Many thanks Thomas for the helpful demonstration of your Genos. It has so many nice sounds and amazing features. I hope to have one this year. Thanks again, Jerry.
Great demo of Genos. I too, really like the voices your chose, and you have a lot of finesse in your touch. Very enjoyable to listen to your professionalism.
This is just what I've been doing for hours and hours.. I love my Nord and Hammond, but the Genos keeps me exploring new things and it's very hard to stop 🙈😂
Would it be possible for you to put the names of the voices on the screen so that we can find them on our instruments? It would be very much appreciated. Thanks for the video.
I don't think anyone (live performer or band) would buy a keyboard like this Genos just for the sounds "ONLY" It's a wonderful arranger keyboard with Huge " styles " on board. This is why people buy this keyboard.
I would! I'm trying to save up for one in the hope of being able to buy one in the next 4 years! At least with a keyboard once you buy it all thouse sounds are yours but with VST instruments you don't really own them. I don't see why producers shouldn't use Genos as the quality of the sounds is so good. I may still choose a Tyros 5 if I can't afford a Genos or still want a Tyros 5. At the moment I have Halion but it pails even in comparison to Tyros 5 and I do not want to keep buying it every time I get a new computer.
Not more to say and hear.... It's a Genos mixed thru an Allen Heath QU 16, several channels with good monitors think krk, but took the DAW. Extremely sub noiseless! Sounds great!
The pianos, strings and electric guitars are stunning sounds on Genos but the pads are also nice. Pads are generally usable on pretty much any keyboard though.
wonderful demo. You are brilliant ! do you know the difference between tyros 5 and this genos ? I want to buy one of these but not sure which one... I have no experience with arranger systems right now..
Tyros 5 is the previous model. GENOS has a more powerful sound, because of the effects. The TYROS System is great, but - old. If you can afford, buy the GENOS, because it is the first model of a new generation. If you are brand new on arranger you will be happy with both, but after a while you will recognize, that the old model (TYROS) has not all the possibilities a that GENOS has
@Markus, if you are new to arranger keyboards, unless you are VERY clear on what you want/need out of one, I'd think very carefully before spending such a huge amount of money on the GENOS. The PSR-S775 is a roughly quarter of the price and the S975 is a third of the price (depending on where you shop obviously) and they too have hundreds of voices and styles and similar capabilities, as well as built-in speakers. If you get a PSR now and practice/play with that, by the time you realise its limitations the GENOS 2 will likely be out. Having said all of that, I'm in a similar position and I tend to over-buy what I need! lol
Is this better than software DAWs? If this is the case, I could save my eyes from the bad blue light of the screen. I spend literally 9 hours a day mixing. BTW, great performance :)
it sounds cool. really amazing. but it lacks something that special of analog synths... Sometimes is sounds toyish. Does it have capability to synthesize or does it use the wavetable and samples?
While Yamaha call it a Digital Workstation, it is still at heart an arranger keyboard. The lines between true synth/workstation are getting more blurry, but at the end of the day this was made for performers who want to sing/perform live and make it sound like they have a full band behind them without being tied to a computer or other external DAW. It has some knobs and sliders that can change the sounds, but it is not, and doesn't pretend to be an analogue synth. It is what it is, does what it does, and does it well.
Hi Rick, thank you for your feedback. You are right - for the next videos i have ordered a camera stick to fiölm from top, so you can see the display and the sound combinations. Thomas
@@ThomasMilonas Don't worry Thomas, not everyone likes the same things in live....Peter should move on !! I think you did a great job demonstrating some sounds.
I would not wait because in the last years Yamaha did only one really new: The GENOS - probably there will not be so much new technology in the next generations. The GENOS is the most advanced Arranger at the moment
These all sound nice, but the sounds aren't really the point on an arranger. Otherwise, you'd just buy a Montage for half the price of a Genos. You really need to demo the styles and arrangements and show how it plays as an ensemble.
You are right. But: The GENOS is both, a arranger AND a Workstation. There are really enough demos on TH-cam for Styles, but some people - like me - want the Genos for music production or band playing (live) with no styles. For this people i have made this video. I also made videos with styles. I understand your opinion and from your sight it is absolute correct. But there are much more sights. Another thing is, that the Genos is more user friendly than an Montage (for example the registration system with the big blue buttons). This is a big advantage for a live keyboarder Last but not least: You can use best of both worlds - and of course: a Genos never will sound like a Montage, Kronos oder Nord - it is a compromise (a very expensive, here i have the same opinion as you).
Are u saying that if I’m just interested in the sound quality I can buy something cheaper? I was going to buy a Tyros 5 only so I can use the quality sounds on fruity loops and Cubase.
Hi, if you want to produce music with the computer than you can buy a much more cheaper synthesizer (for example MOXF oder ROLAND Integra) - if you need styles for playing love or if you are a live keyboarder who loves easy handling than you can buy an arranger keyboard. For me there is one rule: If you dont know if the Genos is the right key for you - DONT BUY IT. You can save a lot of money when you buy a tyros or a psr-s model - or in case you dont need styles an synthesizer key.
@@jr-shotsadeogun7029 I have a Tyros 3 and most of the sounds on there are great. I use to have a PSR 8000 and as an arranger it was a great keyboard, for the sounds the Tyros 3 was a "HUGE" improvement. For very little money you can buy a Tyros 3 (don't go lower) or T4 or T5, if you use it just for the sounds, save yourself some money. Genos is a great Keyboard with huge style improvements. But then you use it as a keyboard with styles...
Love this demo!! Your hands are gold in playing this Genos!! Beautiful sounds...

Brilliant performance. I like the sounds of the Yamaha Genos..😃👍
Man man man bro i closed my eyes and listening to you playing those amazing touches

Hi, in future videos i will do that :-)
Did you know that the CVP-809 has almost all thsee sounds? It just has different pianos and more sounds. All of these voices are on there.

Lovely and soothing thank you
Can you please let me know the name of the second sound? 1:38
Thank you,
This is the Midnight DX
Thank you mate.
👍🏼
2:36 was simply epic 👌

Suoni magnifici e suonati bene.
Beautiful sounds, beautifully played. Could you tell us what they are so that us Genos users could duplicate them, please ?
nice performance and great sounds !!
waw comment je pourais le fair moi meme?
Very nice.. Can you post your favorite styles also? Thank you.
Very nice Thomas..you mind sharing the sound n settings @12:10 mark..?
Hi Peter,
at 12:10 the video is over? Which sound do you mean?
Thomas
great work
Doh - just saw the link to the reg - thanks!
Great sounds. Does your mixer affect the sound at all? Is this demo sound come only from the genos or is there other equipment having an effect?
steve222010
Hi. The Genos over the Mixer, no added effects
What keyboard stand is it? Did you build it yourself. Looks perfect and want it myself. Your music also inspire... Thanks!
Steven, this is just a white desk and the white glass on the top is from IKEA :-)
Thomas Milonas Great idea with the white glass shelf. My wife will love it. 👍
Excellent
Ótima escolha mas principalmente gostei da execução. Parabéns.

Which instrument have you programmed between 1:27 and 2:30 please
Thank you.
The DX Sweet with a little less chorus
Merci je vais essayer de trouver sur mon Genos. ;)
Hola saludos desde Ecuador 🇪🇨. Como puedo adquirir uno de los teclados. Genos. Me interesa.
:-)
Why the hardware mixer if there is a DAW for mixing?
Hi,
because the Qu16 is my soundcard and you can use it as a DAW Control (faders and buttons)
Is this better than software DAWs? If this is the case, I could save my eyes from the bad blue light of the screen. I spend literally 9 hours a day mixing.
BTW, great performance :)
Melo. No, i use it as a controller FOR SOFTWARE DAW, the faders, etc.
And thank you :-)
hmmmm ... I thought I found a way to stay away from the computer screen but looks like software DAWs are the future.
Keep up the awesome work !!
Melo
You can take a look to the AKAI MPCX, this is a stand alone sequencer
Good demo
Im getting one soon, whats the set up with your speakers and mixer? ie make and model numbers please
The speakers are KRK RoKit8 and the mixer is the Allen & Heath Qu-16C
It’s not the board....sir but the way you play makes the board sound good...
The keyboard sounds great, too. It's a combination of the two.
Awesome and amazing. So you can't download it from Dropbox
Custava nada botar alguns Dx do Mo DX Yamaha.
Super dank je
Excellent demo! I would love to know which Genos sounds are used - I am waiting for my Genos to arrive!
Muy buen piano
what speakers are being used
KRK RoKit 8
Супер!👍
Pieknie :-)
I want a key Genos
You have nice touch on those strings. Did you change the key sensitivity from normal or leave it alone?
It is the normal touch
great
Which Monitors are you using with Genos? :)
KRK RoKit 8 G3

Good
Nice demo, but why not show the sounds you are using during the demo.
You are right, for the future i will make it better
On Vol. 02 I did it better :-)
Zum einschlafen, kein Wunder will man Keyboard bzw. live Musik mehr hören.
Schade, dass es Dir nicht gefällt. Kannst Du näher erläutern, was ich zukünftig besser machen kann?

Waiting for Yamaha Thanos
I would not wait because in the last years Yamaha did only one really new: The GENOS - probably there will not be so much new technology in the next generations. The GENOS is the most advanced Arranger at the moment
did you use a sustained pedal for the piano sound?
Hi,
yes. I use the pedal very often
Thomas
on all of these electronic keyboards, using a good sustain pedal is essential to bringing out the full piano sound..
By the sound of many of the sounds they are just they old factory sounds reworked with a new pro DSP software added.
Yes and no. There are a lot of improved samples - but note: Good effects are very important for the whole sound

Korg pa4 x its the best
Stefanovics Angela - I had the Pa4x before, good keyboard. Everybody has different preferences - there is no „best“ Keyboard in the world
