I could've gone even more difficult then what is on this list. But those games weren't released on the NES in North America. So I left it at that. Maybe I need to do that list as well. Thanks for watching!
That's the first time I've ever heard Adventure Island called harder than Battletoads. Yeah, Adventure Island is no cakewalk, but harder than Battletoads? Who claims that?

As somebody who has beat Battletoads many times, I think Adventure Island is harder. It’s brutal.
You forgot Karate Kid, Simon Quest, RAMBO, Party Monster, Beetlejuice, Goonies II, Godzilla Monster of Monsters, Nightmare on Elm St., Sinistar, & TETRIS just to name a Few... Does Imports count? #EnglishPatch cause there's Holy Diver, Labyrinth, King Kong 2, Sweet Home, Takeshi No Sengoku Fuunji, Devil World...... All in All you made a Fine list Ghost and Ghouls should be Number 1. Please take this as all my Opinion. I perfer Retro Gaming anyday👊

Soooo, just a random list of games? Most of these weren't hard
Keep in mind that not everyone is Captain N The Game Master. And yes, there are those who can wiz through games, speed-run, etc. But the average gamer cannot. Especially at the time of initial release back then. Thank you for watching the video either way. I do appreciate it. Take care.
I can think of a few that aren't on this list that are pretty hard. Destination Earthstar comes to mind. It's good when you "get it", but not many people stick around long enough for that.
Difficulty in games comes in different forms. Sometimes it's actually difficult. Other times it's a gameplay mechanics issues. And of course everyone is different. Some can beat any game placed in front of them. Others struggle with the easiest games. Thanks for watching!
@@metae.4256 I can think of two right off the bat that could easily be near or at the top of this list. But, they weren't released on the NES. They're Famicom (Japan) games. I focused on NES games in this video. Now if and when I do the same list for the Famicom, it will look different. Maybe only a few games would make it from this list.

Ikari Warriors is harder than all other 24 combined. Most of them are just average difficulty. Battletoads and Ghost and Goblins are most likely worth the mentions. Silver surfer might end up in top 25.
But yea this list is not very accurate and is only an opinion of one person who obviously didnt play much NES games.
Also hardest shmup on NES is Star Force , to the earth is worth mentioning.
This list is based on research. It's not my personal list. And it's also based on difficulty to the average person. And difficulty wasn't just about how hard the game actually was. Gameplay mechanics and bad designs were a factor too. Contra for example, can easily be beaten with the Komami code. But it's significantly more difficult without it. This list isn't for the "The Wizards" of gaming. And those who can beat any game easily. And of course no list will satisfy 100% of the viewers. That's impossible to do! But yes, these games deserve to be here, as do others. Everyone is welcome to their own opinions. I believe this video wasn't for you. Thank you for giving it a chance though. Take care.
