  • A look inside Abigail's school. Her school is based on ABA principles and is exclusively for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. Each education is catered to the needs of the individual child at her school. Abbie doesn't benefit from traditional curriculum so her education is based around functional learning skills. Some of her day is spent in elective classes like her group music class which uses music therapy principles.

i have so much respect for special needs teachers. they have a tough job. i'm sure they've encountered all kinds of aggression, sickness, physical abuse and yelling. then they just get busy continuing to teach. they are special people, like angels on the earth.

I’ve only just seen this now but the amount of disrespect I see from comments like this. We have feelings too and as an autistic I know. Looking and just saying about how hard it is for people to take care of us ISNT nice and it makes us feel even more different and useless, so thanks for that.

I’m just so impressed by JSA!!! All the teachers, therapist and support staff definitely have gifts and compassion for dealing with this population of students who are often put in regular classrooms with a one on one and expected to learn. JSA teaches these children and adults such important skills that allow them to function in this world. Abbie, you were so impressive!!! Your smile and laugh are infectious and when you are sad and cry, you break my heart. I’ve grown to love your family through the vlog and I tell people about it daily!!! Keep sharing your world with us Maas family, you are educating the world on the blessings of loving someone with Autism and what an amazing family you have. Thank you!!! 💖🧩💖

This has to be one of my favorite videos. Seeing her progress so much fills my heart. I wish I still worked as a manager at Walmart because I’d totally hire her for something. Maybe my softlines dept doing repacks (putting missing socks, underwear etc back into packages people rip open- not returned underwear those get sent back) as it’s something she could do if she gets the assembly line thing down I saw in the video.
She could also do returns in a dept, like the return carts.

I just recently found a video on Facebook that you all have posted on your page and instantly came to TH-cam to subscribe. You both are WONDERFUL parents and Isaiah is an extraordinary brother. I adore the awareness you all bring when it comes to autism. I don't personally have someone close to me diagnosed but have a passion for psychology especially when it comes to children (18 years and younger). All of the therapy that you do is absolutely heartwarming and the amount of patience that you have is admirable. You will ALWAYS have my support and have me as a subscriber. Keep being the amazing and supportive parents that you are. Don't let the negativity of society draw you back from being the best you already are. Abby is progressing so well and I can't wait to see the doors that continue to open for her. Stay happy and stay safe, you guys!!!

Nala is too cute. I feel like Maverick is curious and a little nervous. Like, "What kind of dog toy IS this? Do I play with her? Eat her? Will she eat ME?"
Also, Priscilla, make sure all your plants are non-toxic for cats. She is bound to nibble, especially as she starts teething. Pet stores have taste deterrent sprays to help with training.

Hello!! I worked several yrs at a workshop in our town...at the time the term we used were adults with disabilities(the title/name changed many times through the yrs). It was a wonderful experience for myself and my two boys who were involved with extra activities we had at my job. It softened my sons hearts for these folks for life💛I absolutely loved that.
I’m so thankful for this experience. We had many jobs for them to work on such as assembly line jobs clipping tags, changing tags, reboxing sunglasses for instance. We also assembled parts for companies, and we also had a recycling center that they worked at plus numerous other outside jobs, mowing lawns, cleaning up around the downtown area etc.
It gave them the experience of being independent, time management, money skills, rewards $$,plus so many other job skills to help them in life. Also we had several folks placed in local businesses w/assistance from a job coach to help them to be confident and productive on their jobs.
Thank you for your videos I enjoy them so very much☀️

You guys are doing an awesome job, it’s a beautiful thing to have a team behind you. I feel bad for the ones that are doing it on their own that don’t have a team behind them or anyone to run to or talk to

It was so awesome seeing Abbie do all the working stuff in the classroom :) I was a TA for the Special Ed class 10ish years ago in highschool and for the students that were capable and had learned the skills, we would actually drive them to the Wendy's that was close to the school and they would wipe down tables, fill the condiment containers, and again depending on the student and how they were doing that day and how big the order was, they would sometimes carry the order to the customer (with at least one person by their arm.) It was so awesome seeing them grow in the classroom but then seeing them actually put those skills to use in the real world and actually get a paycheck that they earned on their own :) YOU GO ABBIE!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D YOU'RE AWESOME!!!!!

These baggies need to have a sticker or a little sheet sharing who put these bags together. I think it would make the person receiving know how more special their bag is.

Watching the school vlogs makes me miss working in that kind of setting so much ! Worked for 5 years as a teacher in a school very much like JSA. Miss it so much ! Only left because I moved and couldn’t find a position like my previous one. Currently teaching at a residential school for students who have EBD. So different. Makes me realize where my passion lies. Thanks for sharing ! Love your videos !

Abbie is doing so amazing! It warms my heart! Also it is a great project for the school. It helps those in need and can also help Abbie and people like her have the opportunity to find jobs in the future. It's just so wonderful!

Mother of a very tense boy dog here. Mav looks like he wants to kitty sit to me. Dogs LIVE for a job. It is the truest thing I know. My last girl dog went to the office with me for just over ten years. Every day. Even when I didn’t want to go, she did! When I fostered several litters of kittens, my boy dog was a full time nanny to them. They nursed on his curls! They loved it and thrived, he loved having a job. I hope Mav gets a chance to help with the kitten.

I'm not a parent (except of two demanding kitties) but this was amazing to watch. My mom is a substitute teacher and many times subbed for special education classes and loved the affect it had dealing with the kids. This is amazing how they teach them and give positive enforcement to reinforce it.

Loved this video, seeing Abbie at school reinforced my feeling that she has been doing SO great and she looked so happy to have Mom and Dad there. BTW, Maverick is NOT wanting to play. That intense stare could easily turn into an attack so please don't ever leave them together unless you are supervising until he shows a lot more "I am relaxed" indicators.

Thanks for sharing this. It was nice to see how many skills Abby is learning. So many skills. Putting things in the bag, and zipping the bag fine and gross motor skills. Learn how to count and recognition money is awesome, a must skill to learn for independence. I really enjoyed this as a day in the like of Abby! I love that these kids are participating in this active community helpers movement with feeding those unfortunate!

The work these teachers do is really other worldly to me. I don't know if I have it in me to do what they do and I'm so glad for this insight to see what is going on around this country. Something positive for once. I wish more of this was on the news! Thank you for sharing another new experience.
