- When we are stressed and overwhelmed, we have to scale back to the bare minimum. If we only did what was absolutely necessary - to keep us from getting even more overwhelmed - what would that be? I share from my experience the 3 things that would get completely out of control if I did not keep up: dishes, laundry, paying bills.
If you can't keep up, how will you ever catch up?
Get rid of the excess, do these 3 things and love your family - listen to them, play with them, prioritize them!
Completely Overwhelmed? 6 Ways to Get Through a Tough Day or Season (1st video)
• Completely Overwhelmed...
What would you recommend to someone who is drowning? What are the bare necessities?
Laundry is my favorite chore! Maybe add to the list keep the trash picked up & emptied… or have everyone do a 5 minute pickup with you everyday. 💓

GREAT additions!! 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing, Carol. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! 💛🦃🍁
I had a motto when teaching my young boys how to do the things that always will need to be done and not calling them chores. Make it fun and it will get done. So I started incorporating that into the things I wasn’t really wanting to do but must get done… Which also brings me to… be at peach or find joy in doing the things. Sometimes it’s about gratitude like having enough. Having enough clothes to be able to wash them. Having hot water and a wash machine to wash them much easier than by hand. Be in the moment. Same with dishes I do agree with the paper plates too. Also if you know it’s going to be a busy week. Use a crock pot every day or every other ( one that the crock can go into the dishwasher) or sheet tray meal. Even making doubles to eat all week changing into other meals or freezing a second batch Another thought. Go to bed. If you are tired exhausted overwhelmed. Go to bed early for two nights and focus on your sleep so that you can actually think about focusing on your surroundings. She also mentioned flylady. If you decide when you want to do laundry or dishes etc. and you can start getting them done at those times or on those days It starts to become a habit / a routine. A bonus is washing something like towels at bedtime and tossing them into the dryer in the morning. You aren’t concerned with switching them during the day etc Another thing for bedding. Having two sets of sheets etc for each bed enables you to pull sheets off and remake on the spot and then having a week to get that bedding washed. (Another toss in at bedtime and switch to dryer in morning) Last thing. Flylady talks a lot about how long does something really take. 5 min to unload the dishwasher but that gives you an empty dishwasher to fill as the day goes on.
I would add trash needs to be changed regularly at the end of the day and I would also say disposable wipes are your best friend.
I am a single mother of three. I have two teenagers and a newborn 9 weeks old. My children never help even though I ask they do a half hearted job because they do not want to help. I am exhausted, no money and on a very low income.and my mother doesn’t help out at all if anything she causes more stress and likes to point out how dirty my house is. Really struggling here this video is very calming and soothing to watch thank you ❤
....wish I could help
Dishes are Priority #1 for sure! I appreciate you recognizing that we should use our highest energy time to our advantage. I always catch up on dishes after breakfast and wipe the counters and stovetop if needed because doing that basic reset of the kitchen somehow resets my brain to calm.

Teresa, you’re doing a wonderful job! 👍🏻

Thanks, Tina! 😊
Happy Thanksgiving!
Great advice you are spot on. These three things make such a difference. I would add trash but maybe that’s my pet peeve. We empty every trash can into the large kitchen can everyday no matter how full they are and my husband is so good about taking it outside. 😊
@@Brenda-t6f
Totally!! Several people agree with you and have suggested trash, as well.
I think it wasn’t really on my radar because my husband is also awesome at taking out the trash. I am awesome at pushing one more thing down into it so I don’t have to take it out. 😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing, Brenda!!
Thank you.
For your encouraging words how sweet you are

Hi Irene! You got it!
Of course, every family’s priorities will be a little different…
Thanks so much for watching and for commenting! 😁
I start in the morning with a cup of coffee, a prayer, and a notebook with four tasks listed. I feel if I can get those simple things checked off, I've accomplished something.

Hi Londa!
Thanks for watching!! 😁
Save your money on the cup of coffee you will buy at Starbucks or even Duncan, and put it towards a thousand paper plates comes in a sleeve... Thank me later.

Absolutely!! 😂👍🏼
Clean dishes as you dirty them

Definitely my preferred method!!
Doing this changed my life!!
Thanks for sharing! 😊
I really respect you and you have done quite a lot in your lifetime, but telling tired, overworked and stressed out moms not to leave a load of WASHED laundry on there countertop till they can get to folding it or on the couch In a laundry basket, is the WRONG way to go, is just not fair. Sometimes it's day by day and sometimes it's hour by hour, you should be congratulating Mom's for even getting a load done! If they are unable to fold it and put it in drawers the same day there is nothing wrong with that!
@@JJ-kf4kc
You are absolute right, CH!!
Thank you so much for this kind reminder. The last thing I would want to do is put pressure on anyone and the truth is that sometimes we can’t even do these three things. I do understand that amount of stress and overwhelm! ☹️
Flylady says, “Housework, done imperfectly, still blesses your family”.
I completely agree.
Thank you for watching and for commenting. 😊
@teresaelling-peacefulhome you are right to tell us to do it now, get it done tonight. Waking up to the mess, the unfinished laundry, is no benefit. You will wish you had completed it LAST NIGHT, not wake up to it still UNDONE...
@@elizabethsydnor5247
I also agree with you, Elizabeth. That is such a great way to keep on top of things. I think what @JJ-kf4kc was referring to was women who are drowning and even struggling emotionally with keeping up on everything. Sometimes the emotional component just doesn’t allow you to do things the way you would like to. In addition, these women often have other people around them telling them they’re not doing it correctly or they’re not doing it enough. That can be so discouraging!!
I didn’t have good habits, and although I was feeling overwhelmed, I wasn’t depressed or struggling emotionally. For me, I just told myself that the laundry would have to stay on the couch or the end of my bed because I was “just too tired“. But, the truth was I didn’t have a good plan, I procrastinated and I didn’t realize that just pushing through for five minutes, could make a huge difference!
I really love that all of my viewers bring in different points with such grace. We can all learn so much from each other!! 💛
