Ngl I really didn’t vibe with sneakers it was all right, Boys like you was never better with more listens, but this was def my fav title track of the year, this particular style from them really hit me and it was a refreshing change for sure. Feels like they are still trying to see what they can do as a group, glad they gave us this one before the end of the year 😃

as a song it was.....ok? It's hard....if your chorus is just going to be "la la la la la...." etc, the hook better be a good hook (like take Triple S AAA "Generation" for example). This song just felt like it was written in pieces and then just put together, then some odd chords at the end of each section. the b verse and pre-chorus kinda just dragged on a slow build up to the not quite catchy chorus. I don't know, it's a well done song but wholly unremarkable. Obviously a group like Itzy will have their fans trying their best to make the best out of it but i always think how would this song do if it were an unknown rookie group. I don't think this song would even get a rookie group past the beginning of a weekend show and that's kind of the problem these days. Rookie groups group from tiny unknown or new companies are debuting with BANGERS and JYPE comes out with this for a pre-established POPULAR group. It's really a failure on JYPE
That's the issue i have when comparing Itzy to other groups and comebacks. They're still being treated like they are a rookie group comparing them to Aespa 2021, NewJeans 2022, etc. Itzy has been out for 3-4 years now. They were literally teenagers during debut and are now young adults. You're eventually going to have to break out of that stigma of cute/teenage concept at some point (Look at Got7's progression from POP to RnB). I think this song was a nice change considering that for years netizen have criticize them for not showcasing their vocals and that they''re strictly a dancing group. This song showed Chae and Yeji's vocals which i didn't know they could hit. The song is mellow but it's a nice change for them. You go with the teeny pop concept (sneakers, boys like you) it gets ripped apart. You go with Stray Kidz routine (Mafia in the Morning) you get ripped apart. Not every song has to an iconic hit. I appreciate that they're progressing and not typecasting themselves. This goes with all musics btw (Lincoln Park, Waka Flocka, etc. they've all explored outside their typical genre).
