    Fascinating subject!
I'm extremely interested in this kind of research. I've had a fantasy knocking around my brain for a while, regarding some future possibility of projecting thoughts directly from the visual centres of the brain and creating intuitive visual representations of concepts and information in 3D space, perhaps as a communication aid and a tool for learning/teaching, and although I am sure I'm not the first and last person to dream of such a possibility, I would dearly love to be involved in the animation side of it, were it a reality. I will have to settle for documenting it as science fiction for the time being.
In this talk Jack Gallant often touches on the problem of the sheer amount of data involved in decoding or translating brain activity, and the fact that every brain is different, but there is always hope when you have such fine minds across the globe working together on a subject like this.
