@@sophiazcolley Hey Sophia! I actually already have a tutorial on how to create holographic stickers in Photoshop, as well as one on how to scan in stickers yourself and cleaning them up! And in fact I also have one on how to make custom plastic textures!
i'm 13, and i love graphics. i go to graphics club at my school, and i love making posters and exploring photoshop and illustrator, and i am so grateful for a supportive fun graphics teacher too!! thank you so much for making these simple yet efficient videos :) ⭐️
really liked the video, saved it in my playlist for future purposes, also i am new to this field and learning about graphic designing, it was fun to watch your video
have watched a lot of other tip videos but none of them was as comprehensive and thorough as yours! this was the first video i watched of yours and i already subscribed and looking forward to watching all the tutorials you linked. thanks from a beginner designer!
Hey, thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad to hear the video was helpful, and I hope you enjoy the rest of my content as much! If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to join our Discord and ask for help!
Definitely #1 is learning the shortcuts, it became second nature for me and now i have to alter other programs to match photoshop/illustrator's shortcuts hahaha, Also for me taking a class in the basics of Adobe Illustrator, and an additional one about drawing in illustrator was essential for me. For illustrator the best thing i did was to learn the pen tool inside and out!! Do that and you'll be unstoppable.... and impress others by telling them you drew a realistic portrait with the pen tool in illustrator lol. My favorite piece of work is still my portrait I did of Bella Hadid entirely using the pen tool in illustrator back in 2017. Wish I could post a picture of it in the comments honestly! Keep up the great videos! Love the tips, even when I feel I already know them it's great to be reminded of the fundamentals and to hear from other creatives to keep on track, and stay inspired!
Great video!!! Great tips super helpful! Tip i can give any new creative: Keep being creative and work towards your dream. If majority of your work isn't what your passion about or you got a gig your dont love, use it to gain the skills you need to keep working at the passion or dream gig. Also sometime its nice to have that day gig pay for the ability to follow more passion freelance jobs/gigs. Just like Tom said with doing more assets than just a music cover, same goes for other graphic aspects. Client needs shirt graphic, offer a mock up, tech pack or a promo graphic of flyer for the final production piece or for pre orders. Lets your design skills lead your other creative skills!
DREADLABS!!! can you please make a video on frutiger aero, i know it’s not really close to *your* style, but if there’s anybody that could make a killer video on it it’d be you. please do a lot of research (i trust you would) before hand, like many know how to do the orbs, but also like abstract streaks used in 2000s desktop screensavers. also like option bubbles, like the ‘buttons’ on the wii sports menu (for ‘tennis’ ‘boxing’ etc.) i’m sure there’s much more. lmk if you’d be willing to give it a shot! i love your content!
Hey, thanks for the suggestion! I’d definitely be down to do a video on it as I grew up during that area! For now I highly suggest checking out Cody Vondell on TH-cam, he might have a tutorial on it already!
3:23 very useful, so much so that have you thought maybe that in order to make up for this gap you could raise your hourly pricing respectively? if you rule that out that's fine, but just don't tell people to ultimately cease from charging hourly.
That's possible, but you can't justify raising your prices to the same client every single week. You can however justify naming a price per project upfront everytime you start a new project. If you want to learn more about this topic I suggest checking out Chris Do's talk about it. Hourly based pricing doesn't make sense for creative freelancers, value based pricing does.
Year started off slow, I made good money last year so I know it’s possible to scale big as a freelancer. best advice I took was creating relationships and collect your clients emails to periodically send offers to
@@Dreadlabs I super appreciate the reply! I meant to reply sooner. i never found your video (searched the title/author) but could find it on google so cheers.
17:00 thats actually wrong, its the opposite, when you get paid by "family and friends" there is no way they can refund the money unless you send back the money, while "for goods and service" they can refund the money claiming they didnt recive the design since there is no shipping code etc, so try to get paid family and friends if u suspect that they might ask for a refund, same way u should be careful when paying since if u pay friends and family there is no way u get refund the money
Are you sure? Because I’ve had this with a client (actually a scammer). They disputed a refund but only if I complied to it they were able to get a refund. This was back in 2021 however so it might be updated in the meantime
Will you send me a business card if I join your patreon?😂 This is a really good video with lots of helpful info. I’m not a designer by any means but you’ve convinced me to join.
@@Dreadlabs I guess it’s just personal preference because on Pinterest i always feel like like I’m scrolling too much looking for stuff I’m actually interested in, and on Behance I’m literally overwhelmed with god tier inspo just on start page. And I’m always jealous of the jobs people get and post there. Do you have experiences with it aswell?
That sounds dope! I do love the in depth case studies on Behance, sometimes it’s a bit hard to find what I’m looking for exactly, which is where Pinterest just throws so much at me that there’s always something interesting to see for me. I think both have their charms and their weaknesses!
Any tips I forgot to mention? Let us know your tips to your fellow designers!

Great tips!!! Thank you. I will definitely subscribe now & think about purchasing in the near future ❤❤❤
Very educational and very true, these are things we must practice to improve in design as an artistic discipline.
Thanks for the video 💪

#8 is big. organic networking is the way to the top as a freelance designer. fiverr can help but it can't be the primary avenue for client outreach
Sometimes the most simple answer is just the most logical: Do good work and people will want to do business with you! :)
thanks my man
Happy to help!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
thx!
Great video! What were the books you were flicking through on tip #38, please?
Those are from Masala Noir, I recently uploaded a video about design books featuring them!
Great video! where do I find the spread sheet you mentioned with the information on how much designers charge around the world??
It’s in the description!
I guess I missed it :p thank you!
more ppl need to listen to tip 22 for sure. ppl be texturing their stuff to dust
Agreed!

If someone pays you via Paypal as family+friends- is there a time limit to how long aftet they can withdraw those funds?
Not sure- best to check that on the Paypal helpdesk!
