The first season was incredible. Brian Fuller is a teleplay genius. If they were only smart enough to keep him, the show could've finished being amazing. They did Orlando Jones dirty, too.
I heard someone mention American Gods as being worth watching recently. Found it was originally a STARZ series. Had a subscription for STARZ and we t to find the series. I guess it doesn't exist on STARZ any longer? Then went to Amazon and found i could purchase series for around 10 bucks. Purchased series and binge watched season 1. When season one was complete I wasn't given the option of watching season 2 or 3??? I was jumped to another series....Good Omens??? I went back into Amazon where I originally purchased and found Season 2 and 3 tabs and tried to watch. Only to find they are currently unavailable for me??? WTF is this??? Tried other avenues to watch but to no avail. All venues say it is unavailable even to buy or purchase??? Pretty strange I must admit. Found this thread on you tube and just thought I'd throw out my experience as of today. Any insight from people out there would be appreciated 👍👍👍😀😀😀❤️❤️❤️
Orlando jones freaked out because he didn’t read that Anansi wasn’t in that part of the story and assumed that they didn’t re hire him because of racism lol and flipped out they later said they planned on taking him back later 😂 TLDR shot himself in the foot
Orlando Jones as Mr Nancy /Anansi and Gilian Anderson as first Media were bloody brilliant..........Gillian left with the first showrunners and Orlando was "let go" because the third and worst of the showrunners didn't like what Orlando as Mr Nancy was brilliantly "preaching"
I disagree. The only way this show could have worked long term is the outright removal of Niel Gaimen altogether as he's the common denominator in this equation. I would even go so far as to the vision that Fuller and Green produced in season one was an improvement over the source material.
aka showrunners wanted to ruin the source material and think they know better than the literal man who crafted the universe and lore. considering how successful sandman was, I definitely smell showrunners jealousy bullshit.
How many times can you say "show runner" in 8 minutes? Apparently 23. All I got from this is: There were 3 seasons. They kept changing show runners because of creative differences with Gaimin. Each show runner had a different view. It was very hard on the cast. 4 sentences....repeated over and over for 8 minutes.
I can't remember if I saw season 3 as it was heavily delayed but at least season 1 & 2 were fantastic, I didn't see any problems with it. Will def. be checking out season 3 now that I know it came out & I'd personally bet it maintains the quality.
The first season was AMAZING. Its one of the very few adaptions where I'd say the TV show was better than the books. They just had this amazing way of starting with what seemed like an awesome independent story and then having it tie in as part of the main story or as background or a contrast. I mean take the way that played off the difference between how the woman and Laura meet their fate in the heart weighing ceremony. Its brilliant and how you change a book for the better on the screen. Some of the casting choices were really inspired too and it hurt the show when they lost them. (Especially Anderson).
Purely Gaiman's fault. He needed to be reigned in. Season 1 was great. Season 2 saw Gaiman trying to turn the series into a modern day Kung Fu, with Shadow playing the part of Caine, walking the Earth and meeting different gods around every corner. Gaiman couldn't just stick to telling the story of the book, and wanted to tell every story that popped into his head. He needed to finish the book story first, then could have easily turned it into an episodic show for several seasons. Too much ego.
As much as Bryan Fuller brings to any show, he's kind of a liability at this point. He tends to exit shows early, and then the quality falls off sharply.
I strongly feel that (AMERICAN GODS) show, should get rebooted someday. I think despite some flaws, the show had in a few episodes, within two out of the three seasons, I thought it was very good, and I enjoyed watching the show.
Honestly.. basically each show runners arrogance cost the show. They all in having creative differences with the literal author of the novel feels like they are better capable of determining what the source material says. The reality is that sandman was successful because they had effectively allowed Neil to write the show. You don't get to work with the literal author if the show you're writing and argue about the characters in HIS universe.
it's a shame bro... the end brought no end/explanation to anything and at the end, literally nothing happened lol the war didn't happen, mr world didn't reveal he was loki, etc etc, literally nothing happened... frustrating series .-.
The other seasons were still pretty good. Gaiman was still basically in charge. But the budget was lower and half the cast left unfortunately. It's a shame they didn't finish it. The last episode was so close to the end of the book, they could have easily finished it with a two episode special or something like Sense8 did.
show runners INJECTED their agender in to the franchise a bit to heavly like I know Neil Gamaon is a fruit but man he dropped the ball on something amazing and now unless they make a MOVIE i wanna know what Tech boy is really
Season 2 and 3 was such a drag! Ugh 😑 season 3 was slightly better! I mean it had its good moments. Anything was better than that awful Season 2. Season 1 was so damn good when Bryan Fuller was on! What a shame he left! 😢 I don’t want a 4th season I want a movie or a mini series for the 4th season one! Have include 2-4 episodes to finish it up for good!
I CAN’T STAND CRISPIN GLOVER in this role. I have no idea why he was hired for this role! Anyone with a brain can see that Mr World had to be this “Tywin Lannister” type of a commanding presence! Not this weirdo!

@@Missjjade I did not hear that.

It was really over when they fired Orlando Jones!
No mention of Anansi and the actor’s experience with the producers

Mr Nancy was too real for Hollywood

I really want this show to continue… like snow piercer, and locraft country and underground..

I tuned out halfway through the 2nd season of this show. The constant changes in writers and cast members really did a number on the show's tone.
It was fantastic I loved it .was very interesting and intelligent. Maybe why many people couldn't get it 😂

Yeah, this video could've been 2-3 minutes long. But the TH-cam algorithm prefers videos that are longer than that so they clearly stretched it.
Great out of the gate…obviously failure on all in charge for not supporting the show….
No one likes to be blamed for ruining something people loved…

Season 3 was awful
The cliffhanger, skip it.
The first season was the best. Yes the tone changed!!!
I'd say 1 and 2........3 just sucked @ss
Agreed @@NoneofyourBusiness-iv6pi
What about Orlando Brown and leaving the show made it worse

I own the first two seasons on Blu-ray
YET ANOTHER GREAT SHOW RUINED BY HACK ASSED WANNABE SHOW RUNNERS
Im nearly done with season 2 and its fine, season 1 was clearly better but its still .. ok.

What even is a "show runner"
Lead producer, lead writer, and usually directs pivotal episodes.
Season 2 was the problem of the whole show it’s so terrible that I skipped it altogether to go watch season 3 which is much better than season 2
Season 3 was boring Season 1 and 2 is the best
To much diversity, to much SJW extremism, to much unrealistic expectations…
Too much diversity? I don't recall any change in race or gender from the source material. That's just the cast of characters...
@@Joseph_Crawley The pan-sexual orgy scene was degenerate to say the least
