      But 1/2 the base believes his offense is better than Urban, Spurrier, Mullen, Chip Kelly, Heupel and Marion combined. And any failure is the player’s fault.

    Let's not sugar coat it. Napier sucks as a play caller!! Us fans have known this!! We have playmakers at the skill positions, but it means nothing with a below average play caller

    • @barrone71

      I agree. This is Napier being stubborn and insisting on being a game day play caller because he was fired at Clemson (exact same knocks there that we’ve seen at Fla) and he never once was offered the OC job at Bama.
      He is trying to prove to the world that he can be a game day play caller at the most elite level which is selfish bc it’s putting his own interests ahead of the program.
      At Lou he called his own plays and the offense was just good but in far too many 1 score games. In 3 years at Fla it’s been a clunky offense with no rhythm and many poor game day coaching issues bc Napier is too distracted.
      I always use this analogy. It’s not the system, it’s the play caller.
      Steve Addazio tried to run Mullen’s offense in 2009 with majority of the same team and the same terminologies but the offense was nowhere what it was under Mullen. Why? BC Mullen is a far better play caller, schemer and overall offensive mind than Addazio was. Napier is just a bottom 1/3 OC and it’s going to hurt Fla Im 2025 at some point.

      @@FrankThrasher3 sadly I feel UF UAA assured Napier 2 things, 4 full seasons and now, HC while Lagway is enrolled at UF. In the past 15 years the UAA has not prioritized football the way the top programs have. I feel like Napier is here through 2026 regardless bc he doesn’t have an out of control program and it shaves money off his buyout.
      Not what I would do, but the UF UAA hardly ever does what I would do/prefer

  • @hilbertshotel
    @hilbertshotel 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Why would you expect the UF offense to look anything like OSU’s, Dave? Napier is a monkey compared to Chip Kelly’s offense IQ. It’s 1990s football from the pistol. Run, run, run…and make the passing game completely dependent upon play-action. That’s not going to win a championship. You need to be able to execute whatever game plan you need to win the game. If UF can’t run the ball, Napier is unable to adjust. Lagway “papers over” a lot of Napier’s insufficiency as a playcaller.
    But hiring an OC is meaningless if that guy’s not a game changer. If we’re gonna hire a guy just to hire an OC, you might as well let BN keep calling plays. But the fact that Day lured Kelly to run the offense while Napier still thinks he can do it himself tells you everything you need to know about the chasm separating UF from elite status.

    I don’t think Napier should get another season if he fails this year to make a 12 team playoff. But I know, defend him at all costs. He’s had multiple OC hiring opportunities. We didn’t let Dan get away with keeping Grantham too long and now Nape keeping himself longer than Dan kept Grantham.
    But again, I know, exhaustive list of excuses. No accountability ever. At what point does anyone actually think Billy has to win? Neil Blackmon even tweeting beating the 6.5 is worth keeping Napier again.

    A lot of people are crazy and over reacting. Florida was 6-0 in games DJ started and finished. If Billy can go 6-0 with DJ as a freshman why would Billy want to change everything and confuse DJ. Instead of come back with a comfortable more seasoned DJ.

    • @barrone71
      @barrone71 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      He doesn’t need to change the system nor the terminologies, he needs to hire a better play caller who has a better feel for the game which also would free up a Napier to be a better HC on game day
