OL Buck is one of them. Here is a sad, but good story of his time. Thanks for watching. GOD BLESS. Note: pictures are to tell the story only. Such a heart touching story. As hard as those miners had to work there should not have been families struggling for food, clothes, shoes or anything else they needed. They should have been paid enough to have at least the basics in life. That's just not right. What a good man he was. I am sure that he had a great reward in heaven. Thanks for sharing, Donnie! Hope you have a great weekend and God bless!
Thanks so much my friend for sharing this. So true. God bless you.
I've never heard it said better, thank you. God bless all.
Had neighbor who daughter went to school barefoot her daddy an ol miner it broke my heart it was one room School house I shared only other pair shoes I had told my mamma there's a young girl with no shoes I didn't want her feet to get cold I could tell she was embarrassed ain't nothing about being poor to be embarrassed about may not been best shoes but she was mighty glad
🙄💔 Yes, there are 3 words that should NEVER be used together, not here in AMERICA or anywhere else actually, its
THE WORKING POOR ! 😡💔

Mr Jason C.,
Donnie's videos are wonderfull; ever' bit as wonderful as the toys Ol' Buck whittled for the Children.
One good Man, consistently an' faithfully making Life more pleasant for Many.
And Mr Donnie Laws..., I got to hand it You, Friend...; You're not only a Story Teller, You're a pretty good "Sound Man" and "Special Effects Man", too.
In this video, We hear that terrible rumblin' sound and see the Earth shaking as part of the mine gives way...
Well and realistically made, Donnie! Just like Buck's hand carved toys.

I just watched this one. Mr. Laws, you are one fine story teller and this must truly be your calling! I could sit and listen to you for hours. I’m a baby boomer too, right at the tail end, and a veteran as well. It breaks my heart that my parents and grandparents - aunts and uncles, are just about all gone. And it’s up to us to keep these stories alive for the younger folks. I don’t think most of them care half as much about these things as we do.😢 But as long as people like us are breathing, these stories will be kept alive and loved. I sure do appreciate you and your gift and just want to thank you again for sharing!
I understand my friend. God bless you. Thanks so much for sharing this. Your very welcome.

What a wonderful story! A simpler time. I have been reading a series of books by Carol Ervin called The Mountain Woman series and they are based on the West Virginia coal mines and lumber mills and the families who lived in these coal mine towns. Awesome story 👍 it is so true the coal miners had a hard life and I think that all of them had hearts of gold God Bless them all
Amen my friend. God bless the coal miner. Thanks for sharing this. Thank you.
Just the other day I listened to a story about how someone went from rags to riches and back to rags because of a myriad of mishaps and it got me to thinking. The unsung heros do their good deeds in secrecy. Keeps their egos within bounds so they don't get all swoll up with pride. Allows them to enjoy more and appreciate more.. Much can be said about shared joy. That was Buck's reward. Thank you, Donnie.
Thanks for sharing this my friend. Your very welcome. God bless you.

I'm sorry my friend. God bless you.
Ooh Mr Laws! This story touched my heart so! Made me cry. I remember my parents and others talking about the coal mines and hard times. Even today there are families & others struggling to keep food on the table and clothes on their backs. I remember when I was growing up on our farm, I’d always get some other girls hand-me-downs to wear. The other kids at school would laugh at me & make fun of me. But my mama kept me & my clothes clean….even though they were used! Thank you for sharing! A lot of folks back then had soft hearts & true grit!! Blessings always! ❤️✝️
WOW Thanks so much for sharing your memories my friend. God bless you. Your very welcome. Thank you.
Her clothes were old but never were they torn or dirty, Stevie Wonder, livin for the city
@@kenkrausse3624 Did I mention HER clothes????
I thought I was talking about my own clothes when I was a young girl.
It was a high compliment to your mother
@@kenkrausse3624 Oooh thank you so much. My mom & daddy we’re good people for sure. Daddy died when I was 15……….mom passed when I was 35.

Thanks for sharing your video 👍👍
Thanks, brother Donnie, that story really hit me at home, loss an uncle in the mine the same way, slab of slate cut him in half,,,, he was kept in the casket at home for five days and pennies were placed on his eyes, and old tradition,,i was about five years old and I took one of the pennies,,,,, I think that was the hardest beating I ever got,,,, yes them was very hard times back there in Lawrence county, KY,,,, but the good thing is that,,a lot of God fearing people came from it all,,, by eight years old I was singing in a family quartet in churches there about, and God has really blessed me with knowledge of his way, that has helped me escape from the evil world.
I'm so sorry to hear that my friend. God bless you. A lot of good men never come home. God bless the coal miner. Your very welcome my friend.
Great story will stay with me for a long time!
WOW Thanks so much my friend.
What a beautiful story my friend...
Thank you so much my friend.
I read as much as I could find on the Pruden, Eagon March tornado, completely devastating and very unexpected. I even read a story about an old mule that got to a door of a house and when they opened the door the old mule pushed himself inside and rode out the tornado in a cabin. He knew something bad was happening. Fascinating, sad story but what a blessing he became.
This was so good a real tear jerker thanks so much ❤
Thanks for sharing this my friend.
I want to say thank you for this little story. When I'd ask my mom if she wanted to go to the cemetery to visit my dad, she always replied 'what for, he's not there.' You reminded me of her saying that. It makes more sense now than it did back then. Also, thank you for all the videos you make, too. I really enjoy them. I love the names you've given all the little critters too 😂
WOW Thanks for sharing this my friend. God bless you. Your very welcome.

What a beautiful story, brother Donnie, bittersweet for sure, but an awesome reminder of what love and our L-rd can bring from a man's heart, even one struck by such tragedy. May G-d bless old Buck and his loved ones, and I'm so sure He's doing so right now. Many thanks and Shabbat Shalom, my brother. Thank you very much my friend. God bless you.
There must be so many similar stories, men and women doing everything they could to keep their family fed and clothed, and give them some happiness too. Every one of these kinds of stories should be preserved, and it's the essence of America: you work to get what you need, you share with those who have less, because in places where there aren't a lot of jobs, and you have to use your own hands to literally put food on the table. I remember your story about the wild turkey for the holiday: if you couldn't get it, there'd be no turkey.
That's so true my friend. Thanks for sharing this. God bless you.
