Josh, I liked how you made the boom tent on the run so I did the same in the backyard. Pretty much followed your method and it worked pretty well. I had the luxury of a sewing machine to stitch some velcro into position. I used a dodgy blue poly tarp but it will do for the boat regatta in a couple of weeks and then I can use a better quality fabric using it as a pattern. Thanks for the inspiration.
Move the cleats or put folding cleats in their place. also you could try reversing the main sheet system. single line to hand at the back and multi purchase to the front. get some 150mm pvc tube , cut two rings 50mm wide and split them at one point, attach them to the boom, run your main sheet through these to keep the slack from strangling you.

@@DinghyCruisingKingfisher Haha! Not sure if there is room for both the camera and myself in my Seahopper, but I shall see what I can do... Still, nothing beats the fine quality of the videos done by you, Paul and Roger!
Wow - I told Gene he’d grow to love Trim, but I think he’s smitten now! What a fantastic shake-down cruise. The perils of TH-cam sailing (not waking the neighbours) was very cute :)
Hi Josh, I think I saw this Navigator for sale up here in QLD....and I nearly jumped at it (but I already have a 15 foot Argie...), glad to see you picked her up.
Josh, do you find that the Navigator with it's side decks is a dry sail? My Argie has no side decks and I am contemplating adding 5 inches of side decking.
@@jasonstork9606 I have found her a dry sail but as yet not truly tested. The Argie is such a terrific boat, one of the Raiders has one. He doesn’t appear concerned about the design and is an experienced offshore yachtsman. Food for thought.
Hi Josh, re the cleats catching the mainsheet. You could make an elastic loop with two wooden wedges that that fit under the ends of the cleats and taper down to the deck. I've done this on a boat I has and it works well.
I recommend moving your mainsheet tackle to the aft end of the centerboard case. That’s where John’s plans show it should be. Works great on my Navigator. No snags.
Yes Josh I would second moving to a centre mainsheet system! outboard motors and aft mooring cleats have a devilish tendency to grab ropes when it would most embarrass you.....
Wow, a displacement hull should never be towed faster than it's theoretical hull speed. For a boat that has a waterline of approximately 16 feet, the THS is 5.4 knots. If a Navigator can plane, that's great, but being towed at 1-2/3x puts a lot of strain on your tow point connections since they're trying to pull you over the top of your bow wave.
It was the shear pin in the prop - hitting debris in the water. Lack of experience on my part meant I wasn't carrying a spare. The motor runs fine! Thanks for watching, Josh
@@DinghyCruisingKingfisher Aha I was going to suggest that but you already discovered it. Now I must go and check my spares box to see if I have a spare on board!

Another interesting day on the water!
Never the same twice!
Trim is a beauty! Excellent video. Thank you so much!
My pleasure, thanks for checking in with us again.

Great Josh and turned around so fast, thanks for making it a great and exciting trip, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul. Had a glitch in one clip, tried rendering it 5 times. Ended up snipping the clip out on TH-cam Editor.
Superbe vidéo merci pour vos aventures
Merci. You are most welcome.
Nice video, FIshermans beach looks like paradise.
Yes, a nice spot indeed! Thanks Dave
Great video josh and glad you're enjoying trim.
Thanks Stephen. Bit of a learning curve but yes enjoying immensely. Thanks for your kind words, Josh

Sadness is when your videos come to an end... Looking forward to your next one! Thanks, Josh, and cheers from Japan.
Thanks for your kind words, nice to hear from you again Mike. Spring in Japan must be very welcome!

I was worried about that at the time - I relied on the fact that they do this all the time. They slowed to 7 knots for most of the trip.
Spend a little extra money, and get a Yamaha outboard. They don't break.
