24HR AMSTERDAM FOOD TOUR | Trying Dutch Food for the First Time!

- We got the munchies (no not that kind) in Amsterdam! On our first full 24hrs exploring Amsterdam, we set out to eat as much Dutch food as we can from fries, and apple pies, to herring, and stroopwafel, and all the way to a traditional Dutch feast for dinner!
This beautiful city of canals and picturesque houses is gonna make for some absolutely stunning backdrops to even more beautiful food. This is our first time ever trying Dutch food so let's explore Amsterdam together!

I don’t know how young you two are, but you seem pretty young, and I have to say that you do a better job than 95% of the travel vloggers on TH-cam. My wife and I went to Munich a few times when we went around to various Christmas markets, so we know it pretty well. And we’ve been to some other places you’ve been to, and you do the things and eat the things that you’re supposed to. Many vloggers seem to just go to as many places as possible, yet don’t do anything. Keep up the good work from the US.

Patatje oorlog is fries with mayonnaise and peanut sauce.
Patat special is fries with mayonnaise, curry or ketchup and chopped onions.
And the stroopwafel without all the by-products, they are really touristy.
Herring is tastier without a pickle and with less or no onion.
A pan of mussels in the province of Zeeland
Vlaai in the province of Limburg, etc.
There are plenty of regional dishes in non-tourist areas.

I am officially from Canada, but I have lived in the Netherlands since I was 10. Yes, that stroopwafel is much tastier plain! But they do taste better when they are warm. If you buy them in the supermarket, you can also put them in the microwave.

Love these type of videos. Just hate how ridiculous the prices are. Kibbeling should be about 3 euros and double the portion. First tourists i've seen so far who like the haring lol

Except fir the shrimp salad, there is nothing Dutch at schnitzel and the other stuff. You should have tasten a stamppot or something like that.
The herring is not marinated but fermented.
Maggi is for soups
Haha we use Maggi/Knorr in the Philippines for everything 😅

Yup I think it's pickled in vinegar and spices 😊
It's just tourist food. I have never been able to buy these meals here and don't want to buy them, that's how the originality is lost. I mean the stroopwafel and the fries.

I am sorry for you but the haring is not marinated but pre digested.
In other words half way rotted🙁
€8,50 for a small portion of kibbeling is pretty expensive as are all the prices but hey it's the price for being in Amsterdam.
The canal tour,, including the drinks and all is verry reasonable on the other hand.

Quite fun but one huge mistake was made. You seem to frequent establishments that were made famous through Instagram. They are not all tourist traps yet many of them are and are mostly distinguishable because of the long lines! No Dutch person would stand in line like you did for "just" fries. You should have gone to the places Amsterdammers go to eat and drink.

The fries place is highly overrated, overpriced and not good. French fries are all over Amsterdam, like patat is literally a Dutch specialty. Don’t buy them for close to ten euros, it’s ridiculous.

@@locavore_eats the conservatorium brunch, Dignita Hoftuin, pompet, spirit (vegan food). These are all restaurants. For bars I’d suggest hidden in plain sight or cafe de klepel. Always super busy you need a reservation. Also try cafe de tuin if the weather is good, and sit outside! Great for people watching! For unique experiences try the pannekoeken house (there are only four tables there, so go early and book a table for later. They don’t pick up the phone). Go to brasserie nel to listen to some jazz.
