  • In 1968 Rodgers introduced a new theater organ, the 33E. 77 units were built from 1968 to 1973. This unit was built in 1970 and like anything that’s 50+ years old it needs some work, let’s get started.

Looking forward to the next one. I have one too I inherited. Has some hum too. Some keys don't work. I can't find Rodgers technical information though. Where is it?

There are Rodgers groups on Facebook that can be helpful.

Fascinating video! Quite a "sentimental journey" back to a totally different time in electronic instruments! Thanks for posting!

Interesting video - but I had to stop listening when the 'hum' was louder than your voice. A demo of the hum would have been fine. Trying to talk over it just became annoying. I hope you got it sorted.

Look at the dated electronics. loads of caps likely dried out. UGH!! Leaky diodes (very hard to find in some cases). Amps and PS caps need replacement. Lots of such. But...it is what it is. My personal experience: NOT HAPPY. All the work involved..and indeed it can be done. Suitable replacement parts are available. BUT...the resultant sound is .... just say that is in the ear of the beholder. MORE ROMANCE IN THESE OLDIES THAN SOUND!! I rarely play my RODGERS collection. If I am going to take the time, I do the Haupwerk PARAMOUNT organ digital VTPO stuff. NOW THESE SOUND LIKE THE REAL THING....AND I'VE PLAYED THE REAL THING PROFESSIONALLY. Anyhoo...the ole stuff is a HOOT!! Literally! Sounds like HOOTS..and toots...and buzzes...quacks, clacks, more buzzes, hisses, hums, .including 'whole lot of shaken going on'........HO HUM.

Hum is coming from powe r supply filter capacitors. Probably in the amplifier or preamp stage.
