I love how the red plymouth fury becomes a dodge coronet when it goes through the carwash. You can tell because the solid grille of the Plymouth becomes a split grille on the dodge (it's still a 1 piece grille, just with a vertical bar in the middle). Also the turn signal lights are moved from the grille on the plymouth to the bumper on the dodge. That's why the taillights are different on the car going into the carwash vs the scene later on when it attacks Michael like you pointed out. They are in fact 2 different cars.
Interestingly, that same carwash was was used to paint the stolen taxi cabs in the A-team episode Taxicab Wars as well.

The "cutout" in the bumper for the receiver, was originally for the bumper jack for this car, which is a 1975 Plymouth Fury. And once the car exists the car wash, it turns into a 1975 Dodge Coronet.
Michael calls KITT a snob, and Devon hears it, hehe! Devon was very calm, if I do this at my work oh man, I'm in real trouble.

Did you notice that custom made killer is at first a Plymouth Fury -75 witch turns into a Dodge Coronet -75 at the car wash. Look at the front grill.

Not just the grille but also the turn indicators. The Fury has them in the grille and the Coronet has them in the bumper.
I love how you’ve taken your love for this show and turned it into something to study and enjoy in such depth. Nothing I do in life seems to bring me the happiness that knight Rider gives you. I’m kind of jealous lol

That Monaco/Gran Fury, is that the same car that would later appear on S4 episode of Knight Racer that would be equipped with a built-in pitch fork and would destroy one of the Heritage Edition T-Bird, former drone car from S3 Knight of the Drones?
Maybe, but those cars were a dime a dozen back then and used on literally every action series. The one in knight racer had a regular hood rather than the large raised hood that was on the cars in custom made killer.

I enjoyed the part of the episode where KITT had to 'sneeze' to get a woman off of his hood 😆

Based on the colors of the hockey jerseys, if it was a NHL game, it could be the Buffalo Sabres (White/Blue/Yellow) vs Minnesota North Stars (Green)
its actually the st louis blues not the sabres. Thats based on the jersey pattern not just the color

This is so fascinating, I loved how they used models in this,I truly couldn't tell the difference. I loved how KITT's voice box was working on the dash in this episode.I aren't keen on David with long hair.I really concerned for Michael though when the killer car ran him down.I must say I aren't that keen on David with long hair though. This is one of my favorite episodes of all time. By the way, Joe, you forgot about talking about KITT's preliminary medical scan graphics.
Smth I can’t believe you missed is that the red killer car is a Plymouth Fury, which then turns into a green Dodge Monaco after the car wash just to TURN BACK into the Plymouth Fury for a brief scene on top of the parking garage, just when KITT comes to the rescue. That’s always bugged me so much 😂

Is this the ep where kiss was leaking water on David during interiors I saw this on the DVD version last night and I was like WTH?
On my amateur opinion with the killer car, regarding the scene where it sped out of the top of the parking garage, i too noticed it did not have the rear sway bar. With how it slid out of there with all that axle hop, I always assumed they added it after that, and then they did the water based paint job that they could rinse off and filmed all of that last.

My best guess for the hockey team in green, is the Minnesota North Stars.
I’ve always liked this episode, however I’ve had a very frustrating history with it. When I first saw it on channel 5 in 1998, the tape I used to record it on got severely compromised by the 2nd hand VCR I’d foolishly bought at this time... So I was unable to watch this one for a long long while. Then when it came to the re runs on Bravo in the 00’s, I would always miss it for multiple reasons 🙄lol ! Eventually by 2005/2006 when I finally got my hands on the Season 3 DVD boxset, I was able to at last binge this one to my heart’s content 🙂👍

Great commentary Joe! You mentioned about "the mandates" for each Knight Rider episode; wasn't there one that also said there should be a Turbo Boost in each episode? If so, I don't remember this episode having one. Is it possible that supervising producer Burton Armus and producer Robert Foster decided to change the mandates? 🤔🤓👍
Well…Joe…remember episode Knight by a Nose…Michael borrows $20 from KITT…maybe all these arms and legs that pop up in the backseat are just fares so Michael can make some extra cash.

During The Actual Episode at 44:14 Mins In You Can See a Crew Member Which Seems To Appear To Be Holding The Boom Mic in The Sideview Mirror. On Here It's Right After Michael Gets Out Of The Car at 21:26 and Talks To The Driver. (To See The Footage It's Has To Be The Episode) And As Much As I Love Watching The Show Over and Over (I Had 2 Have it On DVD U Can't Depend of Streaming To Keep It When U Want It lol) I Never Noticed The Dashboard at 21:26 Great Catch Cuz It's So Fast. Michael's big hair was a feature on Channel 5 in the late 90s. It was part of a kids timeslot with a presenter between episodes and ad breaks. Kids actually sent paintings of Michael with his Big Hair.

Thanks for another interesting commentary. I always enjoyed this episode.Alan Oppenheimer gets to play a good guy and Kai wolf a very well done bad guy with something more than a regular car.James Luisi was lt.Chapman on the Rockford files and it was neat to see him.
Finally the one thing that I remember most is there was a pretty asian woman extra who wore a very bright purple out fit and when she is in any scenes even far away she was a distraction due to the bright out fit.

Also, I was hoping for a little bit more on the characters in this episode. This wasn’t one of my favorite episodes, but I really did like the cast chosen as they all worked really well together.
I'd love to own that Plymouth Fury Kai Wulff drove in this. Looks great with those Remmington tyres on. On a side note, the red car is a Fury and when it leaves the car wash, it's a Dodge Monaco
Close. Dodge Coronet 1975-76. The Monaco name was added in 1977 when they got the stacked rectangle headlights.
Always wanted a Coronet like this, with a big 440 V8 or maybe a 426 Hemi.
Great work with the miniature. Excellent. Yep. The Datsun 240z is a cool car, but not in the world of Knight Rider. I still remember that catchphrase like "You watch it...You're not behind your wheel now." White 1984 Camaro. Cool to see that, just like some episodes ago where we saw a 1983 Firebird.

I believe the killer car was 2 different ones. The red one was a 1975 Plymouth Fury, the green one was a 1976 Dodge Coronet.

That hockey game is footage from the movie Slap Shot. I’d have to watch the whole movie to see if that particular shot is in it, or if it’s just outtake footage, but here’s a clip with the two teams and the matching uniform styles/colors/etc with the numbers and no player names shown playing the game in that screenshot.
Likely this was used because it was a Universal film with no rights issues to the NHL etc to worry about, and it was 24fps film footage for compositing purposes.

Those bike trails are known in the railfan community as rail-trails (once used rail lines converted into trails for bikes and people to use)

The R on the train engine likely means railway. It looks like the had to cut the bottom of the bumper on the Camaro to fit the tow receiver. The slit cut into the Plymouths bumper might be the bumper's original jacking point for those old farmer jacks. At 17:08 you can see the reflection of the crew in kitts door.
love how the guys name is Joe Lewis like the boxer but spelled differently.
21:36 Ah, I thought Hoff's hair was going a bit nuts by this point in Season 3.
I'm going to hazard a guess and say that it's a game between the Minnesota North Stars (now the Dallas Stars) and the Boston Bruins, *probably* in Boston because of who's wearing the Home Whites, but don't quote me on the last point. The green and yellow is definitely the North Stars, and the other looks like Boston's black, white, and yellow, but I'm not as certain there.

Looks like their model was built for stacked quads and they kind of rigged up dual round lights behind the holes.
Have to wonder if the choice of Mopar was influenced by their availability from both real and model work with the Dukes of Hazzard.
That crossing flasher and gate is something they made for this episode.
Likely was built from a Dukes of Hazzard police car MPC model. I believe that and a Batman Gotham city police car were the only models in that body style and they were 77-78 Monacos IIRC.

They ripped off the idea of wash off paint from Cannonball Run 2. Red Countach gets washed to reveal it's white paint in the opening credits.
