If you happen like gelato, try Mary's Milk Bar in the Grassmarket...straight across from the bottom of Granny's Green Steps. Fresh daily with an ever-changing choice of some of the most surprising - but delicious - combinations imaginable. And when in the Meadows, try Victor Hugo on the south side for lunch. It has a red front, so is easy to see. Once over on that side, walk the neighbourhood...stroll the streets of Marchmont and the Grange over to Morningside and Bruntsfield, the latter being at the far end of the Meadows. There are some fine shops and eats to be had there and you are still just a short walk from the Old Town.
