Show Synopsis: With all the thrills and edge-of-your-seat tension of a major sporting tournament, combined with the latest in robot engineering and larger-than-life inventors, BattleBots has viewers of all ages gripped.
In pairs, bot inventors go head-to-head inside the perilous and bullet-proof BattleBot arena, with the aim of destroying or completely disabling their opponent’s machine.
During each episode, we meet the creators behind these awesome machines. From amateurs and super-smart technology students to seasoned professionals who have dedicated their lives to creating the ultimate fighting robot, find out what drives these charismatic inventors, and how they turn their visions into supreme battling robots.

No tombstone deaths? They are easily just as interesting. Tombstone either destroys the opponent, or it destroys itself.

I liked watching Gruff fight. He was literally chasing Tombstone around the ring, shrugging off the damage, grappling him and dousing him in fire.
i think if he used the fire more he could have won
It was so frustrating seeing him shoot fire at nothing??? There were so many moments where tombstone was in perfect flaming position and they did nothing???
@@lewis7909 These weapons might have serious reliability issues after a few hits, and the flame thrower might have gone down. When you see it jet back up, it may have been in the moment of calm he was trying to get it back operating, perhaps spamming the button or re sparking it or something. I do agree, given a more durable ignition system, and a way to hold down the other bots a bit more reliably, enemy bots internals could just be roasted. Any insulated wires or batteries could just be destroyed and i think you would lose control even if the bot looked fine.
Gruff's front armour sure held up against that onslaught!
In the fight against Minotaur : That Ray Billing's «Sorry about your floor» was delicious.
The funniest thing is that every time minotaur and tombstone fight, the battle arena always ends up damaged.
Tombstone Vs Minotaur was an amazing battle! It surprisingly shows Tombstone can actually be durable.
Worst of all, tombstone won because minouatr got stuck in a gap in the battle arena, every time minotaur has lost against tombstone it has been because of the battle arena, it is the only robot that can beat ths robot in one a one.

Hummm I don't think so. While it can be destructive it can be a weapon against itself. I really don't like that project.
The problem is toombstone does a lot of damage to itself woth each hit and Bots are just so much more durable now. They dont get obliderated with 1 or 2 big hits.
Tombstone is such simple robot piloted by a man with godlike driving skills

The simple works. It's an anti-fall robot, with good durability and a lethal weapon, nothing more. Nowadays people make robots thinking it's a fashion show.

tombstone doesn't have a weapon. it IS the weapon. and I like how that makes it iconic.
I love Tombstone. It’s like the Sean Connery Bond of the Battlebots world. Sure, it’s probably not exactly what should be made today, but it set the bar for Battlebots spinners and what we want watching a match.
I think it is more Blofeld than Bond.
I like how Ray doesn't stop, he makes sure that the other bot is either dead or comes out the fight very very damaged

@@Shadow-minion you could say Gigabyte was death tbh the shell is its weapon and defense.
@@foulmouth359 but the main motor and moving system everything was intact, just the shell came off. That's why Ray himself tells Gigabyte team to stop moving to initiate a count down as team Gigabyte wanted to stop the match then and there. Ray just spared them.
if they stop moving he stops he stops attacking.
Smart move tbh. It’s better to save the bot for the next fight.
It's a shame Tombstone isn't competing this season, they're one of only 5 bots to have competed in every season of the reboot (The others being Lockjaw, Captain Shrederator, Hypershock and Witch Doctor). Hopefully Triton can carry the flame for them!

I'd have to say at this point Tombstone is the most iconic robot in the whole sport, including old BattleBots and Robot Wars

You enter with a nice looking bot, then Tombstone has a play with you, you brush up your bot and put it in bin bags.
That thing is a beast, amazing to watch. 🙂

Tombstone can't even control its own power sometimes, showing how powerful it is :)
it's not the build, it's the driver what makes this bot so dangerous, bot design is rather poor. wheels are too exposed, but then again if you know how to control your bot, then weaker designs work great

@@dustmitesp8766 i don't really follow any of that "behind the scenes" i just like to see the fights, but that's very true. Ray has higher intelligence for sure, you can tell from his driving, however Tombstone is not very reliable.
if i'd make Tombstone V2, i'd make it stronger so it can withstand some punishment itself, i'd also put brakes on the spinner, so it wouldn't destroy itself after each hit.
not sure how the chain system is designed, but perhaps some kind of a springed bulley system, like on bicycles, to prevent the chain from coming off or breaking when it takes a hit.
then tombstone would be unstoppable!

@@Nova63_ didn't know that, but makes sense .. that's why carbide has so powerful weapon.
i actually got a reply from Ray on his channel, i left him a rather long comment and basically suggested that he should come back with competitive build, it would be really fun to watch him compete with something similar to carbide.
I didn't know this kind of robot tournament is actually exist in real life 😲

The guy said the bar weighs 75lbs so I did some googling to check... Yes, 75lbs and it used to spin at 400mph but they slower it down to 250mph because it was too dangerous. That's 32kg spinning at 420kmph. Terrifying.

Dude, I joined in on this fun, I’d have to talk to each ine of my opponents before the match and see we could come to a mutual understanding that the winner deserves a piece of their opponents bot, that was knocked off during the fight, like a trophy and that if both parties went ham, each can go home with a piece of each other’s bot.
one of the classic bot, love it, the main weapon is just so resilience, thats the most impressive part, it always spins back up!!!!!

6 years on and I'm still mystified and a little cross about John's bizarre decision to not use Beta's weapon once against Tombstone. Not the first time he was overly cautious to his detriment either. Wonder what that was about.
If I remember right I think Tombstone actually cut Beta's weapon chain in one of the interactions where it slid up the wedge very early in the match
That hammer would have been ripped off in mere seconds ..but the reason why he didn't use it was that tombstone ripped the chain off right in the first couple of seconds

@@btight3300 Wow, are they really that expensive? I guess it should be obvious by how powerful they are now. I'm only a casual fan who watched Robot Wars as a kid. Chaos 2, winner of series 3 and 4, apparently cost £250 to make.
@@thegrinderman1090Yeah, back then a robot could be made out of 3mm aluminum and be good, but now you need 6mm hardened steel at the least

It can literally break tombstone's weapon with its face it can take a lot of abuse it can easily shove tombstone around the box and smother him as well

@@z30_HUNGARY Minotaur lost to Tombstone, and Icewave have never fought them.
@@ZondaFRoadster I'd say Bite Force has the most effective design, while Tombstone is all about the weapon.
Bite Force is ridiculously good at the ground game, and it has a punchy weapon, though it doesn't really hit any harder than the other verticals.
Tombstone's horizontal giant bar can get countered by wedges but if it can get a good nick on a flat surface it does crazy amounts of damage
@@p_nilly Any hammer like weapon on a robot is pretty useless, you cant get enough power in them, you need too much power than batterys can provide or the robot doesnt have enough mass and jumps away. With rotating weapons you can gain momentum and hit way harder.

Bots like Radioactive always puzzle me. The builders love this show enough to be parts of it, and that's what they come up with?

That would be awesome, i would love to see a modern version of hypnodisc, spin to win
hypnodisc would get destroyed pretty fast. its armour isnt so great, and while it held up well in older robot wars, it would never work in the newer ones, its not durable enough, and the SRM takes too long to operate. BB are in a different weight class to RW anyway
