It has been 6 years since I first listened to this song original version by Lee SunHee in the movie, but I still fell in love with it everytime I hear different versions. This song is a legendary.
So true. The original song is beyond words to explain how good it is. Even just the music moves you so much. My best OST so far.I am a huge Lee JoonGi fan because of this song. I heard SoHyang's version of Fate in I am a Singer and the first 5 seconds into the song, I fell in love with it.Had to find the original singer and found the movie..rest is history.
Promise me that when this moment’s over and we meet again we can put everything in the past and stand by each other This is what we call fate, it’s something we can’t deny Will I ever experience another day as glorious as today? You’re a gift upon this exhausting path of life I’ll continuously wash and shine our love so it won’t rust away Our meeting was short like a drunken affair, but it was real Even though this cannot last, I won’t resent it because nothing is forever This is what we call fate, it’s something we can’t deny Will I ever experience another day as glorious as today? There’s so much i want to say, but you probably already know When we meet again some time in the future Please don’t let go again The love we couldn’t have in this life The fate we couldn’t live in this life When we meet again some time in the future Please don’t let go of me
Beautiful poem. Every word is a reflection of my soul mate and the time that we had with each other. But we are not together, even though we wanted to...but life has complicated things, sadly :(
Nice, but I believe that altough we can't change our fate we can change our destinies Xd but ty for ur comment it taught conscious alittle more of life..

My wife and I have been playing this song for our boys before bed for 3 years and this song will never get old. Thank you for the melody and my family and I feel the love from the speakers to our ears straight to our hearts.
Wow the very second into the song, the music starts. It gets you. I really love old Chinese instrumental music, makes me feel old but it’s just so peaceful
I sat still, humming As I gaze into the starry skies Thinking of you Waiting for you You, the love of my life In happiness And even in sadness Never did I once not think of you Curious of who you may be I wonder, do you think of me too? Music speaks louder than words sometimes. To anyone who is interested, the song is from a Korean movie called "The King and The Clown" or "King's Man". Original Korean song title is "Fate" by Lee Sun Hee.
I think many people are confusing purpose of this video. You guys can feel the difference of music style between original version and this video version. Original version is Korean traditional music style and this version is Chinese traditional music style. Purpose of this video is arranging other(on Chinese viewpoint) style song to ancient Chinese style, not misreporting "'Fate' is Chinese style.". And Koko Stillwell who commented to aniangwei. You're right. Mainly, China to Korea, Korea to Japan was a route that advanced civilisation flows. But we also influenced each other. Even Mongolian culture were influenced by Korea and Korean culture were influenced by Mongol. Just like European culture is similar with each other and there is also characteristic each other.
Lovely music! This is a beautiful rendering of the original Korean song. The Korean movie this OST belongs to is a MUST!! Great movie, superb performance!
This song, after all this year's, still amazing. And every single time I listened again, I cry. Is so emotional and beautiful. This is real music for me.
my gawd I've been looking for this song for awhile

Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you dont feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day. :)
WHOA!!!! >.< It's very nice. I am not really addicted to korean traditon and haven't heard of this song yet but when i first heard this song right now, i feel like i am in the era of ancient times. Wonderful! This music calms me. I was evens surprised that many ppls were saying this is korean. ^^ i just love it in instrumental
Yes, the Korean version is indeed heartfelt and the Chinese instrumental just takes it up a knot 🪢 that I shred tears. The melody that brings you happiness but also sadness at the same time as if you've entered in a dream. The mysterious mellows one's heart beat, shredded tears of flashed memories, and spread happiness within.
it is a korean song. although this version was a version rearranged with chinese traditional instruments, we cannot simply say it's ancient chinese style ,and putting it in this list is not suitable. luckily ,the uploader has clarified that the original song is from korean. so, just stop quarreling, let's enjoy the music ok?
Hehe~ xP I'm glad someone actually asked this question~!! This is the instrumental version of Dong Zhen's song, 世上豈有神仙哉·祭夙玉 (Literally 'How Can There Be Immortals in This World Alas·Mourning Suyu) I believe that this instrumental music was the original. People just started making up song lyrics for this instrumental x33 Such as Dong Zhen and many other great singers out there~!
It does my heart 💓 good to hear young people that you appreciate this type of music. For you guys to appreciate this is that you guys love the beauty and emotions that go in creating these lovely. I bet you are caring loving and giving of yourselves and see the beauty in most things. Doesn't matter where you are from, so I say this to you, may your heart's be pure and never waiver and may many blessings be upon you. Peace.

this version had stronger sorrowful feels to it than original ones 😢 all the tunes beautifully harmonic and melancholy. if this score being played on stage it will bring tears on all eyes 😭
Too bad I can't reply directly to that comment, but.. The movie was not Chinese before it got adapted into a Korean movie. The movie is based on a Korean theater play, and that play was based on some of the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty. It is mentioned there that the king's favorite clown was Gong-gil. Of course we do not know how Gong-gil was in reality. Some of the plot resembles Farewell My Concubine, that is true, but the movies are really different, barely comparable.
It has been 6 years since I first listened to this song original version by Lee SunHee in the movie, but I still fell in love with it everytime I hear different versions. This song is a legendary.

this girl's version this far is my favourite 😍
Always love the good old classic Chinese instrumentals.
The whole cast of the movie made this song come to life .......and I agree the original song is breathe taking.
Korean song
The bamboo flute, Chinese fiddle, guzheng makes a truly beautiful melody
But he said that he likes Chinese traditional instruments and didn't say how the song was.
Promise me that when this moment’s over and we meet again
we can put everything in the past and stand by each other
This is what we call fate, it’s something we can’t deny
Will I ever experience another day as glorious as today?
You’re a gift upon this exhausting path of life
I’ll continuously wash and shine our love so it won’t rust away
Our meeting was short like a drunken affair, but it was real
Even though this cannot last, I won’t resent it because nothing is forever
This is what we call fate, it’s something we can’t deny
Will I ever experience another day as glorious as today?
There’s so much i want to say, but you probably already know
When we meet again some time in the future
Please don’t let go again
The love we couldn’t have in this life
The fate we couldn’t live in this life
When we meet again some time in the future
Please don’t let go of me
Beautiful poem.
Bernadette Lilie ...There is so much pain
It is lyrics of the original song by South Korean legendary singer Lee Sun Hee
That's a beautiful words
Better it should be kept
Because it will only cause pain......
And better for both of them to never meet again it's only cause regret.....
so you shouldn't scratch the pain it will only going to lead to resentment.......
Good bye!!!!

While I listen to this music on Chinese instrument , korean lyrics run through my mind . Mind you, I am indian.
I sat still, humming
As I gaze into the starry skies
Thinking of you
Waiting for you
You, the love of my life
In happiness
And even in sadness
Never did I once not think of you
Curious of who you may be
I wonder, do you think of me too?
Love is such a mystery
I know not who you are
But I for sure know,
That I will love you for eternity
With a never waning heart
And a never ending love
I will wait for you
Until the end of time
That's how deep my love for you is
My dearest future wife.

A hint of sadness and tragedy. I liked original Korean version also!
FINALLY.....I FOUND YOU😭THIS SONG
This is the most beautiful song in the world ♥️♥️
Too bad I can't reply directly to that comment, but..
I agree, people have a misconception here that the original song and movie are chinese. They are korean.
I see...
Wonderfully soothing
