One day, during elementary, I rented this game again. I played almost all night, not wanting to stop, until I beat it. I didn't know how to read the time, so I had no idea just how close it was to sunrise, but it felt like it was more than long enough. So probably less than an hour away. I was so glad that in this game, you have infinite continues. I lost all lives on the final boss at least 3 times, before I finally beat the game. On the level with the blow torch, when I finally figured how to get past the first apparent dead end, I still didn't figure out the trick with the flames. I just kept wandering and wandering around, until finally the blow torch worked every time. I beat the level, still not knowing the trick why the blow torch didn't always work. I didn't even see that the flame was going out. It just appeared to me to work whenever it wanted. Or like the walls were just being stubborn. Good thing there were no enemies or deadly obstacles in the level, or else I probably would not have been able to get past the level until my common sense increased with age. But I don't really feel like a winner of any SNES or NES game that I couldn't figure out and then tried at like age 25 and immediately figure it out. Except for SNES Yoshi's Cookie, SNES Tetris 2 and SNES Tetris Attack. Those puzzle levels with limited options can seem impossible to figure out all of. The end of the puzzle levels on SNES Yoshi's Cookie was so boring, so short. Tetris 2 puzzle ending was short, but with humor and cool music. And the surprise ending was one of many surprise endings of every 10 or 5 stages in the game. So the final animation was exciting, down to the moment before it plays. Wanting to see what it was going to be about or what was going to happen. Usually, one ending out of many is not so exciting. But these animations were great when I played up to my mid-teens before reaching the end, regular mode and puzzle mode. There are several games that I still like to play against a computer. Tetris 2 is the best. Really fast. Attacks ASAP is critical. The computer on hard mode is tough for a SNES puzzle game. And the attacks, the sounds, the music after an attack, the changing of the level of the water, all make this mode exciting. You gotta be quick. Eventually, when you get the hang of it, the fast-falling blocks from an attack on easy mode and normal mode actually make it harder, not because they're falling fast, but because you can't control how fast they fall. So actually, you can't make them descend as rapidly when necessary. So they actually slow you down and that buys the competitor time. But on hard mode, the quicker descend from an attack actually is often too quick. What I don't like is that the sparkling ones that when cleared are supposed to make the rest that are the same color disappear, they don't have that effect on computer mode or 2 player mode. So you have to clear each one individually. Which is less fun. I uploaded videos of a quick run through of the puzzle levels about a decade ago. But under a different account and name, since I stopped uploading. So when we switched to a different computer, I didn't bother recovering my password which I forgot. I started all over with a new account, but not for uploading.

My frustration transformed into fear, which led to nightmares for three years... It took until the TH-cam era for me to learn what I was doing wrong...
+TrueSolunar Oh gosh I knew those nerve endings were terrifying for a reason but I couldn't remember WHY until I read your comment. Those frigging inside levels scared the crap out of me as a kid. I still remember hiding in the living room while getting my brothers to play the mouth level for me. Also goodness I'd completely forgotten about the boss fight in that level, plus the end of it--I saw the upper part of the mouth coming down and about panicked. Levels where something is chasing you still terrify me to this day, but for some reason the upper jaw slowly coming down to bite you is another level of terrifying. What an absolute nightmare this game was. I can't imagine what possessed me to ask for it for my birthday as a kid.
No fucking joke. I was at a friends house when i first played this when i was around 5 or 6. That shit would absolutely scare the fuck out of me. Now watching it again at 18, I still get chills and remember the fears I had of the game.
i used to be scared of the level set in stimpy's mouth and the marooned level (both when i was 11, in fact i threw up in school the next day) but when i was 13 i got over it. it's not scary anymore. in fact, me and my friend made a future funk remix of the music (one of the major factors in why the levels scared me.)

Man's Best Friend was the reason John K. got fired by Viacom. Granted, it had it's funny moments, but even I'll admit that episode was very brutal, and could've easily led to Nickelodeon pulling the plug on Ren and Stimpy, but alas, Bob Camp stepped in. And while his three seasons weren't as good as the first two, you gotta admit, most of Season 3 was great. One of my favorites was A Yard Too Far. That ending always cracked me up.
