Looking at this exact canopy range for a 2017 Hilux and have compared all the options round the place, the Ascent is one of the best looking ones and has a bit more space compared to FlexiPlas ones. Quote price I had from ARB in Regency Park, Adelaide was $4700 so cost wise it's on-par. Tiome will tell how durable the window actuators, hinges and importantly the windows (I see a lot of reports of "exploding" windows for no real reason), I hope that's not the case for this cost.
Most cars have auto locking on the doors, After 45 seconds or so the doors lock, to cancel you just need to open any main door on the car, The canopy doesn’t have sensors unless you somehow connect the canopy to the door sensors somehow
Is the 45sec thing a canopy thing or something your ranger has? I’m in the US, my ranger doesn’t have that so I am curious. Thanks for the great review
Hi Nick, I think it's with the ranger itself. Try opening the vehicle but don't open any doors as this cancels any action from the door locking mechanism. It may just be now that the canopy is fitted but I'm not sure(I will call ARB and see if they have more info). I keep a spare key for the canopy taped to the frame under the ranger and the spare key to the ranger hidden in the back(as I have done with all my past 4WD's and cars). When I go away with the mates and they get a beer, food or whatever out the back and not realize, they could lock the keys in the canopy by mistake. Out on the West Coast Dog Fence beach of South Australia it can be days before you see anyone and 50kms back to the highway to get help so it can save smashing a window to gain access. Cheers Jack

Hi mate I think the reason the canopy locks itself is because your car must be locked. I have got a ascent canopy on my MR Triton but couldn’t find out what are those black rubber thing on top of the canopy window inside?
Hi Ali If you don't open a door within 45 seconds of unlocking the ranger it will lock itself back up. I always try to open a front door to stop this problem for myself but I'm talking about mates that have drunk 30 cans and we are 200kms from civilization. Those black rubber things above the rear windows inside the canopy may be the hinges for the Windows you are talking about
