The opening scene with the rear aspect of the house with all the outbuildings and the overgrown access road had a fairytale like quality to it. Tranquil inside and out. I love book so the bath/library would be my favourite space too. The owners appear to be a lovely couple. I wish them all the best in their love nest. 💚

She was miserable in (loud) Brooklyn and doesn't seem to be much happier here...Her garden in Brooklyn was so lively and warm and just radiant. This home and garden and the whole vibe here is cold and devoid of happiness and feels impersonal.

If you walk yourself into that main room and sit down you will realize how impractical the furniture placement is. Twin chairs, twin benches with no surfaces next to them to put anything down and that huge dominant rectangle that is too far from the sofa to be useful. Even the lighting is too far from seating to read by. The bathtub would be fun to have in the library. The sitting room looks comfy. Again poor lighting.
How is this home in any way “depressing”?!? First of all, the farmhouse itself is architecturally beautiful and full of wonderful character (from the early 1600s), it is surrounded by open rolling countryside in an absolutely gorgeous region (the Cotswolds), has fantastic gardens, rooms are spacious and well proportioned etc. Whatever your thoughts on their interior design, there’s no need to be purposely rude and dramatic about it. I myself love color, so it isn’t exactly to my personal taste, but I can absolutely appreciate their vision (inspired by the raw and authentic interiors of 11th century Haddon Hall in Derbyshire), and what they have managed to create (much of which is very beautiful).

That's why I mentioned in MY comment how "affected" they were. It's like they think the audience doesn't have a clue as to what's going on. I love me a good visual, but this idea that somehow they're just sitting that way naturally (even if they do sit in those positions all the time) and they're not trying to compose a shot. It would be much more natural and gracious if they just shared what they're doing with the audience. That would draw you into them instead of this "oh, look how stylish we are" sort of posturing. I feel bad for them. Seriously, I do.
