I have seen some confusing videos with what appeared to be filmed by a free floating camera. That eould not make sense. It is good that this cleared it up.
I am the least tech savvy millennial ever and it has been driving me crazy trying to figure out how people were filming themselves. I thought maybe a drone was flying around them but now I know, thanks!
Thanks Dan for the video, now I understand it's the 360 camera lenses that mainly do the trick and the width of the selfi stick is contributory to that success.
Thank You. Hold the 360 camera at perpendicular angle with stick centered between the lenses and then any stick will automatically be hidden. Do I have that right?
I got an aluminum gopro to tripod adapter off amazon. Heres a link www.amazon.ca/Smatree-Aluminum-Adapter-Session-Cameras/dp/B01N94317A/ref=asc_df_B01N94317A/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292951371106&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11797039393871879621&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9000795&hvtargid=pla-569528429259&psc=1&mcid=ce746705256f328081d1975a39fbe6cd
So don’t tilt the camera up so it’s more perpendicular to catch the view from the front and back but instead leave it laying down and it should catch everything?
Can you drop the link for the invisible stick & what other accessories I need for my GoPro 360 to attach to it . I read some reviews that the insta360 stick only fits their camera not GoPro. I have my GoPro 360 max & want to find a stick to ride my motorcycle with to get good footage
So when you hold out the 360 like you are on a onewheel for example, you would hold it so the side of the camera without the lenses would be pointing towards the sky and the other towards the ground?
I really liked your video. :) That was part of what I was wondering and had no idea how to search that as my crieteria - YES!! Now, the other thing I am trying to find an explanation of is how to best hold the stick so to get bomb shots... like the snowboarders cruising down the mountain showing virtually every angle possible. I would LOVE to create content showing me shredding the snow!!
Thanks for the reply and glad you liked the vid! As for holding the stick there is no right answer, the creative freedom is up to you. Half the time I will swing the camera around me in different angle which give a cool effect, but it does help to find the angle that best works for you, if you want to show speed hold the camera lower to the ground, if you want to show you in your surroundings i find holding the stick out with the camera at eye level or a bit above gives the best view. if you watch the clips in the video just look at my hand and you can figure out the angle i was using for each shot
Personally i’ve found the insta360 selfie stick to be the best, it collapses pretty small, extends a lot and is fairly solid but doesnt show up in footage
You almost lost me at "it's magic" since there is no suck thing as magic. But the method of removal is rather clever - I always thought it was some image prediction trick like with those fake 3d images on FB where they change their viewpoint as the page scrolls.
there is no right or wrong way to hold the camera you can have it out in front of you, side, behind...etc. the beauty is you can reframe after. the creativity is up to you. i did put a couple clips with the selfie stick fully extended at the begining of the video @0:10
Took me forever to find this video explaining how these action shots are taken by the magic floating camera that always knows where you are. Mystery solved! Thanks.
Thanks for sharing, but I'm still confused. I have the max and I went rollerblading and it still captured the stick. If I hold it perpendicular it will face the ground and the sky and won't actually capture me.
The beauty of the 360 cam is that the lenses dont actually have to point in a certain direction. In the videos i show im holding the camera perpendicular with the lenses, facing the ground and sky it stitches the two camera files
So in other words... When someone films with these types of cameras, they aren't getting a true image, there is a small portion that's being edited out.
This is the video that came up when I asked this question in Google. Because I asked it there, it brought up that quick video view option. But, you answered my question really well, so I'm taking the time to come hereand actually like👍the video.. and ig comment as well, since I'm now here typing this.
@@dansedranthanks for the engagement! One of the best things besides producing content is engaging and more than just a like! Makes you feel like what you say actually matters! I know how much I appreciate it! Keep killin it!
I thought the same thing for so long. I thought they had software or something that edited out the stick. I just got a gopro max and I'm loving it. I am curious, if you have a longer selfie stick, will it become visible? I have the max grip + tripod stick, and it's a little short.
The camera actually consists of 2 cameras/lenses. Imagine a fly that has 2 eyes on either side of the head. But the eyes don't see 360 degrees all around itself, there's a blindspot like 50 cm (20 inches) in front of the head where it can't see anything so close. That's where the selfie stick is, just in front of the fly up close. The stick is so close and so thin the Fly's eyes (camera lenses) can't see it.
Big thumbs up for no 10 min bullshit video but straight to the point. Thank you!
I can stand those videos so why make em lol appreciate the feedback!
I was always wondering how people shoot with a floating camera but now I know, thanks mate.

Yeah me too. I searched to find out.
Me to, confused

Thank you so much! I'm old and could not understand how these videos were being captured when it looked like there was no camera.😅
You speak for me,my friend. Thank you.
@totalt6600 I mean.... I'm still kinda confused but not as much as I was before😅😅😅😅.
Thanks Dan for the video, now I understand it's the 360 camera lenses that mainly do the trick and the width of the selfi stick is contributory to that success.
That was ace mate. I have seen it a lot in mountaineering videos and couldn’t work out how it was done. Greetings from the Azores
Appraciate the feedback !
I'm new to filming with go pro and this was helpful, thanks. 😊
Nice explanation Dan. I was completely confused about this before watching.
I’m planning on getting a 360 camera for music video snippets and what not definitely learned something new!!!!
Thank You. Hold the 360 camera at perpendicular angle with stick centered between the lenses and then any stick will automatically be hidden. Do I have that right?
Nailed it!
Exactly what I was looking for and directly to the point. Thanks.
Hey Dan good video, I have the insta 360 invisible selfie stick and the go pro max, where can i get an adapter to mount it up? Thanks!

I just have one question, why does it look like you're recording from in front of the bike instead of directly above the handle?
So don’t tilt the camera up so it’s more perpendicular to catch the view from the front and back but instead leave it laying down and it should catch everything?
Yup!
Hi Dan, yes I am trying to figure out where I can purchase a mount for the stick so it attaches to my motorcycle.
Insta360 has a motorcycle kit you can buy. You can get it direct from the site or even amazon. Theres other 3rd party options too
Thank you, great explanation! It was a complete mystery to me.

What stick do you prefer for the gp max
I’ve been using the insta360 selfie stick. It extends pretty long 40in/120cm but is really compact when closed up
So when you hold out the 360 like you are on a onewheel for example, you would hold it so the side of the camera without the lenses would be pointing towards the sky and the other towards the ground?
You could do that or have the lenses pointed forward and back. It doesnt matter which way you point them. The beauty of 360 cams!

Learned something new today! Thank you bro 😎
Any advice on best "invisible" selfie stick and camera combo?
I personally like the insta 360 selfie stick. It collapses fairly compact but entends a good amount and is sturdy
Cheers@@dansedran
GoPro 12? Or insta 360x3? And should I wait? For insta 360x4?
Very different uses and tools, depends on your needs
Can you recommend a brand and type or provide some links I bought a telesin and it is showing the stick in the shot.

do you think it can work on akaso brace 7 le
How come you didn't demonstrate exactly where to hold the camera and should the selfie stick be fully extended? Thx

@@dansedran Okay, thx! ;)
Can I do 360 camera on my phone?
no you need a dedicated 360 camera like gopro max or insta360
Cool thanks. Modern tech is amazing.
So it has to be GoPro Max?
I have the regular Hero 11, and was wondering why i couldn’t get it to work. Makes sense.
Yeah gopro max ir any 360 camera. Insta360 works too.
What is the best camera out now that I can do these with?
Insta 360 x3 is pretty feature rich, BUT Gopro IS working on a new 360 cam and it will be worth the wait 😉
@@dansedran thanks man! I’ll wait I have a older GoPro
We need internet services to connect it, right?
no internet connection needed!
This was perfect ty sm you were really quick and efficient! follow:)
Thanks so much for the follow and feedback! Really appreciate it :)
omg i was wondering why my 360s still got the stick in the image, so you don't have to bend the camera. i see, thank you!!
You’re welcome!
It's new to me, thanks So essentially any other vendor stick as long as it meets the blindspot would work.
Yup exactly, any stick or pole will work as long as its in between the lenses blind spot
If both lenses have the same blind spot, how is there _any_ image at all there, where the stick should be?
Theres actually a bit of overlap and if you get close enough with a hand or something else, you do see the missing image. Hope this helps
So I need a special camera?
Any 360 camera will work like this
Took me forever to find this video explaining how these action shots are taken by the magic floating camera that always knows where you are. Mystery solved! Thanks.
Finally someone who actually explains!
can I use my GoPro selfie stick on my insta 360 x3 and have it invisible someway too??
as long as the pole in thinner than the camera body, then you absolutely can!
super helpful
Thanks for the feedback! 🙏 glad it helped

did not know that, thanks
You’re very welcome

Good video!✌️
Thanks.
You're welcome!
Do you need an insta selfie stick to make it work or you can just your own slim selfie stick and still get the invisible effect?
Any stick will work. Ive been using a 25ft painters pole for drone like shots and it hides perfectly
FINALLY! I understand now! :)
Thank you
You're welcome
