    This idea is quite awesome for companies. You just give every employee one of these and they can take it home for working at home if they want and when they are at work they just slide it in one of the screens. Fantastic! This is a bettor solution then using laptops and give them external screens imo.

    Wow there's been a lot of hate in these workstation reviews. It's obvious the normal audience of this channel isn't the target consumer base for these products. In businesses, there are much more important considerations than the price/performance ratio. Anyway, I enjoy seeing some new content and I vote for more non-gaming focused reviews. Seems to be a good opportunity for NCIX anyway.

    I'm currently borrowing the Tiny and it actually isn't bad for gaming, It plays Goat Simulator, Team Fortress 2, Garrys mod and Half Life 2 series really well and I haven't found a game where it lags badly! Im very impressed. Though if you were planning on getting this it can't play newer games on the highest graphic options, just be aware of that.

    Bought for of these for work. asked Lenovo for attachable CD drives and Windows 8.1 pro. units arrived with laptop CD drives and no external mounting gear to actually use them and they all had Windows 8Core installed. Called Lenovo back and they wanted to charge an extra $150 to reinstall Windows 8.1 pro and took over two weeks to send us the external mounting gear.
    Dell from now on thank you.

  • @Jeffball610

    It's funny to me that PC companies are jumping on the bandwagon they chastise Apple for. They also condemn Apple for their prices, but these Lenovo units cost about the same as the Mac Mini. I do think that it's amazing that they considered to make these an AIO with these monitors and the inclusion of the port "relocation" is a great addition. I'm not a fan of Lenovo or their aesthetic, but I'm sure PC users who don't want a Mac Mini will be happy with these tiny PCs.

    • @Jeffball610
      @Jeffball610 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      What ports are not available? What more do you need in a unit like this? You have all of the ports the Lenovo has except for their proprietary port. Sadly, the newest Mac Mini doesn't have replaceable parts inside like RAM or a hard drive. I think Lenovo is on the right track with this product, but everyone just seems to be following the lead of the company they all say they hate.

    • @Jeffball610
      @Jeffball610 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** You're proving my point. And why do you need more ports on a laptop at the range the Macbook is covering? How many things do you plug into your computer at a time anyway? Apple is doing well for itself, and other companies are following them because they want the sales even though they are "making fun of" Apple. Just wait. There will be laptops with one or no ports in the near future from other manufacturers as well.

    • @Jeffball610
      @Jeffball610 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Are we talking about the Macbook or the Mini? Why would you plug the Macbook into a separate monitor? I'm sure you could find a way to share your screen wirelessly with another computer if you really needed to, but it's not that kind of computer. It's got its own keyboard and trackpad, so no need there. The charge port is the only thing you need now and that's covered. Flash devices are going by the waist side with cloud storage, so no need to plug that in.
      And now to discuss the attack on my "excuses" for Apple. I'm not making excuses, I'm simply trying to have a discussion about hardware and how manufacturers seem to be doing what Apple has been doing for years while everyone is hating on them. Everyone will hate on the Apple Watch too, but it just sold 2.4 million units showing that smart watches are a viable device, so others will follow suit. They certainly aren't the first to do this, but it's showing progress. Apple was one of the first PC makers to remove the floppy drive on the first iMac. They were one of the first to remove the optical drive. The created a better data and charging port with the Lightning port. They are innovating and others are catching up. They don't do everything right, but it seems others are happy to follow them and make their own version of these products while hating on the brand. Now enter the Lenovo M series and micro PCs like the Brix after everyone thought the Mac Mini was stupid. It works for Apple, so why not make their own?

    • @Jeffball610
      @Jeffball610 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ibraheem Productions I consider that a bonus. Who seriously still uses VGA? The Mac OS doesn't even support that anymore without an adaptor.

    • @Jeffball610
      @Jeffball610 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should seriously consider making ISOs on USB drives. Optical drives are basically dead. Even gaming consoles have more downloaded games than disks. And I'm hoping you're kidding about some of this. 45 euro (around $100) is cheap for a monitor. Also, my car stereo doesn't even have a disk drive. It's all about bluetooth syncing now.

  • @UltimateCARNUT
    @UltimateCARNUT 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    We buy the Tiny PC's at the company I work for. The monitor/dock is kind of a deal breaker as we need all the USB ports in back and at least 6 of them.

    Dell already sells Optiplex Micro PC's. Sadly they still only do 23" All In One PC's. Hope they fixed the overheating issues, had to take off the plastic back on our Dell All In One Inspiron 2305 to stop it from overheating. Not enough heat slots on the plastic and the fan inside is whimpy as hell.

    1080p for workstation ?!!? the hell!
    ---
    let me elaborate since a lot of people got confused ...
    16:9 is absolutely not an ideal aspect ratio for a work environment, and coming from Lenovo from all people, this should be known; 5:4 monitors are more suited for workstations and to an extent, 16:10

    • @jonoc5
      @jonoc5 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      zMe ul ...yeah?

    • @jonoc5
      @jonoc5 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** What are you on about? this PC has the minimum hardware for an office environment. Why would anyone need 1440p or 4k for excel or word?

    • @EqualsDeath
      @EqualsDeath 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      jonoc5 depends in what kind of work you do. i have multiple docs documents, a couple of browser windows and dictionaries open when i translate something and having to minimize / move windows slows the productivity.

    • @jonoc5
      @jonoc5 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Not for businesses. If i'm buying 2,000 computers for a very specific purpose, i'm going to buy the ones that do the job and nothing more. NOBODY needs 1440p for spreadsheets and even an extra $50 equates to an extra $100,000.

    • @zMeul
      @zMeul 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** if you'd worked on such a monitor, as a workstation you would understand why; more suited for this type of environment are 5:4 monitors or to an extent, 16:10but not 16:9

    Ok, so its got laptop sized DIMMs, and 3.5" HDD... weird. Why not a 2.5" HDD? All in all not even a decent first look if you don't spit out the relevant specs. If I have to go to other sites to get the specs, well, you kinda didn't do a very good job.

    • @JasonHoogerhyde
      @JasonHoogerhyde 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nikki DeRaad Price is a huge factor, and most users don't need laptops. Nor do we, at least at my company, want users to have laptops that don't need them. Personally I would love to use these over our desktop models we currently use.

    • @Joseph1NJ
      @Joseph1NJ 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jason Hoogerhyde Advantages over a real desktop: Its small... and well, that's it. In businesses, schools, etc., servicing these things would be a pain - aside from the SODIMM & HDD, everything else is proprietary, therefore most likely more expensive, & harder to find.

    • @jonoc5
      @jonoc5 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** The obvious benefit is that when a hardware issue occurs, IT can just send down another PC insert and have the user up and running within minutes. I'd be highly surprised if a company using them didn't lock the computer compartment anyway.
      These are for businesses where users have simple needs, obviously no tech would ever use one.

      vlad dragos for around $1200 you can build a pc with amd 8350 and gtx gtx 970 in sli. Save the money from not going with intel and slap on an all in one liquid cooler. Other parts are up to you. Yes Nvidia has better technologies, but if all you want to do is record. Then get two 290x's in crossfire. Saves money but you will need like a 1000w Power supply. Any questions let me know.

  • @sauron1427
    @sauron1427 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I still fail to see the appeal of AIOs. There are basically no situations where that form factor is useful. At work? You have a desk, plenty of space for a mini itx system to be out of your way (if you don't, what kind of work are you doing that requires a pc but doesn't provide you a desk of some sort?). At home? You have ALL the space you want. So why pay more for something like this?

    • @JammyRogers
      @JammyRogers 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sauron It makes more sense if you look at it from the IT techs view on its users. For example, if the user trys to move the computer there is less cables which may not be plugged in or plugged in correctly. This reduces the calls which waste the IT techs time.

    • @sauron1427
      @sauron1427 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      jammy rogers yeah, makes sense I suppose. Not so much an advantage for the user but for the guy who needs to solve the user's problems... At least this one is modular.

    • @username65585
      @username65585 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sauron AIOs are easier to deploy.

    • @MrDrunkenMoose
      @MrDrunkenMoose 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sauron It also makes sense when you work at a company which fully adapted the system. If you have to change places often, do presentations and stuff or have different offices. Of course every place has to have these special monitors, but then you can just carry the little thing aroung with you and dock it in at various places. Even if you have the same thing at home for example.

    • @sauron1427

      MrDrunkenMoose a AIO is not exactly portable... you still need an extermal psu in a lot of cases and in the others you'll need at least a power chord and your peripherals. They are also much heavier than a laptop if less than a regular desktop. If you need to move your pc around for presentations and such you should really be using a laptop, not an AIO. These things have mobile parts anyway.

    I dont get these "Desktops". If i want a desktop i have room for atleast a mini ITX build and if I want it tiny and portable i use a Laptop, with maybe an extra monitor. But these things are crap. And a 1080p 23" monitor for over 300 dollar? And dont tell me how good they might be, if you have a pc, which only handles spreadsheet i dont need the best monitor out there.

    lol such a high failure rate of these things. We have at least 50~100 of them fail when we build about 600 of them.

      Ven Kitsune well it is pricey. IMO for spreadsheets/work there is many cheap laptops/netbooks which would be better option anyway (since you can actually use them when you take them somewhere else), so yeah this is a ripoff when you can build REAL PC for less (or buy laptop!).

    • @xxlaevexx

      Ted Bundy a laptop with a similarly good processor would be a few hundred more, and any pc you build will be 10 times bigger.

    Horribly overpriced. While most businesses will not be gaming, they also do not upgrade very often and thus there is a focus on getting the best performance for the money, especially if they will be keeping the same systems for the next 5-7 years. For the price, you can build a better spec mini ITX system, or build a pretty decent lower mid range gaming PC (that will handle all of your office needs)

    • @FishFind3000
      @FishFind3000 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clearly you don't know anything about businesses then. They replace them as soon as possible they get tax wright offs and other things.

    • @Razor2048
      @Razor2048 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are hardly any tax benefits that will even come close to justifying a new computer purchase for all workers.
      Unless you are in some insanely rick company where the work is largely focused of graphic design work or other work where you can never have too much CPU horsepower, you will see replacement cycles of 5-7 years (maybe even more, especially for lower level work such as working with documents, and call center type stuff)
      Most management is reluctant to upgrade when the old equipment still works, and allows workers to do their job.
      Unless something changes in the industry, they expect the computers to allow the workers to be fully productive (e.g., moving from a core i3, to a core i7 based system will likely not do much for the user using MS word, or running IE in order to interact with a horrible designed web based interface for a call center.
      What many managers are interested in is the return on investment of the product, and the long term use. (I have worked with companies where if the upper management had it their way, everyone would still be on PDP8's )
      Moving to new hardware is pretty much always a fight. (it doesn't matter if it becomes increasingly more stressful for the IT staff to manage outdated systems, IT gets paid to make sure that the stress never makes it to the higher ups).

    • @FishFind3000
      @FishFind3000 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      those tax wright offs are in deducting the cost of the equipment. its for the company. thus they can wright it off and have a lower tax bracket.
