  • This is a fresh recording for those who saw my old videos. This is one of my audio systems and my favorite, my Vintage Sansui Definition series setup.
It primarily consists of 2 x BA-5000 power amps, 2 x CA-3000 preamps, G-8000 receiver, SC-5110 cassette deck, TU-9900 tuner, SE-9 Equalizer, QS-1 Quadphonic Synthesizer, SR-929 & SR-838 turntables. There are also 3 x 400 CD Sony CD players, all daisy chain connected, so I don't run out of choice. There's also a heap of other assorted components on the shelves you may notice in the video.
The amps drive a pair of JBL L220's, JBL L150A's, AR TSW-910's, Infinity RSM's, Bose 901's. Theres also a Definitive Technology Reference SuperCube Subwoofer hidden back up behind the amp stacks, for when I really want to shake the house!
I can switch the speakers around quickly through the QS-1 which can make it a 4 channel setup at the flick of a switch. The 2nd CA-3000 allows me to split the system in half, affectively 2 systems which allows great flexibility overall.
The song playing is a Mother Goose version of the Rolling Stones "Paint it Black" which apparently Mick Jagger said was the best cover of their song he had ever heard.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and my Sansui gear.

Amassing! Technology moves faster and faster everyday- there is probably more processing power in an iPhone today. Don't get me wrong I love vintage audio but this kind of reminds you of seeing those rooms full of computer back in the 60's with .000001 MB of processing power!

I've heard those Sansui stereo systems. However, I still think that in the "golden era of hi-fi" (1970s) the best audiophile company was Kenwood.

Hi, it allows you to affectively turn the setup into a 4 channel system at the flick of a switch. You can obtain a whole array of 4 channel combintations which provide something for all types of music so to speak. I connect it through one of the tape ports and use it that way. Having 2x BA-5000's and 2 CA-3000's allows the system to be seperated into 2 completes setups if necessary also.

Hi, the song is "Paint it Black" which is a cover of the Rolling Stones classic. It is performed by a little known aussie/N.Z band from the late 1970s called Mother Goose. They only made 3 albums in total. They were "Stuffed, Dont believe in Fairytales and This is the life". They are very rare and higly sort after as there werent too many made. I think Paint it Black comes off the Dont Beleive in Fairytales album. I have all 3 albums buts its unlikely you will find them anywhere other than Oz.

A M A Z I N G Sansui hi-fi products from their Golden Age. was it an SQ recording? ....or just a matrix mix, i thought i saw the Sansui quadraphonic decoder meters going (I still have one of those in the attic or basement somewhere) & What A Great Pity the cameraman was having a prolonged epileptic fit while filming!

My Rig in High School 1980 Was integrated Sansui 100X2 Amp(Big Black Knobs) ... JBL 4311's ... Sansui direct drive manual turntable w/Shure V-15 ..... When my friends found out I had paid 600 bucks just for the turntable/V-15 they thought I had lost my mind. All the equipment still works fine. however the JBL.s have received
ah ring job and some new foam.
