- Why do we have to go to Abu Dhabi? The "Grand Finale" of the F1 season rarely throws up a good race and this year was no different... Regardless I;ve reviewed every other F1 race in 2023 so here we go for one last time...

I don't understand how anyone ever thought the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was going to get cancelled over the Israel-Gaza conflict. It's like cancelling the English Premier League over the war in Ukraine.
i mean.. last year they didn't cancel even when stuff was getting bombed like 5 miles down the road from the racetrack...

There were rising tensions amongst the UAE's muslim population because the government had recently been on a trend of, uhh... "being increasingly friendly" with Israel.
There was a chance that if they kept rising there could be some kind of rioting or civil unrest (a bit like how the Bahrain GP got cancelled a while back), but it never really developed.
Your analogy would only really work if England had a majority Ukrainian populace and the British government was very friendly with Russia.

Also Verstappen is the only driver to finish 100% of the racing laps, that's a great accomplishment from team and driver...💯
He isn’t the only driver to do that, Michael Schumacher did in 2002 and Lewis Hamilton in 2019. I think you got confused w max leading 1000 laps in f1

We will never get rid of Abu Dhabi as finale because of money and because they have a sporting reason to keep it now (2021)
They are going to move it to Vegas based off the media statements like "how cool would it be win a WDC in Vegas"

@@erickrasniewski567Meh? Vegas was the best race all year. One of the best races in the last 15 years ! I literally stopped watching F1 because it became incredibly boring. F1 is the only form of motorsports when you can predict the outcome of every race with a 99% accuracy, and be correct every time. There is no racing that happens... except it did, at Vegas!
Doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be a finale.
Honestly, besides Yuki being in the lead for a hot minute, the only fascinsting part about this race was watching my cat trying to “catch” the race cars in the first lap. I tried telling her she couldn’t catch the cars on the tv, but that didn’t really deter her.

The comedy review has been the only thing making most of the season bearable, along with making the IndyCar season even more amusing.
The practices and quali is great. Will is great. And then there’s that boring part in between.

The NASCAR Truck Series had a finale late at night, with the championship contenders accidentally wrecking each other, then purposefully wrecking each other, and several cautious extended the end of the race so that the majority of watchers were up at 1 AM.

With verstappen and how big is gap could be to 2nd.
But in all honesty, most of the races were boring. I now understand why people hate verstappen! Besides the main reason, he makes races, boring. And the only exemptions could be singapore, las vegas and australia. There is nothing wrong with a dominant season, but this is too much. 19 wins out of 23 seems unfair. Plus, Most of those 19 races that verstappen wins is like monaco. Won from the first corner. And I agree, thank god its over. Now we need to go through that again in 2024. Plus, maybe they should try to play fair and not be one of the deadly sins, and be blinded by greed.

Thanks for an amazing year of comedy reviews. Props to RB, they had an unbelieveable season, but honestly, this season was more on the boring side. The midfielders were more exciting to watch than the frontrunners. I still hold that Singapore was the best race of the season. Here's to 2024 and hoping we get some actual nail-biting races for the top spot.

Mint start rest not too bad either. If you are bored over winter take a look at some drivers from back in the days.. If you you don´t mind editing do a deep dive on De Cesaris if you prefer shorter formats then try the japanese bloke that ran into the medical car on foot or Micheal Andetti´s long hard journey to the top of F1 which was p3 for him on the one circuit Minardi can win races (and yes that pun can be used for free).

2023 was the year that I finally gave up watching races live.
Lewis Hamilton actually had talks to join RB back in 2012-13 though but Dietrich Mateschitz let Mark Webber stay for more one year in 2013.

the funny and sad thing is, compared to other new races we've got in recent years, the Abu Dhabi GP seems not even as bad anymore...
The 2023 F1 season is notable if only for one reason: it's when I found your channel. I love your wit and dry humor.
This may sound weird but... I don't think this season was that bad. While Max running away from everyone made it less interesting, the rest of the field felt remarkably close and watching all of that play out went a long way to make up for the total lack of competition in the driver's championship. Then again, I root for Haas so I have a screw loose.
Big props to Sergio Perez for risking his job to add a whole extra level of intrigue as well. I don't want to sound mean-spirited, nor do I dislike Perez in any way, but I must admit I kind of enjoyed watching him torpedo his season, and I am very much on the fence about whether he deserves a seat in that car next year. I wish him all the best but I don't think he's the perfect fit (as Max's #2 driver) that many people thought he was after last year. I'm not sure how much longer he has left in F1, to be honest. He was just far too sloppy this season given how good the car was.
I'm not expecting much to change until 2026. Red Bull had a head start and they still have Adrian Newey, so they have a clear advantage. McLaren did the absolute impossible this year, so hopefully they're competitive throughout next year. That could make things interesting. I think Mercedes have no idea what to do, which is why they basically just brought back the W13 even after Louis constantly bitched about it. I feel like the W14 created more new questions than it answered. Aston Martin have shown that they can create a banger of a car, but they utterly failed to iterate on it and keep it near the top.
2026 will be interesting because Red Bull will finally be using their own engine design. I think they might struggle. But until then, the smaller battles will be the ones worth watching.
