For the ppl lauding this product. Just over a year ago they were 2 quid, 400g in weight and a higher percentage of meat. Eff off Iceland and the rest of the supermarket chains.

I see some of the prices and wonder if they hike them up so they can create an offer as these are £4 for 2 online. The shrinkflation though, that is everywhere.

I used to buy the chicken jalfrezi from Iceland and thought it was a nice curry , however I was in Asda one day and thought I'd treat myself to one of their £4 Curry's , these are on another level. Meat content and quality is high and the sauce and ingredients are excellent , as close to a takeaway as I've ever tasted. They can sometimes be found on a 2 for £6 deal but in all honesty even at £4 , I think they are fantastic value for money , well worth a try if you enjoy a good curry !

I recently bought a beef lasagna from Iceland d in the Range for I believe £1.79. I would.d be enough for 2 with maybe chips. It was very tasty. I could really taste the Italian herbs. It has only two layers of pasta, but very enjoyable. Not sure if you’ve reviewed it. If not perhaps give it a try. Love your videos! The iceland takeaway curries are actually alright where supermarket curries are concerned i have a had a few in my time... they actually have a bit of heat as well unlike a lot of other supermarket ones... being of indian ethnicity myself i can tell you none of the supermarket curries come close to traditional food cooked by your mum :P (mine are ok but not as good as mums lol)... Actually the asda takeaway ones are half decent as well... ahh i got the end of the video where you say they arent the same anymore... i think you are probably right i havent had one in a long time and they defenitely carried more heat than most other supermarkets which is why i liked them

I sometimes buy the chicken and fried rice in the same tub. Have you ever noticed ready meal chicken from a lot of the big supermarkets is like Russian Roulette. Some ones have a firm almost chewy rubbery texture which I find really off-putting. In one ready meal it some bits might be ok other bits not. You don't know till you eat it. I googled and when chicken is like that it's probably been overcooked. But I think these manufacturers need to do better.

I have had most of there curries in the past and I find the best way to deal with them is let them thaw out that can be at room temperature or in the fridge which takes longer . Then when it's thawed out heat it on the hob over a low/medium heat doing them in the microwave often makes the chicken taste rubbery and we don't want that. In this day and age you can't afford to put an oven on for 50 minutes unless your have won the postcode lottery or your a wealthy you tube presenter. I think there good with a few chips or some of that Farmfoods vegetable rice.

Who doesn’t like the odd Ruby Murray and rice? Naan bread and some extras as well. You can’t really go wrong. My favourite at the moment is a nice Korma. It’s not that hot and spicy. I love the coconut taste. Lamb curries are really nice too. Hot curry? I think the hottest curry I’ve ever eaten was cooked up on Bisley Ranges in a tent we shared with a Gurkha shooting team. I swear it would have stripped paint off a car.
They used to have it for breakfast, dinner and tea. It would cook all day. It started off pretty mild in the morning😅. Got a bit hotter by lunch 🥵🥵. And killer by early evening 🤬🤬. The whole chickens were tossed into it, including giblets. By lunchtime all the meat had come off of the bone and was so tender. I don’t understand buying ready meal curries though. If, as a lot of people do, you have a slow cooker? Just add fresh ingredients and let it cook while your at work , or whatever. Come home to a nice tasty, tender meal.
Keep up the good work. I think you can guess that I love your channel 👍🏻👍🏻.

  • @tecnogof

I've noticed with a lot of these chicken curries and 'take away' dishes, the chicken hasn't been marinated. It's almost like they make a sauce, and shove a load of chicken chunk in, which has a short time to soak up the sauce during the final home cooking process. Break the chunks in half, the chickens are still white as the driven snow.
Incidentally, I have smaller versions of your plates that I've been using for years. Flat plates spill sauces and gravy, and break when dropped. I bought a 12 pack 9" Frisbee's off ebay and use them as plates, 😁don't laugh🤣 I just think outside the box! They're awesome, £12.99 for 12, you can't go wrong, really durable and perfect for sloppy dishes when repurposed and used as plates with a high rim. I have a few of those metal enameled camping plates for larger meals, they don't break either if you drop them. Lol! If it's ok, I'll drop a link for the ones I got in the replies.

Is it just me that when I see something you buy that's frozen and then see it's also not even in the frozen tub the first thing that springs to my mind is it's been frozen once in the factory where it was produced but then left to defrost somewhere and then re frozen when it's been put in the supermarket freezer? I know from my basic food hygiene that we shouldn't be trusting food that's treated like that.

I would like to say that Greggs Sausage-Rolls are the best tasting I have ever eaten, and they are also sold in Iceland supermarkets as frozen to be baked. The best way to bake them is to pre-heat your oven, run each and every Sausage-Roll under a stream of cold tap water for a second, shake off excess water before baking them on a tray covered in non-stick Aluminium foil for 12-15 minutes, once baked remove tray from oven and place the tray containing the Sausage-Rolls on the cooker with hobbs turned off, leave Sausage-Rolls to cool for at least 5 minutes before peeling them off the Aluminium foil on the tray. I then cut the edge of each Sausage-Roll along it's entire length, open the top pastry to reveal the strip of sausage meat, then smear a layer of Primula Jalapeño cheese onto the sausage meat, close the top pastry back before eating; sometimes instead of adding Primula Chilli Cheese, I add hot chilli sauce mixed with Mexican tomato salsa.

Always liked these ,when coming home from the pub (madras & vindaloo) ones.
But since the price hike, I've started to get the Heron ones, at £2.
Just woof them with fajita wraps, like you would nans or chapattis.

Those plastic food containers again? You could play an active part in protecting people from the diseases caused by ingesting microwaved plastics, that these food providers find easy to make their money from. Dare to be different my friend, don’t give an eff for the big stores force them to do things properly putting their customers health first. Are you up to that? Thanks for your vids Mark, I do enjoy them.

To be fair, from the ingredients 1/3rd of it is meat and the rest is traditionalish curry and a few thickeners - from that POV it's a pretty honest curry. If I make a curry for 4 then 1/3rd meat is a pretty good ratio....

Not a bad knock-off of an Afghan stew; their food isn't usually as spicy as the Bangladeshi version of Indian food we get over here, hence the mild flavour. The two chili rating seems odd, to me.

This is extreme false advertising this is not dopiaza , im Asian and i cook and have curry every single day, also the the base ingredient the main thing a curry is made out of is onions , u put a whole onion very thinly cut put it in a pot with oil and stir till all the onion over the heat until it's fully dissolved, or you can just blend the onion and oil in the pot till it looks like a soup , then add any spice and preferred meat , prawn fish chicken lamb beef pork anything u chose then cook till cooked add water if too dry and wala bobs ur uncle thats your curry , also add natural yoghurt to reduce the spices, btw a dopiaza curry technically has big chunks strips of green pepper and big pieces of onion which u can physically see with your eyes , so only way to fix it is either change the name of add the extra ingredients or reduce the price 😊😊
