Scenario: Three paths converge on a bloody field. As the delusional prince recklessly claws his way forward to quench his thirst for revenge, Byleth desperately does what she can to keep him and her students alive. Meanwhile, the blue skies above briefly stir a mutual recollection of peaceful days at the academy within the hearts of former classmates. But alas, clouds have formed. Eagles, lions, and deer… they steel themselves, each with reasons not to yield. They’re caught in a reunion “Between Heaven and Earth.”

OH. MY. GOSH. I didn't expect to churn this out so soon, but I just had way too much fun working on this!!!!! After covering Acacia's musical concept of Chasing Daybreak, I was inspired to write lyrics for Between Heaven and Earth (BHE) since it was another song I felt would also work as a musical.
Before writing the lyrics, I decided to listen to all versions of BHE to see if I could mix them together that can potentially serve a compelling narrative. And AHHHHHHH lemme just say that the Embers version is superbly underrated and that it's an absolute crime that you barely hear it in Three Hopes unless you pause from the action. I haven't checked the actual tempo of Embers compared to its Rain version, but the former feels slightly faster, which makes it feel more desperate, raw, and downright emotional--all of which are emotions that encapsulate the tragedy of fighting people who used to be your classmates.
Some of my favorite lines I've written include the parts where Dimitri harmonizes with the other leaders and his countermelody at around the 6 minute mark. The countermelody actually wasn't planned, but I felt like that part felt too empty for what felt like the climax moment of the song. Sooo, I consulted Dimitri's fe wiki page of quotes and used his iconic "Kill every last one of them" and BAM, the countermelody was born! The line "We're caught between heaven and earth" was inspired by this video by The Muses' Mire • Between Heaven and Ear... . It's their interpretation of BHE as a musical, so definitely check it out if you haven't already! I also referenced Acacia's Chasing Daybreak lyrics in Edelgard's line "The daybreak is closing in."
As for the recording process, I decided to use the actual voice acting from the game in the intro because my subpar voice acting skills couldn't capture the emotions that the VAs for each leader masterfully did. Everything else you hear after roughly the first minute is my vocals though! Once again, I did a bazillion takes to decently pull off Byleth's ridiculously high notes. If she keeps this up, Byleth should ditch being a professor and join the opera with Dorothea and Manuela LOL
One more thing: I tried searching everywhere for the pronunciation of "Aymr" and could only reference the pronunciation from Byleth's smash trailer. It sounds like they say "uh-meer," so that's how I sang it in here. Idk if that's correct. I even texted my friend who played fe3h and all of its routes and even she doesn't know how it's supposed to be said XDDD So if I pronounced it wrong, I'm sorry HAHA 😅
Anywayssss, I'm hoping to do more fe musical stuff in the future, but I think it'll be a while until I upload another one. This song was a HUGE undertaking (like how did it get to 7 minutes long???? Recording all the voices and editing this video took forever), and I'd like to cover songs from other games! If I were to "musicalize" another fe3h song though, it'll probably be the Embers version of "The Long Road" but we'll see where my creative juices decide to flow (because they sometimes flow in sporadic directions LOL). In the meantime, I have a Persona 5 cover in the works! It'll probably be uploaded sometime in April, so look out for that!

I loved the lyrics I'll spread my wings, I'll claw through, I'll tread with out fail. Part because it's a refrence to the animals of the houses but also because it fits their ideals and how they're fighting. Edelgard is working to make her message is heard and spreading her war through the battlefield. Dimitri at this point doesn't care and wants nothing but Edelgard dead and he's fighting recklessly. Claude is being careful in the battlefield because of everything is going on to try to not lose any of his classmates and allies while also having to be careful about going about his ideals because they could also cause a war with the way people don't like outsiders.

How did that get so little attention? I know the Three Houses hype is on the decline, but this deserves more recognition nevertheless, I'd even show this to my friends who aren't familiar with TH. THIS is plain amazing, I always wanted to hear an English vocal version of Between Heaven and Earth, and this one delivers my expectations thousandfold!

Whether the hype is high or low, that won’t change my love for Three Houses as one of my favorite games of all time, and part of that reason is because the music lends itself so well to complementing the narrative of the game. Between Heaven and Earth is definitely up there as one of my favorites from OST, and I’m so glad you enjoyed my interpretation of it ☺️

Oh this is MINDBLOWING, I’m in awe!!! Using the brass chorus as the armies singing is soooo clever, this is incredible the lyrics are awesome and your voice is so good!! I like that you do little voices for the characters but not the point of it disturbing the singing :)

Man, your music never gets old. I finally reached the month of the battle of the Eagle and Lion. Playing with the Blue Lions on Maddening Classic, there has been no death from the class. TBH, I've grown attached to the Blue Lions, and it's heartbreaking that after this playthrough, I will be moving on to the Black Eagles. I will hold back on recruiting any of the Blue Lions on my Black Eagles route lol. Also, congrats on surpassing 10k views; you really deserve it!
As much as I loved the Black Eagles cast, I found myself yearning to be with my lion cubs haha. I also didn't recruit any of the Blue Lions in CF to make the route extra painful. I just can't imagine any of them betraying their king when Faerghus values loyalty. And thank you so much!
If I don’t recruit anyone on CF, I at least get Mercedes and Constance so they can be with Emile 🥹🤲🏼 it’s only the right thing to do. And maybe Lysithea too bc of her connection to Edelgard

Ok I tried to keep my comment a reasonable length, so hopefully this isn’t too much. THIS IS SO GOOD!!! I was so excited to see that this included all three lords because I love them all so much ❤💙💛.
The lyrics are so fitting for all of the characters and the battle. I loved all the moments they had conflicting lyrics to indicate their different feelings about the war. I love that Edelgard started the melody with the Edge of Dawn lyrics since that’s her theme, and I also really liked the references to the different house animals at 3:47.
The transition into the Embers version was so cool, too! It was a nice touch to bring in the Blue Lions at the end to establish which version of Gronder this is.
Also nice job capturing Dimitri’s anger. Your line delivery was great (and the laugh). His countermelody towards the end was so good.
I actually love long comments, so this honestly made my day!!!! And now... allow me to respond with my own comment that is longer than yours because I have SO much to say!!!
First of all, I LOVE that you pointed out my nod towards Edge of Dawn. One of the most beautiful and heartbreaking aspects of fe3h is the tragedy of war and how it turns beloved classmates into enemies. From what I understand about Edelgard so far, she still feels a pang of regret that her path came down to spilling the blood of her peers. Edge of Dawn's lyrics where it says "Here in cherished halls/in peaceful days/I fear the edge of dawn/knowing time betrays" portrays pre-timeskip Edelgard's growing reluctance as she spends more time at the academy; deep down, she's just a girl who wants to be free, but that freedom comes at a cost that she is willing to pay. Thus, the part I wrote where she sings "Though my heart's in dismay/The daybreak is closing/show no fear/so they'll hear/that my ambitions are right/Aymr prove your might!" portrays that in spite of how she feels, she must keep moving forward.
Second, I'm happy you noticed my reference to the house's animals! As I was writing these lines, I also noticed that each animal represents their lords' demeanors respectively. Eagles "spread their wings" to intimidate their prey, much like how Edelgard can be pretty intimidating with her seriousness. Lions and their claws can be absolutely ruthless and terrifying, much like Dimitri and his recklessness and his feral endeavors. Then you have the deer who are peaceful animals, much like Claude who simply wants everyone to get along. The word "tread" is also typically used in phrases like "tread lightly/carefully," which matches Claude's approach to fighting: waiting to see how things pan out and only acting so long as he already has his next step figured out.
Phew, that was probably way too long of a response, but I couldn't help myself from how I excited I was to know someone notices the small details I included in my lyrics, so thank you once again for your comment!

I think you are so spot-on, and it makes sense that you're so good at coming up with meaningful lyrics given how good you are at analyzing these details. That's such an awesome point about how the different house leaders' demeanors fit their respective animals so well.
I totally agree with your thoughts about Edelgard, too, especially with the Edge of Dawn lyrics you pointed out. It does feel like she has some regrets about setting things in motion given her time at the academy, but not enough to halt her plans of moving forward no matter what for the sake of the future. She's so set in what she thinks is right that she won't even let her own conflicting emotions get in the way.

Yo, this was such a creative way of going about the lyrics. The different armies and leaders going and coming together at certain points. I was not expecting the switch to the Embers version but it worked really well. And the switch to the Blue Lions at the end was done really well. This was so well done and can’t wait for what you decide to do next

I'm currently playing the Azure Moon route. Finished Verdant Wind a long time ago, and hope to do Silver Snow/Crimson Flower in the future. I've seen someone else do an Azure Moon musical as well; what I'd like to see, and I haven't seen anyone do it as of yet in my searches, but I'd like a Crimson Flower musical. I imagine it would sound like a musical sung entirely by Disney Villains.

I've played Crimson Flower, and I also see its potential as a musical adaptation. While I don't have enough energy in me to create an entire CF musical (one route is already tiring to make haha), there's one particular scene from the route that I'd LOVE to write lyrics for due to its emotional impact. I won't say what it is for spoiler reasons, but it's something I've been thinking about for a while!
As someone who has put an uncomfortably long amount of time in this game trying to see all the routes, I gladly can give this my seal of approval as a super cool thing

While it’s true that playing all three games + the dlc in order is recommended if you want the full experience to understand the overarching storyline and the fan service they throw at you, you don’t necessarily have to play them in order since each of their stories are self-contained. I personally never played the first two games but have seen others LP them and became interested enough to play XC3… now I consider XC3 as one of my favorite games of all time LOL so I’m definitely going to playing the other 2 games myself one day!
While each game is notoriously long (probably 100+ hours at the very least), it’s very much worth it for the music, the massive open-world you can explore, the crazy plot twists, lovable characters, and a large amount of side content. The combat system is also addicting once you get the hang of it! Soooo yeah, if you have the time to sink your teeth into an XC game, I highly recommend it!!!

To answer your question, I would say yes! When writing lyrics, I mainly pay attention to whichever instrument was playing the melody since the melody is what I sing along to.

God, I remember the time I played this game with my brother. Even know, this game did a great job in terms of story and music…. Gameplay is the weakest factor unfortunately but hey it’s a great game.
I picked the black eagles for the sense of loyalty and sorcery but I was a coward and a fool and betrayed my house. My Bro on the other land picked the blue lions yet it was both a surreal experience for us both. Although Three hopes serves as the precedent of three houses, I still had a good time playing. What a time to be alive.
I can’t comment much on the gameplay since FE3H was my intro to the series, but I do agree that the story and music were both fantastic!!! I think it’s awesome how the game can make you feel all sorts of emotions, whether it’s betrayal, regret, hope, etc. It also helps that most of the characters are fleshed out, which only makes you care about them even more 🥲
I don't know why, but 2:52 is my favorite part. Also it's a great song, but some lines didn't match the setting. For example, Gustave's line, it doesn't really make sense to me. But if it does have a meaning, then let me know.

Just saw your edit! Gustave feels a lot of guilt for not protecting the king of Faerghus during the Tragedy of Duscur. Since Faerghus highly values duty, Gustave finds himself to be a disgrace for failing to protect the royal family when it was his duty to do so. Him serving Dimitri by fighting to protect him during the war is his way of “repenting for his sins” because he’ll be able to make up for what he wasn’t able to do in the past for the royal family. Since there were other characters in the song who declared their resolves for fighting at Gronder (e.g, Rodrigue: “Must keep my promise”), I felt it would be a nice touch to add Gustave’s resolve for fighting as well! It’s my favorite line, too. She’s said in some comment somewhere that she tends to speak Dimitri’s lines because that’s the only way she can get her voice deep enough, I think, but in this case, the flat, serious delivery is perfect - it contrasts so starkly with the chorus and shows how far gone he is, and how much he’s at odds with his friends.
