Why is no one talking about the lady-in-waiting who USED HER OWN ARM as a deadbolt to buy the doomed royals some time? That's one of the most hardcore, badass things I've ever heard.
That lady-in-waiting is a real one for that, couldn’t say the same about mine lol 😃
Agreed!! Braver and stronger than the king was!
What was her name? Want to read that story now!
@@KHowardishereandthefunsbegun⅕p
I am of Royal lineage, from King James I & II..
The Queen was named Joan Beaufort Queen of Scotland.
Ironically enough, my name is James, I've always said I want to go reclaim my throne in Scotland..lol
I wish I could post pictures that show my family's Royal Crest and also the family tree I have.
But hope that clears things up.
Could you do the high kings of Ireland and the welsh princes of wales
that would be pretty cool actually
@@matthanson1712 There are actually still claimants to the titles
The problem is there were several different kingdoms in Wales. It would be extremely complicated bouncing back and forth between Gwynedd and Deheubarth and all of the others.
@@fools4jules oh no, I'm not talking about the different families and kingdoms, just the lineages of those who used the title of prince of Wales that were welsh
cool.! :) @@joshuafrimpong244
so many folks seem to only focus in on the stuart/stewart monarchs or the ones who hit movie screens... this deep dive series has been especially refreshing and informative, lindsay!
I knew Scottish history was bloody, but holy moly! Every one of these stories could be a movie.
I’m a direct descendant of King Edward I, trickled down through the Boleyn family, Mary Boleyn is my 12th Great Grandmother, to her daughter Catherine Carey, my maternal grandmother, and my mother. Many nobles between. Genealogy makes my head spin sometimes, trying to remember who is when and where. But it’s fun too! Thank you for your ongoing History lessons, History was my favorite subject in school!
You manage to pack SO much information into short videos. It’s incredible! Keep doing what you do Lindsay! You're the best at it! and can't wait for the stewarts!
I’m always in high heaven when you post Lindsay. Thank you for what I’m assuming is an absurd amount of time putting these amazing information filled documentaries together. We really do appreciate all you do. 😊🌸💕
Make a king queens series about french pleasee
That should come hopefully after
I needed some background noise while i work on cosplay stuff 🥰
Lindsay’s storytelling skills are amazing, I could listen to anything she narrates
I live in Scotland, In school we learn about the Scottish wars of independence for our Qualifications (National 5) or any highers if you stay on later. As of taking Nat 5 history I have exams and this is probably going to be in it, thanks for the study material :)
Thank you for doing programs about Scotland!
I adore these videos. Obviously I’m not the only one! Thousands of likes always within the first 24 hours! What a treasure you are! I look forward to your videos and podcasts each week!!❤
Wonderful birthday gift! Scotland history lessons with Lindsay❤
in saving his balls....he doomed himself........... oh my!!!
Robert the Bruce and I share a birthday! July 11th babies unite! LMAO. But for real though, this video was great and I love learning about history!
Been loving this series. Thanks so much for all you do! Keep up the great work!
WEEK ONE OF ASKING LINDSEY TO DO A VIDEO ON THE FIVE ROMANOV CURSES!!!!!
I'm intrigued! I found one article in Russia Beyond listing 5 curses. Is that an official number/ thing?
I know there were five curses put on the Romanov dynasty, but if there isn’t enough material for a whole video, could you include it in another video about them?? Maybe on royal Russian jewels or imperial state outfits? Or even a more specific video on the costume hall of 1903???
Or a whole video on royal/imperial curses!! I know that would be long/interesting!!
Amazing work 😁🏴🏴
Hello Lindsay! I wanted to let you know that I’ve been subscribed to this channel since the fall of 2020. Your videos have greatly fueled my love of European History and I’ve been passionately learning about everything Europe ever since. I’d also like to let you know that today is my birthday and this video is one of the best birthday gifts I could get. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve done over the years and I deeply look forward to enjoying more of your content real soon!
Happy Birthday 🎂!
3:04 unrelated but I did a replica of this outfit, with this picture as inspiration about a year ago!
Your jokes really made this one girl!😂😂😂😂😂 Keep doing whatbyou do best: making our days brightter
What about a series on Spanish kings
What about the Russian tsars ?
Si.
@@SavageDarksider-sw7rpyes, please
Because of this series, I can now understand why Scotland would want to be separated from England even until now. As someone from Asia, I didn't understand it before.
Haven’t watched it yet but I sure as hell am hyped!! Btw, will you ever do the live videos again?
Unfortunately, probably not. I did enjoy them and talking to you and others. But they were hurting my views overall. I may do some separate live Q&As.
@@LindsayHolidayplease do the Q&A!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@LindsayHoliday Oh, makes sense, also a q&a video would be pretty lit!
We toured Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood today.
You're spoiling me 😊
Robert the bruce was 6'1. Angus stands 5'10 according to google. Loved his performance though. Historical inaccuracies aside, he was brilliant in my opinion.
10:02 Oops. Edward I to Edward VII?
Sad fact that Queen Margaret maid of Norways buried side is destroyed....
Queen Margaret, better known as Maid of Norway as far as i believe was taken back to Bergen Norway and buried beside her Mother Margaret, Queen Consort of Eric II of Norway in north asile of Christs Kirk in Bergen. I think your possibly getting mixed up with Queen Margaret, St Margaret of Scotland wife to King Malcolm III King of Scots
@@SALeppard Thank you 😀
*Margaret Maid of Norway was actually the 1st cousin once removed of the equally tragic, Edward II (he was her Mom's 1st cousin even though he & Margaret were around the same age as she was the grandniece of Edward I via her late Mom)... I wonder would Edward II have loved Margaret and if they would have had a happy marriage as Edward's marriage to Isabella of France was anything but...
Wow. You glued some needed family history pieces for me. Thank you for such great research!
i loved all of your sassy jokes in this one lollll
Kings and Queens Of Wales and Ireland next pls.
These horses seem to have it out for Scottish nobility 🐎 🐴
I'm wondering if the Stuarts ascension inspired G R.R.Martin in creating The Tyrells who also were stewards, and there is also Marjorie/Margaery involved
can you do the thai monarchy?
This channel is a total joy! I'm so happy I found it! I'm completely obsessed with history specially the european one and this channel is a gift! Lindsay, congratulations for being able to put together so many details in one video it's amazing how you do that! I have been binge watching all the videos from all kinds of subjects here and I just can't stop! So good!
Good video!😊
Wonderful birthday gift! Scotland history lessons with Lindsay. Make a king queens series about french pleasee.
thoroughly enjoying the series on Kings and Queens of Scotland. whilst it is correct that Margaret known as the maid of Norway was the first Queen Regnant to reign , Gruoch who was married to King Macbeth, who was her cousin was in fact the true claimant to the Scottish crown, not Macbeth, Gruoch should have been Queen of Scots in her own right having greater claim. The title of Scottish monarchs are King and or Queen of Scots, not Scotland. Of the people not the land. Also The royal Stewarts ruled Scotland from 1371 until 1707 then of Great Britain until 1714. 336 years not 300 as stated, but they ruled in total for 343 and are the longest ruling dynasty in the British Isles
My Grandfather could trace his family line back to Robert the Bruce.
I love watching these! They always inspire me to go back to playing crusader kings 3 again lol
Longshanks was no saint.
Beautiful video of history ❤❤
This is all sooo interesting! I would love if you did a series like this about french monarchs
Hello Lindsay, I absolutely adore your videos! I wish you can do these videos for other European monarchies as well. More power and regards.
Who else wishes a family tree was on the screen more often during these videos? I'm so confused
Just in time for my lunch break, I am absolutely living for and loving this new series!!!!!
P.S can you do a video on Lucretia Borgia and how she married into royalty briefly
She's high on my list!
@@LindsayHoliday I find her story to be fascinating because of the other factors at play in her life. I also fell in love with the tv show The Borgias and how they depicted her change from child to woman and then her role as a huge political figure later in her life.
Need a friend as loyal as Lady Armbar 💪🏼✨
It's pronounced berik the w is silent

*_40,000 English came to Stirling Bridge for me, they had to cross a narrow bridge to get to us you see. We held them off, pushed them back, it was no contest! Bridge collapsed, thousands drowned, OF COURSE I KILLED THE REST!_*
_Celebrated Stirling Bridge another Scottish win, by decorating my sword with the English general's skin!_
After kings of Scotland ,plis do kings and dukes of poland .
I cracked up at the king who requested to be buried in a dung heap 💀 what a drama queen!!!!
Love the dry, “He was buried at Paisley… *not* a dung heap.” 😂
Thank you 😂❤😊😅
I think you meant Edward II at the 10 minute mark, not Edward IIV
Joan Beaufort took brutal vengeance against her husband’s assassins. The ringleader in particular was publicly tortured for three days. This included being stretched out, being crowned with a red hot iron diadem with the inscription “King of all Traitors”, being dragged through the streets of Edinburgh, disemboweled, his heart ripped out, beheaded and the quartered.
Take that miraculous
Hilary Duff is related to Robert the Bruce
The true villains are these Scottish horses, real terrors
So James I had a really stupid death.
Can you do a history of the Papacy?
Could you do an episode on Devorguilla, Lady of Galloway? She was Mother of John Balliol and a very influential women in Scotland and England.
Three down... two to go.
Magaret, Maid of Norway's father was Eric II of Norway, actually
God I'd love to go on that tour. Too bad I'm broke. I'll go one day. 😅
Dunfermline Abbey has 7 kings including the Bruce buried threre
Video on monarchs, princes and stadtholders of the netherlands?
The stewarts remind me of house Tyrell in Game of Thrones.
Stewarts of Highgarden
Can you do Catherine of Aragon, and her siblings??? Please
Could you do mils of Henry viii?
Wonderful stuff you made about the monarchs of Scotland but I wonder in the future if Scotland became independent again, the country would then became a republic this ending the monarxhy of Scotland. I heard some SMPs wanted their own head of state instead of the monarch.
💐.
wars
Edward II not VII
Yeeeeeeesssssssssssss
How could Robert I have syphilis before the age of discovery?
Welp, more reasons for me to really despise medieval England...
This might be a silly question, but did they have birth certificates and birthdays back in the medieval? Period
Your map is wrong. You have the South East of Scotland as part of England, which is has never been. It was part of Northumbria, which was an inependent Kingdom. The Kingdom would later be partitioned with the northern half becoming part of Scotland and the southern half becoming part of England.
the fact they managed to keep their culture with England so close by is so impressive they really are bad a$$
OUCH that was a costly lie🔥🔥🔥
[O]
As a descendant of Edward Longshanks, ngl, I'm quite impressed with how he managed to keep the Scots at bay for the entirety of his reign. Truly was the Hammer of the Scots.
burned at the stake..then later the whole scottish town went out for some beef steaks and haggis!!!
can't prove it..but you know it sounds just about right!!!!!!!!!!
