That’s how I clean diggers? That’s why fitters put up with mini digger dozer blades, so you could lift it all off the ground and bungee cord the travel levers. Tesco lasagna was really good until that day. :o(
You may think videos of washing a tank are dull, but those of us with smaller toys to play with, find it riveting and entertaining to watch. More please.
Two things I'd say right off the bat: How tracks really work for things like tanks is really interesting, and honestly I've learnt a lot more just by watching you blokes try to wash the bastard things out than I would in any number of articles on the subject. So not fun for you lot but honestly find someone else willing to demonstrate this sort of thing. Second thing is I work in a tool and die shop that is necessarily full of very very smart people who are ran so ragged by the work they do they can barely articulate what the fuck they're doing most of the time. You only really get clarity from such people when they're about twenty pints in. So three cheers for "definitely probably".
Joe, I like how you can make gash look so professional. REME would have a fit but what you do here works. And no one died. Thank goodness you "don't know what you are doing"!!

Greetings from Australia. What you blokes need is a massive shed, concrete floor, over head crane, a dedicated wash area, lighting and a warm room to have a beer......
Clearly, videos of tanks being washed are interesting, else I'd not have watched it from start to finish. I mean, we've already watched paint dry in a previous vid.😁
Well, there are two ways to lift de tank. One is your way with all lot other machines and wood. Two with 4 hydraulic lifts. Glad you choose number one because is more fun to watch😎

It would be costly. But you could do something similar to what the US military does. Drive the tank into a giant water pit/bath, which can help soften up all the grass and dirt by soaking into everything, then drive out and give it a pressure washing.
We in the Belgian army used the firehose, yes the big ones, to clean our tanks. It toon like 2 hours to completely clean it, and yes they were really clean! Great video again mate, stay dry, lol.
@@olly_james28 👍 LoL 🤣. That was the idea. Or even three or four 1000Ltr plastic cubes, and a petrol water pump. 3 inch hose. Need the weight and push of the water. Volume over pressure. I used to have a farmer friend when I was a lad... This level of farmering brings back fond memories, although we never had a tank to play with... Probably for the best!
When the current projects are done... you should consider making a work ramp for the tanks. Something to climb the tank on, with hydraulic rams to lift it off and then remove the ramps so you have full access to. Would make all those ops where you have to (inevitably) remove water or engine packs from under the things much easier too.
I'd forgotten over the years just what an absolute beast the Foden was. Have vague memories of using tools/stands known as 'Elephant's Feet' being used for much the same purpose as your tree trunks during base overhaul of Chieftains at 23 Base Workshop in Wetter, (West) Germany.
Mud everywhere you need a road sweeper clean the mud up and they have a pressure washer . It’s amazing you and your team do a first class job better then it left the factory 😊
When I was repairing US Army Tracked Vehicles we had jack stands made to hold them. For the Abrams we used 3/8" plate cut into 4 pyramid shapes with a flat top. The base was 2 feet by 3 feet and the top was 1 foot by 2 feet. They were reinforces on the edges with 1 1/2 inch angle iron but to lighten them and make them forklift moveable we removed the center of the pyramid sides as well as the top, we took about a third of the metal out. Oh, yes the bottoms were solid plate.

Whilst it would never make 'favorite tank' status in my mind I do think that the Centurion is the best looking tank that the UK ever made. THE most exciting moment of my young life in a small market town was when a Cent rolled through the place on the back of an enormous Scammell transporter - it actually stopped at the zebra crossing I was walking across and it's driver seemed to yards above the ground,
The other thing I was going to say is that seeing the Cent up on blocks is a bit like seeing that dodgy ford escort up on bricks while some pikey steals the wheels !

Definitely Probably one of the best videos!! Somewhere on uT is a video showing three Tank Wash set ups. One had a rectangular concrete pond with sloping ends that the tank was driven through, second had the same sort of pond with a number of manned fire monitors around so the tank was fairly well wetted down all over, and the third was a building with a mass of pipework with more sprinkler heads than you'd shake a stick at which the tank was parked in for a while. Don’t think any one of them would have render the tank fit to go to the States though. About between the second and third wheel on the left hand side is a roundish hatch, I was thinking it might be for evicting spent shell casings but I think I saw something similar on the side of the turret, which would seem to be handier.
As a non military oldie (58yrs), I thought the running wheels on a tank were driven, now I see they just spin when in contact with the tracks. Tamiya was right after all! Would love to pop over and meet you guys, if that could be arranged?
You should try the rotating nozzle for the power wash, but not too close as it’ll strip the paint. 👍 I can’t believe they Colin Chapmaned the rib in the tracks ..
Nicely done chaps👍. I remember flying into Australia and watching the border force guys hunting for golfer travellers to check their golf shoes for grass/ debris. Better to declare and they’ll clean them for you. Must be a nightmare prepping for shipment. Great video, have a bonza weekend 👍

You often manage to think of a new way of doing tasks and give us a blast of incredible content, a swimming tank flat out in top gear, fantastic! It must have a special experience to be in that driver seat with the tracks spinning at that speed.
How to clean tank tracks: Lift the whole thing and spin the wheels at top speed. Brit ingenuity at its finest. Might sound dumb but it just works! Cutest doggo ever too. Great video lads.

Highlight of my day, being told how I'm doing it wrong and don't have a clue. Farming simulator seems to make everyone experts . It never irritates me at all... Much 😄 Oh, and Last time I fed a pony, it looked a lot happier than that, your obviously doing that wrong too 😇😏
There was a big badass trainee teacher from Yorkshire came to our school early sixties who did a poem about lorries for all of us to hear.. can't remember it all but it had lines of 'Foden with a load on, Scammel like a camel and a big fat ERF.' Loved it then and love it now. Spent the rest of my teens wishing upon a six speed crash box in the guise of an Atkinson which ran smooth as a top. Just wish could find that poet now.
Further to my earlier comment about dropping logs. I thought your film was excellent. The American vehicle did well despite not having the capacity of the Foden. What a lot of work it is to export a tank. You have a great team around you.
It’s amazing what I watch on TH-cam. Don’t ask me why. I grew up 2-5 years in Germany (army dad) and my earliest memories are of tanks- everywhere… and the noise they made on a tarmac road… very loud clanks and exhaust!!
On ted eating poo,, try getting him some ‘nutripaw pre and probiotic digestive treats’. My dog used to do it at every opportunity, but since he’s been on these I’ve only caught him once. Basically he’s not getting enough nutrients from his food so they eat poo as well to try and get more. So it will probably be his diet causing this.
Used to live in Derby before emigrating to Canada. Spent many a Saturday at Leavesleys crawling over old armour… got my D90 from there & it took 2 days to clean before we loaded it into the container. We soaked the floor with Jeys fluid & it still stunk like a BR toilet after 6 weeks at sea 😂 keep up the great content 👍
Hell of a job to get that clean enough to pass the clean test , good idea putting it up on big blocks . What happens if the tracks get dirty at the port ? What about a fire truck to use as a tank washer ? Think the army use super pressure washers
At around 3:30 when the foden is reversing around the building the rear axle hops about an inch sideways, don't know if that's normal or not if it is all good if not worth having a look at. I would expect tyre slip on the mud but not an axle shift. Big Bern. 👍
Just hope while you are away having, a well earned !, cup of tea. The the local "yobos" don't nick your wheels err tracks ........ Great vid. Ingenuity to the fore.
Thanks. Sadly I enjoyed watching this video inspite of the uncounted number of times I cleaned centurion and leopard tracks for general inspections, tank trains and general maintenance. Didn't have suspended tanks or power washers either. Brings back many a painful and exaserbarating memories. But hey been there and done that
Maybe an idea to put a lot of gravel on your terain to get rid of all the mud? Would make a big difference in how dirty all the machines get. (saves you a lot of time)
Just another day pushing things to the limit…
If the dog eats poo it means it has a calcium deficiency
past the point of no return?
And pulling things back from the limit too? Poor Lindy

Hell of a job to get that clean enough to pass the clean test , good idea putting it up on big blocks . What happens if the tracks get dirty at the port ? What about a fire truck to use as a tank washer ? Think the army use super pressure washers
that's how i clean my 1/16th tanks, with 4 old baby food pots under them 🙂and its a great demonstration of the track tension, not much sag at all!
At around 3:30 when the foden is reversing around the building the rear axle hops about an inch sideways, don't know if that's normal or not if it is all good if not worth having a look at. I would expect tyre slip on the mud but not an axle shift. Big Bern. 👍
It’s a Foden thing they all do it
Love your videos - a perfect blend of skill, and madness ;)
Just hope while you are away having, a well earned !, cup of tea. The the local "yobos" don't nick your wheels err tracks ........ Great vid. Ingenuity to the fore.
Probably one of the most informative videos probably
Congrats, that Centurion AVRI sounds really sweet.
I love all this stuff , blokes pratting about with big toys 👍
Good job, crew!
Brilliant your videos are fantastic the amount of knowledge you guys have is what these videos so interesting. Thanks for sharing.
No one who hasn’t had to clean a tank themselves can truly appreciate how hard it is to do.
Thanks. Sadly I enjoyed watching this video inspite of the uncounted number of times I cleaned centurion and leopard tracks for general inspections, tank trains and general maintenance. Didn't have suspended tanks or power washers either. Brings back many a painful and exaserbarating memories. But hey been there and done that
Not sketchy at all. As usual. 👍
Ted makes my day….what a delight….
Teds dietary choice is down to Ted, don't taste shame the poor lad! He's your boss you know.
But whose poo is it?
Jacks obviously, strikes me as the kind of man that would poo in a field@@ericmiddleton8367
@@ericmiddleton8367Now that's the real mystery here
@@ericmiddleton8367 Jack's?
@@RSW6666 - this is what I suspect.
Ted looking like a babushka...... 🤣🤣
Maybe an idea to put a lot of gravel on your terain to get rid of all the mud?
Would make a big difference in how dirty all the machines get. (saves you a lot of time)
I'm so envious of you guys.❤
