    Can’t argue with what the Bootmakers had to say. Those are all great hide choices. It is fantastic that you are able to use the Well Said Media studio to record, JC.

    I just bought a pair of used Nocona bullhide boots. Plenty of miles left on the soles. I have only worn them twice and love them already.

    I only like boots that can take a beating because I can’t be babying them when I’ve got s#*t to do. Most exotic I ever went was goat, I’m tempted to try gator but really don’t see the point in fish boots that can’t get wet.

    • @dwargonedragon794

      Shark is nice, can take a beating. Pretty pricy tho, as with most exotics. But yeah, cowhide is the best if you want just one boot that can do everything. Most people here, like me, use exotics for showing off or for materialistic coping. It's not the healthiest cope but it's an addiction, a lot of folks are addicted at something.

    alligator and snake and arapaima are the best leathers for dress boots

    The best leather for boots is the leather of the pair I am wearing!
    Still want to find a nice pair of ostrich leather boots to add to my wee collection. Though it sounds like I should consider Kangaroo boots. Especially with my dream custom boots by Lisa.

    Shark is not often appreciated but it's one tough leather. Not breathable but water-resistant. Good for those damp and snowy cold days. Downside is it doesn't stand out as an exotic. If I wear exotic, I want it to have showy texture. My go to sht kicker.
    Elephant is the toughest I owned but don't get them wet. Excellent for sunny days. Can withstand a bit more sun exposure.
    Pirarucu has amazing pineapple texture. It makes a statement. Durable enough I guess but I baby it. Most expensive I have. Conflicting reviews about water resistance.
    Eelskin is one beautiful delicate flower. Has ok water resistance as it was stitched in panels. I wear 'em if I'm feeling fancy.
    Stingray looks gae. I don't wear them often because of that. Not the most durable as the beads fall off eventually. Sanded version looks good on pictures tho, I should have gotten those.
    I had a cow leather work boot, the oil-saturated one. Can really take some beating and lasted a year of heavy work in mud, snow, dirt and sht with daily hosing and conditioning. It failed on the stitched seams but the leather is still great. And it's affordable.
    I just ordered beaver tail, we'll see how it holds up.
    Snapping turtle looks nice but I cannot justify spending that much. You need to make a review on those Mr. Jeremiah.
    Oh and there's sturgeon, wolf-fish, salmon, barramundi, frog/toad, seal/walrus. Novelties that are not available unless you order it from specialty boot makers. Sell more cows and buy these, cowboy. Make some more reviews. 😅

    I will never understand how Alligator is way more expensive than Elephant. When Elephant is going extinct and they don't exist in America, yet we have plenty of Alligators.

    • @KeolaHokea-gx7dd
      @KeolaHokea-gx7dd 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve read that it’s somewhat harder to get a nice pattern/cut from a gator than an elephant, which may make sense since most people want the tail/back pattern on their boots.

      @@KeolaHokea-gx7dd still when there are plenty more gators than elephants and ZERO elephants in America seems weird

      @@CowboyUp1371 very true. One of the local boot shops in my city buys their elephant hides from conservation groups when one of their elephants passes away, whether it’s naturally or if they find a poached one etc. Not sure how they get their gator/croc/caiman, but it’s so much more expensive

    • @dwargonedragon794
      @dwargonedragon794 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Elephants produce a lot of leather, it's a big animal. They are also regularly hunted (safari hunts, local tribes, angry villagers). There's also those that die from natural causes. It's still surprising but I can reason it out atleast.
      You know what really surprised me? Arapaima being more expensive than elephant. Those things are being farmed, abundant supply and lower demand.
      Snapping turtle leather is probably the most expensive right now, probably because it's a relatively new leather. The rarest would either be sturgeon or bullfrog. They look nice tho.

    Anyone have any experience with goat leather? Just got a pair in and they feel great, but I can't help but feel like they're really thin. Just wondering about the durability of them. I paid around 300 for them and really don't want something that's going to fall apart in a month.

    • @heatherva
      @heatherva 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The goat boots I got are the heaviest boots in my collection, so Im not sure.. I do know that its a bit more durable and more water resistant than cowhide. Just google "goat vs cow leather" and you can see the specs compared side by side.

    In my opinion, I don't believe that animals were put on this planet for the exclusive purpose of being made into shoes for arrogant humans. The callousness and hubris from the individual who made such commentary is not someone whom I would or will support commercially!!!
