amazing unit, i have installed the same 👍 Only downside: you cant really access the factory settings anyone still ordering: send them a picture you want as a start up screen! the seller on aliexpress told me that i should have told them when placing the order that id want a custom boot animation, and they would have set that up for me.. now that its already arrived, i could change the boot logo (first android) but not the animation (second android logo on start up) you can do so by going to car settings, choose the last option and enter code 8888, there you will find "boot logo" -> it will only find your custom logo, if you already have it on the drive, so copy the logo from google to Powerpoint, save as bitmap on the usb stick and copy it from there to the headunits drive. some options such as car info dont really work on my 2009 car, but it is how it is i guess For the wobblyness, you can put some layers of double sided tape, or some sheet metal to the left and right side of the unit, before sliding it in, 2mm each side should make a perfect fit. Two problems you will run into with BOSE, you lose the front to rear fade feature, to solve this you need to run an additional RCA to the amp and splice in. Secondly the output of the android unit is too low and you lose a lot of top end volume, again to help this add in a line driver to boost output to the amp. I've done a full write up on these issues if your interested.
I know the audio system that has Bose is outfitted with fiberoptic, but didn't know they had it setup even without Bose being installed. My 2010 Cayman S 2nd gen is equipped with Bose and my audio system is different from the one you removed; (gen1 vs gen 2). I didn't opt for the navigation system at the time, as I knew you had to buy cd's and knew they would be shortly outdated anyway. Looks like the upgrade worked out for you.
You have to turn the volumn of the stock head unit all the way up before you disconnect. Else the volume of navigation and audio will be wonky. IE music is loud then navigation is really low and you can't adjust it to a meaningful level. Ask me how I know.
+@HuyNguyen-ed6no maybe that’s why CarPlay reading my texts is really quiet? Haven’t tried to adjust it yet though. I don’t plan on using the built in navigation, but I think I remember trying it once and hearing normal sounding volumes every time I exceeded the speed limit 😂
I know nothing about these units, but I did see another video where the GPS unit and the other one (I forget) with the double sided tape just stick to the top of the unit itself. Not up to the dash or anywhere else. They stay with the unit. I suppose you could stick them anywhere however.
Thanks very much for yet another very helpful video. Much appreciated. Do you know whether the unit you received was the silver one or the grey? Thanks
Have teh same unit as you which i have just installed into my caymen. Only issue I have is that the unit will not turn on/off fully when your turn the ignition on/offoff, instead it stays permantl;y on so is draining the battery, did you have the same problem or connect a different wire? (i have a non Bose system)
Aaron, being a non-tech kind of guy, how in the heck do you choose from the 23 models offered on the Aliexpress website? I can't tell the difference between them. I can eliminate the Bose units, but that still leaves 19 or so to choose from. Help! - this is all Greek to me! -Tom

+@wayva6851 thanks for the great detailed extra info! 🍻
Very nicely done install. Looks great. It did not go unnoticed what game you were watching - I knew you were a closet Alabama fan at heart 😂. RTR!
+@SM-yf2ej never! 🐊 😝

+@Simonpocarroll it’s a piece of trash so that’s where I put it 😂

+@pjay3028 you’re welcome! Unfortunately I don’t know which they sent.
Did you attach the blue wire coming from your antenna wire to anything? It has a clear sheath around it.
+@prestoshredz nope

+@raycook6051 I did not have that problem. I showed everything I connected 🤷♂️
It's sloooow to start up but looks good.
+@YogisGarage it’s usually ready to play music by the time I get it started up and out of the garage.

+@aboyandhisdog haha I hear you! I was the same way. I tried to link the one I bought.
Nobody buys a Porsche to watch videos😂
+@niacal4nia probably not, but everyone likes options!
