This makes no sense. If everything was fated to play out the exact same way, then the Whispers had no reason to get involved in the first place. If everything was always inevitable, then there is no point in the Whispers plot at all. Why introduce entities that are said to protect fate, if fate can't be changed? What exactly are they protecting if the outcome will always be the same? If Sephiroth needed the party to defeat fate to open new worlds, then the Whispers involvement makes even less sense. Why would they get involved when everything was inevitable any way, and the only way anything could be changed is if they were defeated? Another huge plot hole is Sephiroth having knowledge of the OG FF7 events. Killing Aerith in the OG game was the reason his plan failed. It's explicitly stated in the OG that Holy activated too late to stop Meteor, then because Aerith was in the Lifestream thanks to her death, she was able to stop Meteor using the Lifestream. So why would Sephiroth kill Aerith again, if he knows it's the very reason he failed the first time? It makes Sephiroth look incredibly inept.

@@foxeh123 That's exactly why I'm frustrated. The only reason I played Remake and Rebirth was BECAUSE of the whole changing of fate plot and the clear hints at changing Aerith's death. I'm frustrated that absolutely EVERYTHING they were working towards in Remake and even the majority of Rebirth, and even their trailers and pre-release developer comments were hinting at saving Aerith. It's just a theory mate and right now there are many. In the OG FF7 there were 2 theories and both make sense. The question was always "who was controlling who?" Was Sephiroth controlling Jenova or was Jenova controlling Sephiroth? Jenova was a shapeshifting otherworldly being who crash landed on the planet in a meteor and was sealed away by the Cetra. It's purpose was to merge/consume the lifestream and destroy the planet. The Cetra managed to seal Jenova but Hojo theorised that Jenova was very much alive and those injected with Jenova cells ( Sephiroth, Cloud etc) would try to reunite with Jenova. That's what the reuninon was in OG FF7. Was it the fact that they were injected with Jenova cells that Jenova was able to control them? Was Sephiroth a puppet the entire time? After Sephiroth's body fell into the lifestream it could not return due to the otherworldly Jenova cells present. This is why he sought the black materia. But was this Jenova pulling the strings or was Sephiroth now able to control Jenova due to the cells being injected at foetus stage. Was Jenova taking the form of Sephiroth throughout the game and led the party to bring it the black materia? The game in rebirth has taken a different direction. The white whispers are arbiters of fate and are there to ensure fate runs it's predetermined path. The black whispers are controlled by Sephiroth who seeks to re-write history. That is all we know so far. So no Cloud is not summoning those black whispers It's either Jenova/Sephiroth but we'll have to wait until the 3rd installment. The reunion now is something completely different as well.
I think I mentioned in the video that Sephiroth was controlling cloud until cloud blocked Sephiroth sword. Also I think it was confirmed that Sephiroth is controlling Jenova because he had a stronger will.
@@NerdGeekTalk I feel it's up to player interpretation. Neither theory can be successfully disputed. Sephiroth being the main villain is arguably the most favoured scenario. But him being a puppet or Jenova the entire time is valid as there isn't enough evidence I'm the OG FF7 to say otherwise.

It’s interesting that the black whispers (Sephiroth’s) are fighting off the white ones in the background, almost as if it’s intentional for Cloud to be there to prove Sephiroth’s point. The minute Cloud says her name the black whispers once again breach the wall of whispers allowing him in. Later when Cloud is holding Aerith in his arms and Sephiroth is laughing he tells Cloud not to weep because he’s an empty puppet with basically no will of his own, right there and then he flicks Aerith’s blood in Cloud’s direction and magically Aerith wakes up… the timing of that is weird to me. Almost as if it’s Sephiroth’s doing. Almost as if he’s trying to break Cloud’s psyche even more, toying with him and making him think Aerith is alive as she “wakes up”. Another interesting moment though, is when they’re sitting after the burial near the water and Cloud gets a pink flash/vision this time (which is different than the usual Jenova/green one) and we get another shot of Aerith falling…) I believe the pink vision is from Aerith trying to tell Cloud something.
