YOUTH AS AGENTS OF PEACE - EU Scholarship Programme Alumni at Delphi Economic Forum

Nicosia, Cyprus - April, 2024 - The Directorate General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM) of the European Commission extended a special invitation to alumni of the EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC (United World Colleges) to participate in a prestigious panel discussion at the Delphi Economic Forum that took place between 10 and 13 April 2024.
This panel discussion, under the thematic pillar of education, titled "Youth as Agents of Peace: Testimonies from the United World Colleges' Students," showcased the transformative power of education in fostering peace and understanding in diverse communities. The panel was chaired by Ioannis Hadjiyiannis, Head of Unit “Horizontal Policies” and Head of the Athens Office at DG REFORM, European Commission, Greece.
Panelists Deren Sanıvar and Liana Liu Ioannides, both alumni of the EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC, coming from different communities in Cyprus, brought their unique perspectives and experiences to the discussion. They were joined by Samra Hasic and Karlo Santic, current students of UWC Mostar, an international high school with the explicit aim to contribute to the reconstruction of a post-conflict society.
