Thanks for being awesome. As bleak as the times may be, AVL has shown a level of love and community that is truly beautiful. Please be careful around the mud near especially near the river banks. A lot of very gnarly chemistry got washed down stream
You're so sweet, thank you! You're right, this area has seen so much love and the sense of community has been incredible. It's a great reminder of why I chose to live here and will continue to do so. Very true about the mud. I bought some rubber boots to be safe!
Great video. Cara, this video gives people a lift. As much as there is much to do, seeing progress gives everyone living there or watching around the world a sense of hope. If you have any feedback regarding Black Mountain, please share. Stay safe… Staff
Thank you so much. ❤ I'm glad this video is giving people hope. Through my videos I want to provide an accurate depiction of what the area looks like now, but also focus on the positives and all the good that's being done here. The Black Mountain Montreat area did flood some. I believe my next vlog style video will be focused there so stay tuned!
Great video Love the variety Im in Asheville but staying around my area in Arden. Not touring. So its nice to see. Getting my supplies from Biltmore Church. They also helped me find group to take down MASSIVE tree over my house. Thnx 4 sharing.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it! That's awesome that Biltmore Church has been such a helpful resource for you. Let me know if you need any contractor recommendations to repair your home!
Thank you for this video. Really helpful to see the damage as you drive around. Am curious to know how Hendersonville is doing. I can’t find much news on it.
Hendersonville is doing much better! Still many trees down, as is the cast in most places around here, but they fared better than a bunch of other areas.
I stayed at the Super 8 on Tunnel Rd about 2 months ago, now it is covered in mud and the root bar across the street is washed through, with the pool table in the front window, and the BP was at least 5 feet under, and the Mexican food truck at the bar, which I ate at, was also hit. I am bummed so bad and don't even live there. Keep the faith I hope they will come back.
I lived in Marshall I knew when I heard about the hurricane that the town was in trouble they should not rebuild so close to the river it will eventually overflow again or put in gravel and raise the base of the town by 30 feet
That is a Chinook Helicopter, not a plane. They are used a lot in disaster relief because they can carry large loads and obviously do not need a landing strip.
Obviously helping the people that drove up was my first priority, not filming them and having someone film me loading water into a car. The parts that I filmed were when we had a break. I can assure you I did not stand there doing nothing for 4 hours and watch other people work. 😂
Good job I don’t know you people but good job I miss it down there hopefully I can move back nits so beautiful and people southern women are so much nicer than up here
Yes, very bad shape. You aren't able to get there via car right now. The river has shifted location and is now where the highway used to be in Chimney Rock. The town has been wiped out and many were/are stranded. It was one of the hardest hit areas.
It's good the community is getting involved in trying to get the area back up to its greatness that it was known for.

It certainly is more vulnerable being by the water. Hopefully we don't experience another Helene for a very long time!
Any information on Carrier Park and the River Arts District?
It was there, not anymore.
River Arts is washed out
Yes, unfortunately both were badly damaged. I'll highlight them in a video at some point.
Man-buns, weed, useless, glass pipes, and art work washed away, it's in the French Broad basin now.
💗

I'm watching the video to see the point at which you actually do work volunteering

Potable water is safe to drink, or cook with; non potable is not safe to drink or cook with.
Yes, unfortunately we just have non potable right now. I've been hearing that some people who got water back lost it again, so we shall see.
I have medical problems so I am glad I did not see the hurricane I would of been up the creek without a paddle
Good job I don’t know you people but good job I miss it down there hopefully I can move back nits so beautiful and people southern women are so much nicer than up here
I heard chimney rock and bat cave are in bad shape
