- My friends and I used to sue each other to get on court TV. The court shows pays whoever wins, so we'd always make sure the plaintiff won and then split the check. This was my first out of three court TV show appearances. I was a witness to my friend Shawn Boyd, who was suing our friend Phil Dent.

How is it that Ben Palmer is able to troll the same show? With (likely) the same casting agents (who'd probably recognize him after dealing with him in another capacity) on the same show?
My guess would be that the show people know, but it makes for good tv anyways.
Why would the agents care if it’s good TV? Their group was entertaining the first time so why not bring one of them back?

It's all about producing a good show, they get "cases" they think would be entertaining and gain viewership, I don't think they care if it's real or not.

There's no con lol. There's no real money at stake. The only thing would be if it were not a TV court. You can bring a fake case to a TV court because their goal is to make an entertaining show based on small claims.
If it were a non-TV court, that would be awful, because their sole interest is deliberating on a real, serious crime, determining who's guilty, and sentencing in a way that is both fair to the charged by not being excessively harsh for the crime committed, while also determining how high the punishment should be, based on the harm done to the victims, the accused's mindset (does he have remorse for what he's done? Would he do it again?), etc.

Cause it's mostly staged. The judge sees so many cases so he doesn't care and the producers saw it as easy money.
Yeah I think they realize he’s coming back, but they let it slide because the ratings are probably higher when the case is engineered by Ben Palmer and friends to be funny/compelling.

It’s not fake. These are legitimate judges handing out real judgements in civil cases. They are vetted and screened prior to being selected they have to fit a specific case with outlandish circumstances or claims. They did troll them how they got onto 2 different productions with a similar case is beyond me. Maybe two different TV casting agencies or just shear luck and culminating circumstances that worked for them

The promoter said it was supposed to be an even split 3 ways, $4k to each party, the performer said they were supposed to get 50% of sales. I don't think they said what the agreement in the contract was in the video, but there were 600 people at the show that didn't actually happen.

This is the main reason bands will settle up before the headliner goes on stage at every concert venue I ever worked.
A good percent of TV court cases look like friends trying to get on TV.
That's how they run these types of shows... like Dr Phil and those old Jerry Springer shows. I know someone who went on Sally Jesse and she was instructed on how to act and generally what to say.
These shows target an audience that doesn't care if what they see is real. Since that is true... why show them anything real? It's far easier and more exciting to just make it all up. Give the people what they want: a good story. Let them decide whether or not they are stupid enough to believe it. Don't tell them or they might get upset and stop watching.
That's just how TV makes money from lazy suckers who want entertainment fed to them as reality.
Additionally: if you like reality TV for the real situations and unscripted human interaction.... then you are a fool.

It's a television show. The television show pays. This isn't a real courtroom. Whatever "award" is given in judgement, the television show pays it. My ex husband lost his defense on a television court show and it cost him nothing.
