In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.

He does it quite a bit in his standup.
It’d be funny if in the 45 minutes of Taskmaster final edit, it transitioned into Greg’s small talk at like 15 minutes in, then 30 minutes of small talk and we miss the last 3 tasks
It'd be fun.........but a bit like the 'Losers Series', you could only do it once.

It feels like this series has been edited down way more than couple more recent ones. It's pretty evident from the final product that a lot has been cut.
I wish they release the videos of Alex and the crew losing it while filming tasks. All seasons.

@@aaakkk112sounds about right. I went to a filming once and it took about 2.5 hours from memory. Of course a lot of what they cut out just isn't interesting enough to include but there is a lot of great material too

I has been driving me nuts for years too! and I first I thought it was heaven and I convinced myself that someone else was controlling the screen from the back because it would be so much easier 😂
I could have sworn Alex said on the podcast that he wasn't actually controlling anything with it. Or maybe it was just Greg.
Greg has made jokes a couple of times in episodes along the lines of "stop pretending you're controlling things from your iPad". I've always assumed it was just for show.
I'm amazed nobody called out Alex's "we don't know how Greg will score them" nonsense. Why can't they type it in live *from the control room*?
I remain sure he doesn't cue the VTs on it. They're not fooling me.
The fact we don’t even need to see Greg telling a random member of the audience to “shut the fuck up” to know that it definitely happened.

@@chrismanuel9768not my experience as the only woman in many meetings. It’s a sausage fest of men arguing and making their voices louder and waffling. No decisions made. Just egos trying to one up each other. I have to reel them back in and get them to come to a decision: it’s exhausting.
Greg doing small talk with an audience member, turns to Alex - "You wanted this" felt like every interaction I have at Christmas with relatives I haven't seen in a year.
“No but you’ve already told her to shut the f**k up, you need to be nice” too too funny
"She can't remember your name." That whole chat makes a lot more sense now.
Yeah it sounds like the conversation went something like

Apart from the bit about Wem--there isn't another comedian that's from there.
@@srivijaya9520 But if the aunt was in a contest in Wem in 1962, it’s entirely possible the comedian she’s related to is from somewhere else. Even more so if it’s an aunt by marriage, not blood.

Greg seems absolutely baffled by Sophie and I am living for it.
He also seems utterly enthralled by Nick. It's adorable.
Watching him pick blatant favorites, and often announce them each series is hilarious.
Honestly, who didn’t fall in love with Nick within 5 seconds of seeing him?
He’s a very good actor because I genuinely disliked him as Nate (Ted Lasso) and then saw him as himself and I’ve never been the same ever since 🤣

@@clairemontoya2791 Mr Swallow is a great character when i've seen him on "8 out of 10 cats does countdown", "9 " sounds even better! 😀...... but i think he's even better with his acting skills in "Ted Lasso" and "Renegade Nell" the latter just appearing on Disney + as a pixie,

I empathize with Greg and John. I assumed that the iPad was really used in the first couple seasons when there was a bit of a scrappier feel, but I thought they'd replaced it with a different method and Alex was just keeping it up for show at this point. Makes me wonder about the intricacies of how the system really works.
I would love a behind the scenes on the app on that iPad used to track scores and launch videos.
They probably just use a generic shared desk app, with a screen in the box so the studio controllers can see his notes.
Or, he is actually controlling the whole thing from his ipad. Which VT to queue up, pulling clips and edits, e5c.
I'd thought it was merely a prop because I could've sworn I'd remembered Alex actually saying that at some point in the past, but apparently that's wrong
@kevinw712 he did definitely say that.. I remember him saying it but not when or where! Maybe it changed after the move to ch 4..
He talks about it in the video "Alex Horne's Reddit AMA - Part 2 | Taskmaster" at 8:21, but that's also a mix of jokes and actual info. I'm sure there was somewhere else he talked about it too, though

This is literally like the third time they've said 'Taksmaster' in the title and that's only the times I've seen it. I wonder if it's an in-joke or just the producer who uploads it has a tough time with the name specifically.

I’m pretty sure Alex said on The People’s Podcast that he and Greg find them exceedingly uncomfortable, so you might have to save that task for your own fanfic. Sorry.
@@jennycox4463 I haven’t listened to all of the people’s podcast yet-do you remember when he says that? It’s come up a number of times in interviews and on the show, and I’ve always gotten the impression he finds it bizarre but highly amusing. I hope it isn’t making him uncomfortable :(

Anything task involving writing usually has Alex doing something questionable anyway.
Greg and Nick need some type of show/vodcast. Their vibe, energy and on-screen chemistry is so organic and keeps you engaged in even the most mundane topics. Like watching 2 buddies just hanging out. And they're so funny!! Would happily watch them just chilling and talking for hours!
Some enterprising grime artist needs to sample Greg shouting "GANGBANG" and fashion it into a hook.
It bodes well that we're only a couple of eps into the series and there's already a compilation of outtakes. By the end, we should be up to at least Part 5 or 6. I'm loving the convos between Greg and Nick. Time for a contemporary version of The Odd Couple? Or Twins? Or Start the Revolution Without Me?
For real, well done to the bloke who won the Infinity Gauntlet. You are beyond us mortals and I hope you use it well
What I love about the Pam and Willy conversation is clearly Greg or someone in production said “Do a bit of small talk when they introduce you” and that’s what she came up with

These normally pop off half way through, this seasons is gonna be chaotic great. I can only hope for behind the scenes laughs every 2 episodes.

I wonder how much extra work it would be for the production team to do Taskmaster XL edits. TH-cam doesn't have the time constraints of a broadcast slot and there's definitely an audience for it 😃
I wish they'd release the uncut episodes, even if 3-4 hours from Greg and Alex talking to the audience to everyone leaving the set, would watch every second.
@@shikarifox4337 The thing is, as far as I understand an episode is putting together footage from all the different cameras and the VTs. If that's the case then it's not so much having uncut episodes, as stuff that wasn't put into the episode when putting it together for transmission. To have the full footage recorded om the night you'd either have it from only one camera, or have to split screen it. There are at least 4 cameras just for the studio bits with everyone in their chairs, judging by the angles and shots we get in the show.
@@musical3lottie the way whose line is it anyway US did it was by using the main stage/wide camera as the default and only doing a minimal amount of editing. IE for the Greg and audience bit it'd just stay on that camera the whole interaction since they were already swapped to that camera. But in scenarios where they normally go back and forth, they just don't edit it down and it stays on the wide stage camera.

I had my doubts about the iPad early on, but there were some math being done by Alex in like series 2 or 3 that made me sure he was pulling the string in real time :D

I think this is my favourite outtake of all outtakes we've seen so far, the tablet bit was so revealing
To be fair - someone backstage entering the scores and then showing them on screen might be more efficient, since Alex would be able to engage more in the conversations without worrying about entering correct things in. The tablet is more useful for reading info about timed tasks etc, which should not be on the teleprompter as not to spoil the surprise.
Next they tell us that Alex is actually prompting the clips, especially when Greg wants to see a bit again.

I was in college when they filmed the stadium scenes at County Stadium. It was easy to identify with Cleveland when the Brewers had been, uh, underperforming for so long. Made us feel part of it.
Does this mean we'll get outtakes every two episodes? I'm always happy to get extra Taskmaster!

I think this is only the second time I’ve ever heard Alex swear!
He has sworn plenty before, when quoting someone else's words (like he was there too). Only once has he been shown actually swearing himself though (I think it was Munya's task to do the best catch - he made Alex throw a ball over the house and they had to do it tens of times to the point Alex's arms were hurting, IIRC).
Is every single moment of this show going to be this hilarious? They should just broadcast from the moment the guests arrive to when the last crewmember leaves.

I have won something from a claw machine. This was during a period when I was still trying to impress my girlfriend (later fiancée, and later ex-fiancée) with how good I was at games in general. So, when we saw a claw machine at a restaurant, I had to try to win something. First try: I managed to grab TWO things and won them. There was a little stuffed animal with cherries on its chest and a rubber stretchy toy. Naturally, I gave them both to my girlfriend.
