Thank you great Video, now I have claimed my receipts for 2022 and closed the year, but one receipt I need to take out how do I go about this as it is saying claimed & no button to delete Thank you kindly Catherine
Hi Mairead, thank you for the video. I have a Med 1 report for my medical expenses for 2022. The Med1 report is dated 28/02/2023. What is the appropriate date to use since the expenses are for 2022?
Not related to the topic, just want some clarification. If i change my civil status in my revenue account. Is my tax rate will be change as well? I mean it will be lowered? Let’s say my husband is not employed yet.
Very easily explained thank you, Mairead, I do have a question. You see on your page it shows a claim now however on mine it does not give that option. There is a mandatory box to tick which says the following. Please confirm you have uploaded an image of the Med2 Form provided by your dental practitioner by ticking this box. I am so confused. Could u please let me know what it mean if u know? I believe that s why it doesn't show me the options button CLAIM
Congrats for the contect, it’s great and helpful! I completed the income tax return for the previoua years, but the medical receipts still appear unclaimed. How can I solve it? Thank you very much.
Hi Mairead, thank you for a great video , clear and concise. When I upload the same dental receipt as you have, there is a yellow box bleow the upload area that says" please confirm you have uploaded an image of the \med2 form provided by your dental practitioner by ticking this box. Do I need to get a Med2 form signed and stamped for every single €60 receipt? Thats a lot of forms or can I get 1 for everything at the end of the year?
Yes, to qualify for relief, the medical practitioner must be registered under that country's laws to practice medicine there. Also, if that care was not available in Ireland, you can also claim relief on accommodation and travel costs.
hi, I wasn't aware of this procedure before I filed mytax just last week, for the first time myself. Mistakenly, I entered the total medical expenses amount in the section "Amount already claimed", also, so far I haven't uploaded any receipt as well (I have all). Can you guide me please how can i fix this...
I recommend uploading medical receipts. See my video on this. Then when you do the income tax return the total will automatically come through. Its a lot easier.
@@remotebookkeeper The problem is - when I try to amend the health expenses - the amount in the field "Health Expenses already claimed" is greyed out - means I cannot make it zero now. Even if i upload the receipts now, it will impact on the claimable amount.

Brilliant video what do you put a spect scan down as? Also if you pay excess on your VHI is that consider a doctor visit I pay 125 excess every time I have a procedure done in hospital? Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for the feedback! You can claim for what you paid yourself. So if you paid €125 excess then you can claim this with receipts as back up.

You should be able to claim your 20% back on medical expenses the year you started working in Ireland. You must have enough tax paid in order to claim. You will not know this until you complete your return.
Thank you very much for very informative video! A quick question, I am managing taxes in our family. Is it possible to claim health expenses tax for wife and myself in one go. Or each of us need to do it separately ?
Hi, appreciate the video. QQ, if you complete this for 2022 and thereafter (month or so later) you think of more credits, can you update these further in the same way again?
Any medical expenses uploaded for 2022 will increase your tax credits for 2022. You will pay a little less tax in your next payroll. Alternatively, you can hang on to claim receipts for 2022 until next Jan (after the year is complete) and you will get a lump sum back in a refund. This is provided you do not owe tax. Can I ask do you upload your annual tax relief forms from you health insurance in the same way or is it better to upload doctors receipts one by one? I have 4 years worth of health insurance claims and laya have an annual tax relief form for the last 4 years available to download on the app listing all medical claims that year.... do I upload them in the way you show here or is there a different way? Also, any medical visits that I forgot to claim for that year or was not eligible to claim from my insurance as I reached my limit, can I just upload them separately and cliam the tax back? I didn't claim on my health insurance for some receipts and its too late to do so now. Can I still claim tax back if they are within the previous 4 years?
Download the statement available from Laya. Upload this for each year applicable on the receipts tracker. Use the year end date of 31 Dec XX. Remember you can only claim for what Laya did not refund.
