Great video! I have a mount for my dremel so my approach was slightly different, but uses your ideas. Worked great to add serrations to my Swiss Army knife. Serrations are valuable for cutting plastics and rope. Thank you!
I have a way to share too. I do my own DIY serrations by trying to cut or pry against other metal objects. Sure, some call them chips if they want to be a jerk about it. But I like to think of them as helpful serrations.
I think the one in his pocket is a Benchmade. If you just like the style? It looks like a 3.5”-4” Tanto style anodized or (otherwise coated) blade. Benchmade has a HUGE selection of them but there are many companies that offer that style blade. I’m not even certain it is, but the look struck me as Benchmade off the cuff. They make quite a few longer, coated, thinner height blades like that. It’s a pricey company too, but you get what you pay for. It’s worth taking a look. 👍
I saw the little alert thing so I was like “oh yea, humm, what did I say again? And I upvoted myself by accident 😂. Sometimes I wonder if people really do that on purpose? (I guess it makes sense) to agree with yourself?) no? Anyway, I thought it was funny)
Really liked what you did there! That little knife turned out so good, for a second I thought you pulled another knife to demonstrate the serrations you were going for :D Also, the finished product looks like nasty little angry shark, love it!
This is a great video in every way man, nice job. The cutting wheel marking is genius. Pro tip from me, you can buy “tungsten carbide cutters” at Home Depot it Lowe’s for the dremel that are like a mini end mill. Works great for carving hardened steel or whatever else.
That is a great idea actually! I have a few (of course I have no idea where now….🤦🏻♂️) “somewhere” in the shop that eats tools! Meh, iiiii can always use another really lol. Totally worth it. Thanks for putting that out there man 👍
Great idea. I've got a couple of Benchmade Impels (7/8" auto) I got when they first came out. They're fairly useless except for a conversation piece, so I may try this on the one I made a set of scales for out of some curly maple laminate I had. The other one is a prototype, so I'll probably leave that one alone. 😂
This is great work. Beautiful job man. I’m a pretty experienced metalworker myself and I’m doing this exact same thing. (Almost) I’m OCD about having a serrated section on my EDC. That said, they no longer offer them on the Zero Tolerance 0350. 🤦🏻♂️ (I know) I know and it gets worse its $200 now. WITHOUT them. I’ve hunted everywhere and 😂 it’s messed up seriously they just no longer exist. Not even on EBay they’re just gone! BUT I need the serrations and (cool idea with the Kershaw!) but I’m not carrying two knives either SO. Wish me luck man. You made it look easy but (like I said I have experience) you’ve done this a few times lol. I know I’m in for it. Anyway thanks 🙏 for the pointers man I’ll likely make that little Kershaw to practice and throw it in my toolbox so… neat. Yea Anyway, like I said beautiful work and thank you much. 👍
My recommendation is that you practice on a cheap knife first! Get some $10-15 knives from Amazon that are a similar blade shape to practice on. That way you get a feel for the right spacing. Etc
@@GunsandGuitars Thanks actually that is a great idea. Funny enough I found the little Kershaw on sale on Amazon so… but it’s not the blade shape! Lol buuut I’ll do more than one. (Actually) you cut it…🤔 maybe if (I don’t) it’ll be closer. (For where I want them anyway). OR actually, I can just line it up, scribe it off and cut it to that.🤷🏻♂️ (The Kershaw might be too small to do that with, I don’t know yet.) If it is I’ll find something close (actually, a Kershaw “Blur” would do the trick) except that’s $80 🤦🏻♂️ 😂 (meh, ill figure it out). I had to know it wouldn’t be easy right? Lol. Really I’ll probably just pick up a $20 (whatever) with some meat on it and cut. In the end it’ll be more reasonable I think. Especially because I want 2-3 tries like you were saying, yea. (It’s worth it) unless I like REALLY nail it on 2. (And I’m not thinking that on my second try I’m gonna be like “Eureka! Now hand me something expensive” lol. Even being skilled, I want it as perfect as I can get it, I’ll probably carry it a decade every day. So. (Right?) Anyway, yea man thank you. I’ll let you know how it works out too. I’m still waiting for the first one though lol. ( Allll in goood time…). 😊
Not related to this video at all, but do you have a link for the tung oil you use on guitars? I want to make sure im getting the right one for a good price lol
Hey Dan I've got a challenge for you , but it's going to take a long time so you'll have to do lots of series. I challenge you to make a flint lock gun by hand . I reckon you'll do ok . What do you reckon subscribers can he do it on a budget? And Dan you can come up with the budget. Kentucky longrifle with a patchbox. Good luck mate ,I really hope you take this challenge . Best of luck mate
@@tomherr5684 Tom I would love to , but I'm moving on Saturday , it's taken me 8 months to pack everything into boxes 📦 6 of them months was packing my work shop up 28 year's of crap but I can't seem to toss it out, yeah I've got big problems , and I still gotta buy a nother home lol away if you build it I'll watch it mate . Good luck 👍
@@deanmacka4975 Hey good luck with the move man! It’s hard to pack up any workshop. Especially if you’ve been there 28 years!!! Honestly I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy that’s terrible. (I know) I just had to myself after about the same. (22 years) but still. I think it’s worse than leaving anything else honestly, it’s a really personal space. All your stuff is kinda just “where it belongs”… along with youself!!! While you’re in it. (Really, ya know?) I felt like I could get around mine blindfolded. I mean (I wouldn’t wanna “use” any tools that way…lol) 🤕 but yea. That’s hard. I remember the last thing I grabbed was a “soda” holder I built for above my bench and a 4”x4” cut off the fender of my first car. It was mine for 22 but my Grandfathers before me for 50, so I spent a lot of time there. 35 years or so. So I cried. I mean he died so, Yea. Anyway I’m sorry, I know it sucks. Hey if I do build the gun I’ll fire off a salute 🫡 in the video to beloved build shops everywhere! Lol “We Shall Never Forget”!!! Lol 😂. I’m building a new one not far from there. Hopefully your journey sees you to a nice new spot too. Good luck to you too mate, Cheers.
Awesome stuff man really helpful! Got any affiliate links I'm about to buy all the things you have in the description but I wouldn't of bought them without your recommendation so I want you to get a kick back. Lemme know🙏
No new upload??? Not really interested in any of these videos... you should really split these up and upload more for each... your guitar videos could actually get monetized cuz you're not advertising guns.. and you could have communities that actually care about every video uploaded..
This is the EXACT "how to" video I was looking for, and production quality is top notch.
same!

Perfect! I always want a serrated part of my knife.
Great video, lots of information and easy to follow. Thank you.
I have the exact model Black & Decker Rotary Tool. Bought years ago from Wal Mart. I'm glad Dremel bits & accessories work with it.
Turned out pretty sick
Awesome! That completely transforms that knife.

That is freaking awesome! Love the Plus scale mod too!
You have earned yourself a new subscriber.
Awesome work, the temperature info is extremely important
Dude! What knife was he pulling out of his pocket? I like that.
yeah what knife?

Definitely cool!
Hey Dan, awesome video dude!
Whoa brother this is awesome, just subscribed to your channel- God bless
Thanks for the sub!
Super helpful
Very nice. I wouldn't be surprised to see that added to Kershaw's lineup soon.
Funny that this came true! Lol 😂 I just saw it like 2 weeks ago. (Not sure it’s Kershaw….) still tho. Someone liked the plan for production! lol
That's sweet thank you !
Looking forward to seeing you build a bass guitar with serrated fret boards =D
Nice.thanks
What a great idea to use a "cheaper" knife instead of one of your nice ones. You never fail to disappoint with your content Dan!
when comes the new iem video out??
What grit sandpaper do you use for serration sharpening
Could you make a prs kit video
Do you have custom scales on your utilitac?
How many knives did you go though before mastering this technique?
Don't tell me you guys have never thought, "If my girlfriend is kidnapped, how am I gonna cut the ropes to set her free with a straight edge?"
Very nice mod. 😃

How to wreck a cheap/expensive knife!
Got that tool at Walmart.
What's the point ?
Indeed it is... a gay ass steak knife.
i'm sorry, I read the title as "how to ruin your favorite pocket knife"
I personally prefer straight edge blades for everything that I do, if I need to saw through something, ill use a different tool
