Western ghats - A tribute to the Biodiversity - Birds ,Butterflies, Animals, Reptiles and much more.

  • In this video we have taken a small turn from our main theme of birds. We both are avid birders and when we wanted to do something on TH-cam, we decided to do this channel for birds but actually we identify ourselves as lovers of all beings of the natural world. Whenever we visit the forest we hardly limit ourselves to birds. We search for butterflies , wildflowers, animals, reptiles and insects. we sometimes just enjoy the scenery of the place and enjoy a beautiful sunrise or a sunset.
    In this video we wanted to share that experience and also show the fact that natural world is more than just birds. Birding is just one part of the overall experience. We wanted to show the importance of the biodiversity of the natural world and also the importance of habitat in everything.
    We chose to do this video about Western ghats because it is close to our hearts. We hail from the foothills of these majestic mountains and our lives are in a intertwined with it.
    We have not gone into the geographical details or any statistics regarding the range. We wanted this to be a calm experience and hence for the first time we used music for our video. After nearly 500 videos this is the first video we used music ! We felt that natural sounds are needed to create the right ambience for learning about the bird but for this we felt there should be a connection between bot the worlds and hence the music.
    We have also intentionally excluded the major predators like the Tigers and Leopards in the video as we felt we wanted to focus more on the the "not so famous" personalities of the Western ghats.

    Wonderful film! I enjoyed seeing and learning about all of the birds, butterflies, insects, reptiles, the elephants and all of the species that inhabit the Western Ghats. An amazing area that I hope will be protected so that its beautiful nature can continue. Thank you for this fantastic film. Greetings, Cathy

    Absolutely breathtaking images of our precious Ghats,indeed! I'm always in two-minds about these. As more people-birders,tourists,etcare attracted to such locations, more resorts,hotels,homestays,legal n illegal keep cmg up n not everyone is mindful of nature. More conflicts with animals(look at how some of the 'gentle giants' were treated recently :-( why do we act irresponsibly n destroy, if not give back?! 😕

    • @IndianBirdVideos
      @IndianBirdVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly our thoughts, if the last remaining forest is completely closed to humans and if no human interaction is allowed with wild, it would be really good for those poor mammals and birds. We greedy humans need access to everything from Mars to Ocean to wildlife around the world to internet access even inside deep jungle. Rich people take advantage of these situations and grab land at every corner in this world. Now for green washing, everything is an eco-resort. This Elephant incident was so cruel, we usually avoid visiting places where human-elephant conflict is very high, this time we took a resolution never ever visit these kind of places.

    It is obvious that a lot of patience,devotion and care has gone behind the video .Western ghats,read about them in my school days in Geography,the huge number of places,names,climates irritated many.We thought,what if we were spared these names.
    Today your video brings alive the exceeding beauty and charm of the place.Never been there but truly What a place!
    However I did not find as many birds as I wanted to see.
    It is astonishing that human beings were not fitting into the scene,thanks to the notorious image of hunting, poaching etc that comes into our mind associated with men.
    I really wish,your videos were included in classroom teaching so that students can say "Thank God we have a Western ghat" as unlike our times when we said Oh God!Why a Western ghat and Eastern ghat to tax our mind with useless names?
    Can't you really get this included in classroom teaching?
    I wish you all luck for your good work.
    But please make sure there are more birds and their calls in the next video.

      Yes, You are so right! Even here in Japan, where the population is decreasing, wilderness is disappearing, and in the few green areas remained they allow hunting. It is an unbelievable situation. Let's do our best to show that Nature is our Mother, our Teacher, and is more valuable than the economy.

    This is truly a beautiful video, with stunning scenery and extraordinary creatures. I had no idea there was such a picturesque area of India. I thought it was all dry. I looked up the Ghats area and saw how diverse it was and how incredible the landscape. I am concerned though, how do avoid predators such as crocodiles and tigers. Do you carry weapons?

    • @IndianBirdVideos
      @IndianBirdVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are very dry areas too in India but these areas are located to the North western part of the country. Rest of the country has good rainfall which supports a good diversity of life. Western ghats and the eastern part of Himalayas in particular are very lush in nature. India is the land of Tigers and water bodies do have Crocodiles but as long we maintain our common sense there is nothing to worry. Infact both the aforesaid animals are hardly a concern except in the night. The one's we watch out for are the elephants because of their protective nature for their kids. When we spot them on our path we respectfully turn back 😇
