Thanks for the video. I enjoyed watching and seeing your layout. I am just starting a new one so maybe I’ll need to take you up on your offer to ask questions! Thanks again.
Like your switching. Where did you get all of your backdrops? I am just starting my first HO layout at 75. Using plaster cloth and hydrocal over cardboardlattice. Looking for some good far away backdrops.
Good Grief Dude...!! This is a Very Nice effort you have here...just a superb operation. I wish it were bigger, and that there was more of it. Your cyclone (chain link) fence looked Real Good.! Were the links green.? It went by kind of fast. Very realistic. All of your tanks were excellent as well. Especially those two big silver tanks at the Grain Silo facility. They are shorter and chubbier than the silos...and have a pointed, conical roof. Those are Very Impressive. Yeah...your scrap yard came out nice.....has a very dingy and used look to it...like it has been in operation or the last 73 years :-) You guys from The South.....you all, kind of, have a slow, hypnotic way of speaking. The timbre and speed of your discussion is relaxing to hear. I have noticed that in most all you guys. (FWIW...I am USA CA 94585) It is kind of funny.....it makes you all sound like such nice/decent people :-) But Anyway.......I have subscribed and will, for sure, take a peek at your other vids. Also look forward to updates on your layout.! Take Care My Friend
Sorry to be a late comer here, I like what you've done. Sorry you are no longer active on TH-cam. For some reason TH-cam just had your channel pop up in my things to watch, so here I am. I wish they'd have let me know about your railroad back when you were still doing videos. I hope you are well, I know what it's like to not get around as well as I used to. Enjoy Your Trains!
Hi. I just deleted my original comments after watching vid again today..I felt it better to just say that I too like switching and in fact do not like continuals/roundy rounds, along with this; only point to point... Your work and explanations are spot on... My kind of RRing... M
Hi. I'm Neil, from the Tampa Bay, Fla. area. I realize that this comment is coming 6+ years after you made this terrific video...Hope you're still in the hobby!! A question, not being critical, but something seemed 'off' just a bit; now I suppose that your layout's region might have a rail museum, and that this video's star switcher (no 350) might have been moving a museum car...but that steam-era, short height, silver-roofed-with-a-roofwalk (with long ladders), boxcar, or possibly a reefer, just behind the diesel, is a curiosity ! It's even has a modern CSX paint scheme ! Again, no criticism, but your wonderful, modern-era theme is a vast contrast to that otherwise handsome car. Again, here in 2020, I hope your still active in the hobby !!
Watched the series. Long time to last update, but lookin good. When switching do you use some sort of car forwarding, perhaps even shuffle waybills to generate switching? Robert
Thanks for the comments. I use a car card system. It is the one sold by Micro Mark. It works well for me, but I think for a large layout a switch list system might be better, but I would have to test them both to see. Thanks again for the comments. Lane
Nice, but you could stand to operate a little more prototypically. Better to drop your train before you lift from the sidings, instead of backing the whole train onto each industry, and I should think railroads, depending on what they're loaded with and how many cars, will try to avoid moving the tank cars too much, other than running over the road, terminal to sidings, and vice versa.
You might have just answered this. Are all your decoders Soundtraxx? Very nice! Please keep on making videos. We need more good train videos. Thanks for sharing!
Didn't see any "F" for "Front" on your loco side sills. That will let the engineer know how many whistle toots to make for direction per GCOR. Used to be a conductor so had to know the rules.
Let's not be L7 ! Copy that !... Say, Isn't it rule #19 that is "Dim headlight when approaching a station !" ? [ a yard, a team-track warehouse, passenger depot , engine house, station stop are all stations in my book ].. Oh, the sense of humor in this hobby, to boot ! Is truly, THEE greatest hobby (unless, to you, trains occupy below-zero space in your brain whatsoever, 1:1 or 1:87 scales (and I've/we've known too many right in our immediate circle !) in the world !!!
Awesome video. I think I'm going to do a big grain elevator like that on the Illinois southern short line. I'm hoping to do a new video in the next week. Hopefully you have checked out my channel? But I'm like you I love the switching part of a layout. Like your layout mine will be a point to point railroad. My main line will be 150 feet. And industries everywhere. A whole lot of switching but that's what I want. Thanks for sharing I like watching your videos.
Yes I have checked out your layout and I am very impressed. I wish I had the space available that you do. I believe it will look really awesome when you get it built. I hope you have taken my advice about the 24" radius curves on your helix. Good luck and thanks for watching.
hey buddy remember me???? it's been a while.. how are you doing??? any how... your layout is looking good hope you get the chance to check out my stuff.... thanks for sharing & i hope all is well vinny
This is the first video I've seen of yours, this is a fantastic layout. I'm glad you took the time to describe your layout and give us a tour.
Amazing video of a awesome layout! You have a very keen eye for details and it shows in your railroad. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed watching and seeing your layout. I am just starting a new one so maybe I’ll need to take you up on your offer to ask questions! Thanks again.

How do you make your trains run so smooth mine don’t run like that
Great looking layout !
Nice video! Love the slug!
Thanks, it was one of my favorite builds and one of my favorite locomotives.

THANK YOU FOR DETAIL VIDEO ON YOUR DETAIL LAYOUT

Leave tank cars on siding get box car with other box car. Do not fish with tank cars.
