Thanks for the tutorial! We’ll probably shave ours since we have such hot summers. Have a good one!

They seem so much more comfortable now that they've been shaved!

Prosperous Hills Farm it is an interesting chore. I somehow always pick the hottest days and become a hot hairy mess!

What size blade do you use for market goats and how long before the show do you shave them? Do you not clip the neck or head? My daughter is doing a market goat for the first time this year. We have clipped lots of dairy goats, but never a market one, so it will be a new adventure! :D

I usually like to clip ours 2 weeks to 1 week before show so that if we left track marks on them that we couldn't even out for some reason then they have time to grow out a little and blend. This fella we sheared 5-6 weeks before as he was a FLUFFY dude! So we ended up clipping him a week before show time again. We clipped with a 2.4MM (T-84 Ultraedge for Andis clippers) We get them as close to the skin as we can down to the hocks and leave their face (From edge of back of the skull down to their jaw bone ) unclipped as they're judged on body and muscling from neck to rear hocks. Doesn't hurt to try to blend and soften around the head. I've clipped my dairy does with the same blade for show and it does well! Tell your daughter we said good luck!
