This is one of Abba's more sad songs. Björn Ulvaeus admitted that the heartache of his breakup with Agnetha Fältskog inspired this song. In divorce no one really wins.

    • @donny1960
      @donny1960 ปีที่แล้ว +2

No Bjorn did not say that. He said this song was written a year before their Divorce. And is not about him and Agnetha. It was released around the time of the Divorce and everyone assumed it was the subject of the song. "Knowing me knowing you"....... Another breakup song was released in 1977...... So that must have been about their Divorce too...... Just happened to precede it by 3 years.

@@donny1960 This song was released July 21, 1980. Both Bjorn and Agnetha has said on camera and in written interviews that while the events in the song were fictitious the emotions portrayed in the song were inspired by the breakup and subsequent divorce. Agnetha has said in interviews that sing this song was very cathartic for her.

@@dinodasbunce6224 Bjorn said he wrote it a year before the divorce. The song is about a "breakup". Even songs written by others can give an emotion about a breakup if you went through one. Commenting about a song that gives you emotions does not mean the song was written about your specific breakup. So yes. This being released around their divorce added to the emotion of it. But it was still written way before the events everyone keeps saying the song is specifically about. Also as I said. Bjorn wrote the song from the women's perspective. A whole year before the actual event...... I still say the song is not a specific recounting of their divorce...... But a woman fighting for a relationship she thought she lost. So Cathartic or not..... It is not about their divorce. If you listen to the lyrics and believe Bjorn's timeline of writing it.

@@donny1960 This passage is from a January, 2022 article:
Agnetha said: "Björn wrote it about us after the breakdown of our marriage. The fact that he wrote it exactly when we divorced is touching really.
"It was fantastic to do that song because I could put in such feeling. I didn't mind sharing it with the public. It didn't feel wrong. There is so much in that song.
"It was a mixture of what I felt and what Björn felt, but also what Benny and Frida went through."
Now if, as you say, Bjorn wrote the song in 1977, I would love to see the source of your information.

Like they explain ABBA is a Sweden group, the most famous group for the Country. The musician Benny and Bjorn are great, they give that pop feeling to their music and the great voices of Agnetha (the Blonde girl that took the lead of this song) and Anna-Frid, They made so many classics, one of the best pop group in the history of music, they have so many great song, but the ones that cant miss is Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Take a Chance, Knowing me Knowing you, Gimmie Gimmie, Super Truper, but they have soo many,

I'm new to your channel and have just subscribed and love your personality and reaction. I especially liked your empathetic 'Aw' for Agnetha at 5.25. I'm from Ireland and born in 1970 so these Abba songs remind me of my childhood and later discos I went to - especially 'Dancing Queen' which was and still is epic. I like or love so many of Abba's songs. They really are an exceptional group. There are so many I think you will enjoy listening and reacting to. 'I do. I do, I do' is one of many I've known for many years, but recently saw a youtube video on a channel of 'Adrian Leon' of this song by Abba [made in Sweden for export 1975] - the song, the setting and the voices and smiles of Agnetha and Frida are amazing if you get a chance to react to it.

Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anna-Frid (Frida) - ABBA. I was obsessed with them when I was a little girl. They were one the biggest bands on the planet! Name of the Game is probably my favourite, followed closely by Super Trouper.

You should react to their new songs: "I Still Have Faith in You"... lots of pictures of the band. And "Don't Shut Me Down"... Both are really impressive seeing that they are all near or over 70 years old.

ABBA in the begining two swedish couples, meet inb1969:
    Agnetha (blonde singer) &
    Björn (guitarist songwriter)
    Benny (pianist songwriter) &
    Anni Frida (brunette singer)
Agnetha & Björn married in 1971, with two Young childrens
Benny and Frida married in 1978, withouth own childrens
both couples separated before the breakup of ABBA in 1982:
Agnetha & Björn at end of 1978
Benny & Frida at begin 1981
"The winner takes it all" (1980)
is one of the Best Songs by ABBA
and the Most sad and emotional too
The best lyrics by the guitarist Björn
and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation
    of
the blonde singer Agnetha Fältskog and her soprano voice
The lyrics is a fiction about a divorce,
it is not about Their real life,
although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences
and the realization of the legal divorce between Agnetha & Björn in the middle of 1980,
even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978
In fact, the song was more nearly in time to the split of Benny & Frida as a couple, only a few months later
"The winner takes it all" return ABBA to the Top of the charts,
gives ABBA their eighth #1 in UK after almost two years and half
Also was the fourth and last Top10 to ABBA in U.S (pick at #8 in 1981)
and #1 in US Adult Contemporary too
    "The winner takes it all"
was voted the Best ABBA song by the British fans,
and is the favourite ABBA song to the blonde singer Agnetha
and now in the new Voyage concerts at London that begins exactly one year before, the encore song is...
    "The winner takes it all"
ABBA have more than 20 worldwide hits,
Their biggest Is "Dancing Queen" (1976)
Their first worldwide hit was "Waterloo" (1974) when ABBA win the classic Eurovisión Song Contest in UK
I wish to You a nice week
    my best regards from
    Buenos Aires , Argentina 🇦🇷
    South America
