I just rewatched this series again on Kocowa but it's weird when at the last minute, the theme song/ ost changed from the stray- the waiting person to my star! It def also change the vibe when I was rewatching it! Please fix it to back to the stray- the waiting person like on this video because this song suits jang hyun's the most in the last minute!
This drama (sigh) there is no words that praise enough the actors, they took acting to a whole other level. As a kdrama watcher for years this one took the lead, absolutely marvellous.
Their chemistry was insanely good ..... I realised in Kdrama older male.leads have better chemistry with their younger leads ..but this drama got a historical drama was top notch ..I binged watched both seasons in 4 days ,2 days each for each season

Ahh what a phenomenal actress. From her carefree self in season 1 to the transition and growth in season 2. There were moments, I was upset with her, especially when she chose to leave him but that is just a testiment to how phenomenal her acting and delivery was. The way she would look at him with tears in her eyes, would captivate me everytime, aahh I wish her nothing but the best in her acting endeavors.
Have to agree with you. What an annoying shallow self centered young girl she was in the first episode - I almost didn’t watch the series because she was so unlikable. And he was so arrogant …… although there were hints that he had some depth to his character. Her growth and development as a character was beautifully and subtly written and, between that writing and her extraordinary acting these changes were almost imperceptible but grow she did. And it wasn’t just his heart she won! By the end of the series I loved her (and her incredible strength and maturity) as much as I loved him.

They grow old together, gracefully and lovingly in their 2 bedroom home by the stream, where the flowers bloom and sing in every season. Neither one passes before the other. Instead they sit under the moon, watching it as is their custom every night, its light reflecting off their matching rings as they fall asleep peacefully in each other’s arms. They spent what felt like a lifetime longing for each other and now they draw their final breath… together. To the actors, writers, directors, composers and everyone involved in this project- thank you for giving us a love story that transcends time, one that is felt in every language and worthy of every accolade. I dare say this is the best drama and it would be extremely hard to top it. Thank you for reuniting our Gil Chae with her dear husband. Thank you for giving us hope that such a love that is willing go to the ends of the earth for you exists. Though this is the end, in our hearts they will forever live on. A stellar performance, both heartbreaking and beautiful. Thank you to you all and well done 🤍

Casting felt like heaven itself chose the actors, cinematography was like watching a movie every episode, dash in just the right amount of history to make this story feel real, the music that already feels classic, and a bit of magic and you have....My Dearest. The best drama I have seen in my life!
Nam Goong min is a phenomenon. He is not just a great actor, he is an experience. He makes us touch upon the essence he touches while acting... he is empty but still is overflowing... watching this drama felt like feeling the tsunami in a good way... ❤
The most beautiful, heartwarming and heartbreaking historical drama I've ever seen. A real masterpiece! The whole story, the characters everything was perfect. Loved every moments of it. The way they loved each other, the things they did for each other. A love story where we didn't hear 'I love you' but we didn't even need to hear that. Their acts were spoken instead. Finished it a few days ago but can't let them go. They're still here with me. Lee Jang Hyun became my other favorite male protagonist next to Do Hyun Soo from The Flower of Evil. I'm sure I'll watch this drama again. ❣
This is one of the most emotional scenes I have ever seen in a kdrama, I still cry every time I rewatch this scene. With the tears, the beautiful sunrise, the music, it was perfect for a happy ending. I might just binge and rewatch it again bc seems like episode 1 was such a long time ago.

I agree. I'll always remember the dream sequence of episode 1 and the final episode where the whole story comes together. I've already watched it twice, and honestly I might watch the series again another time or two before I can move on from it.
There's nothing more to say on this series. They ended the drama very "handsomely". I just wish they extended it till we see they have kids and united with Ryang Eum. But i am pretty sure, since he got his memory back he will surely find him as promised. Still, i am completely satisfied with the ending. Its very rare to see a happy ending in a historical drama. I love every bit of it❤

Eunjin was afraid of Nam Goong Min at first because he's such a huge sunbae and a serious person off camera but by the of this drama shooting they got Nam Goong Min doing mini love and apple cheek pose because NGM basically filming with a bunch of young millennials and Gen Z for a year😂😂😂
As a global viewers, as a person who've been watching over thousands of kdrama, MBC's My Dearest, so far, are the best kdrama of this 2023 by miles. Top notch in every aspect. Absolutely stunning. I already knew that Nam Goong Min is one of Korea's very best actors, and he did not disappoint. That gorgeous, expressive face sometimes made dialogue seem unnecessary. I was not familiar with Ahn Eun Jin but she was equally impressive. The transition from the spoiled, self centered young girl to the grown woman with the spine of steel is remarkable. Again, the gorgeous expressive face said so much.
I first fell for the series during their first encounter, at the swing. Tho is was a simple encounter, but i guess gil chae narrating her line really give an impact. Bro, jang hyun perseverance is really something else, and his enduring love for her was so painful, yet so beautiful. For me, there's some few lines in kdrama imprinted in my head, but i dunno why i find gilchae narrating their first encounter is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.. Ending the series with everything their first ( not sure how to put it in words) - gilchae found her love of her life - jang hyun heard the falls of blooming flowers, - gil chae calling jang hyun "my husband" - and jang hyun shyly excited her calling him that. Everything. Is. So. Damn. Romantic. Not to mention, how they think of each other whilst looking at the moon., the sea, and everything in between. Shit can't describe how the ending was so perfect. It didn't require heavy edit, just 2 person, atlast, only two of them, cherishing their love for each other. Eunjin & namkoong min is perfect. Can't think anyone can play that role. Perfect perfect perfect. Perfection.
If I were to choose the best kdrama of the year(2023) it will always be MY DEAREST again and again❤. It brings back the memories of the historical kdrama of Hwarang n Scarlet Heart.

cinemotgraphy, OSTs, acting, plot, ending..... everything was on point in this drama. still wish it could have been 30 episodes which it had originally been planned to be, but we move.... i guess.... anyways, ahn eunjin and nam goongmin and my dearest are about to sweep every award this year.
The piano keys building up to their song when he touches her face... you can just kill me now. It was such a perfect scene and everything I wanted. I didn't see that ending coming either... I was certain he was gone and I was so upset. The music, the cinematography the acting.. amazing. It was such a beautiful story and Namgoong Min... I cant get over how he is such an amazing actor. He expressed everything, no words were even needed... The only thing I feel sad about and I didn't think I would was what happened to RE... Is he just to be left there? Its so freaking sad. He didn't want to live if LJH was gone.... only for him to end up basically being tortured by his thoughts for the rest of his life seems way to harsh. This is truly one of the best stories I've ever been told. It is up there with Weathering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Titanic.. The love stories you never forget.
It's my first time watching him and I'm in love! His voice, his gentleness, his smile and gaze... ❤🥰🥰 Their acting and chemistry is phenomenal. How they portray the longing for each other is more than real that I can't help but cry with them.

Just finished the show. What an absolute masterpiece. Literally held my breath every time they were on screen together. The way this show puts you in cholk hold - just phenomenal - the chemistry of the two leads is perfection. THEIR EYES, their glances, silent moments, I will never forget this show ❤😭
I love that they ended together after everything. The story is really about poignant love that endures all pain/loss and persists even through the passage of time. But the best ending could have been in episode 20, for me. This ending left some questions unanswered: what happened to ryang eum? why hasnt anyone looked for him? will concubine jo ever pay for what she's done? Etc. And big hyungnim doesnt deserve to die. :( But I agree this deserves all accolades in upcoming awards show, especially a daesang/best actor for min namkoong and best actress for ahn eun jin, best couple, too, etc. 😊
Ryang Eum loved Jang Hyun BUT he was possessive. Ryang Eum was jealous of Gil Chae & he was determined to prevent JH & GC from becoming a couple. There's a subtle hint of homosexual love which was censured during the 1600 era. It's just right that Ryang Eum disappeared from the love story of JH & GC. If you recall, JH told RE "I could die for you but I want to live for that woman. I will not allow anyone to come between me & Gil Chae."
There is an extended version on MBC channel . Ryang Eum gets out of jail and goes to Gil chae they talk tgt and she asks him to live with her@@myrnariley7755

The male lead I first remembered him from the movie “Remember “🎉 Then I seen him again in Awaken 🎉 then the Good Manager 🎉and now My Dearest 🎉. He is such an AMAZING actor ❤️🥰❤️
i refuse to pay for 1 more streaming channel in order to watch the plethora of kdramas that i have fallen in love with.....so i have to watch short exerpts and snippets of kdramas that still touch my heart. these kdramas are soooo well made, which such beautiful storylines, and with THE most captivating cast of actors i have ever seen....so i may not have watched this drama in its entirety, but i have nevertheless felt the emotional pull on my heart and still i have shedded a tear or two❤❤
I watched empress ki which lead me to fall for jichangwook 3 yrs ago.empress ki was a masterpiece in every sense. After a long time my dearest gives me the same vibes . there is nothing precious and peaceful in this world than the deepest love from a mans heart. Empress ki gave me a hole in my chest, Tawan never being trully loved by his lover and the last scene broke my heart. But this drama somehow comfort me by its ending , though feel sorry for Ryung eum. Every dialogue is soo perfect, the lead actor and actress acted brilliantly. Watched a true masterpiece after a long time.

I just realized that there was a detail that I only discovered after watching this scene again. That when she said "The man in my dreams would approach me. So everything above me became turned green and pink sparkling" (She cannot see her man's face "clearly" in her dreams) Then the expression on "Lee Jang Hyun"'s face immediately changed and he was shocked then he immediately checked Gill Chae's face. This indicates that Lee Jang Hyun also experienced the same "dream" during amnesia. He always dreams of Gil Chae but always can't see her face clearly.

I'm from Ireland. I finished this incredible series last night 😢 iv cried so many times watching the series. The whole production was truly phenomenal. Two leading actors lit up the screen. Written Dialogue was superb.
The cast was top, the best of the best, ost very nice.. the rest has flaws especially the ending (the whole last episode actually). It could have been made so much better. Many things were left out or unexplained. Anyway, still worth watching for this couple who has a chemistry unparalleled.
they aired the extended version of the last episode. Ryang Eum wasn't insane and got out after 10 years of locked up. He was told JH died. He met Gil Chae who asked him to live with him to mourn JH together but he left. What happened after that to Ruang Eum is unknown. Then Gil Chae found out JH was alive and found him. This drama was so close to being perfect but the messy ending ruined everything and to think the last episode was very long...
The final episode gave me anxiety the whole time.. I just kept thinking it was going to have a sad ending.. so glad it didn’t.. I just wished we saw more of them living together ❤😊😊

well it didn’t ended the way I expected but they ended toghether so I’m satisfied with it 😌 I think it was not reasonable that he managed to get rid of that army so he could’ve simply passed away and thrown alive in the sea and rescued by that old man and make that surprise to gil-chae. I think it was not a good thing to the show that he lost his memory once again. We wanted to see them happy, maybe raising a family or doing husband/wife things. But as I said, he didn’t die so I’m ok with the end

Their chemistry was insanely good ..... I realised in Kdrama older male.leads have better chemistry with their younger leads ..but this drama was insanely well written , a historical drama that was top notch ..I binged watched both seasons in 4 days ,2 days each for each season

Eunjin was afraid of Nam Goong Min at first because he's such a huge sunbae and a serious person off camera but by the of this drama shooting they got Nam Goong Min doing mini love and apple cheek pose because NGM basically filming with a bunch of young millennials and Gen Z for a year😂😂😂

Absolutely stunning. I already knew that Nam Goong Min is one of Korea's very best actors, and he did not disappoint. That gorgeous, expressive face sometimes made dialogue seem unnecessary. I was not familiar with Ahn Eun Jin but she was equally impressive. The transition from the spoiled, self centered young girl to the grown woman with the spine of steel is remarkable. Again, the gorgeous expressive face said so much.
I first fell for the series during their first encounter, at the swing. Tho is was a simple encounter, but i guess gil chae narrating her line really give an impact.
Bro, jang hyun perseverance is really something else, and his enduring love for her was so painful, yet so beautiful.
For me, there's some few lines in kdrama imprinted in my head, but i dunno why i find gilchae narrating their first encounter is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard..

Shit can't describe how the ending was so perfect. It didn't require heavy edit, just 2 person, atlast, only two of them, cherishing their love for each other.

cinemotgraphy, OSTs, acting, plot, ending..... everything was on point in this drama. still wish it could have been 30 episodes which it had originally been planned to be, but we move.... i guess.... anyways, ahn eunjin and nam goongmin and my dearest are about to sweep every award this year.
The piano keys building up to their song when he touches her face... you can just kill me now. It was such a perfect scene and everything I wanted. I didn't see that ending coming either... I was certain he was gone and I was so upset.
The music, the cinematography the acting.. amazing. It was such a beautiful story and Namgoong Min... I cant get over how he is such an amazing actor. He expressed everything, no words were even needed...
The only thing I feel sad about and I didn't think I would was what happened to RE... Is he just to be left there? Its so freaking sad. He didn't want to live if LJH was gone.... only for him to end up basically being tortured by his thoughts for the rest of his life seems way to harsh.
This is truly one of the best stories I've ever been told. It is up there with Weathering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Titanic.. The love stories you never forget.

I love that they ended together after everything. The story is really about poignant love that endures all pain/loss and persists even through the passage of time. But the best ending could have been in episode 20, for me. This ending left some questions unanswered: what happened to ryang eum? why hasnt anyone looked for him? will concubine jo ever pay for what she's done? Etc. And big hyungnim doesnt deserve to die. :( But I agree this deserves all accolades in upcoming awards show, especially a daesang/best actor for min namkoong and best actress for ahn eun jin, best couple, too, etc. 😊
I believe Jang Hyun will go search for Ryang Eum after this because he's one of the people that he cares about. 😢
Ryang Eum loved Jang Hyun BUT he was possessive. Ryang Eum was jealous of Gil Chae & he was determined to prevent JH & GC from becoming a couple. There's a subtle hint of homosexual love which was censured during the 1600 era. It's just right that Ryang Eum disappeared from the love story of JH & GC. If you recall, JH told RE "I could die for you but I want to live for that woman. I will not allow anyone to come between me & Gil Chae."
There is an extended version on MBC channel . Ryang Eum gets out of jail and goes to Gil chae they talk tgt and she asks him to live with her@@myrnariley7755

I watched empress ki which lead me to fall for jichangwook 3 yrs ago.empress ki was a masterpiece in every sense. After a long time my dearest gives me the same vibes . there is nothing precious and peaceful in this world than the deepest love from a mans heart. Empress ki gave me a hole in my chest, Tawan never being trully loved by his lover and the last scene broke my heart. But this drama somehow comfort me by its ending , though feel sorry for Ryung eum. Every dialogue is soo perfect, the lead actor and actress acted brilliantly. Watched a true masterpiece after a long time.

I just realized that there was a detail that I only discovered after watching this scene again.
That when she said "The man in my dreams would approach me. So everything above me became turned green and pink sparkling" (She cannot see her man's face "clearly" in her dreams)
Then the expression on "Lee Jang Hyun"'s face immediately changed and he was shocked then he immediately checked Gill Chae's face.
This indicates that Lee Jang Hyun also experienced the same "dream" during amnesia. He always dreams of Gil Chae but always can't see her face clearly.
Ooooh good point, I can totally see that now that I think about it. This just made that scene even better.

The cast was top, the best of the best, ost very nice.. the rest has flaws especially the ending (the whole last episode actually). It could have been made so much better. Many things were left out or unexplained. Anyway, still worth watching for this couple who has a chemistry unparalleled.

they aired the extended version of the last episode. Ryang Eum wasn't insane and got out after 10 years of locked up. He was told JH died. He met Gil Chae who asked him to live with him to mourn JH together but he left. What happened after that to Ruang Eum is unknown. Then Gil Chae found out JH was alive and found him. This drama was so close to being perfect but the messy ending ruined everything and to think the last episode was very long...

well it didn’t ended the way I expected but they ended toghether so I’m satisfied with it 😌 I think it was not reasonable that he managed to get rid of that army so he could’ve simply passed away and thrown alive in the sea and rescued by that old man and make that surprise to gil-chae. I think it was not a good thing to the show that he lost his memory once again. We wanted to see them happy, maybe raising a family or doing husband/wife things. But as I said, he didn’t die so I’m ok with the end
They reunited after 20 years. It's kinda hard and risky to have kids at such an old age
