perfectly last year, I recorded and played videos the camera is in excellent condition, near mint. and for no reason, when i tried to record yesterday, nothing would work.
Question. I have this exact camera and I now have I a new tv that I no longer can connect the red and white cord to the tv. Is there something I can but to keep connecting the camera to my tv so I can watch old videos?

16:48 my Canon ES3000 Hi8 hi-fi stereo camcorder has a few art effects including that one except it's referred to as "art" and it also has negative art, except I'd say Canon's negative art is a bit more colorful This JVC has more digital effects, so glad to see this video....also, thanks for the mention!!
Of course always will take a recommendation for a camera to review. I know I said it in the video but I kind an f dig the blue and red filter. And the mosaic looks more clear than Sony camcorders
@@Joscraft_05 I've been told the "mono" channel is split in two, creating a "pseudo-stereo" effect. What makes the microphones sound like they're real far away from each other (if I remember correctly) is when the matrix circuit is disabled. I am trying to use this exact camcorder to capture my old tapes (also recorded on this camcorder 20ish years ago) and I can not figure out how to disable the on screen display while watching a tape? There is a setting in the system menu for "OSD Display", but when I set it to "off" it is still showing up during playback. I want to capture my tapes without the on screen display being in the video.
I have three of these cameras. I need to clean the mode encoder switch on one of them. It chews tapes on rewind and fast forward. But i like this camera as it has the svideo for capturing.
@@brandoncameracollection A little crispier no. A LOT crispier than VHS tbh, I think you know that you was using a normal VHS-C tape in the Super VHSET mode which allow you to record with a bit of more resolution in normal VHS-C tapes and be a little more crispier. But using a real Super VHS-C tape in this camera you get more quality and more crispier videos than using the ET function in regular VHS-C tapes.
Well if the battery is dead and won’t take a charge you need to get a new one. But yes you’ll need to have a charged battery. If your battery is working then most likely you have something broken in the camera
