I have a like/hate relationship with the idea of a hardcore 1-life MMO concept. On one hand your achievements, goals, accomplishments, etc are FAR more meaningful especially with friends, and gaining a reputation among other players is damn satisfying. However, there WILL be people who don't give a shit about how much you adore your character and will likely kill them just for shits and giggles even if they know they will never get away with it, especially if their player is only 3 days old while yours is near a month.

Last minute scraping also happened to Borderlands, But on a MUCH larger scale. Instead of just the story and some related elements change like, everything but the core game was completely changed about 8 months before the game came out.
Technically Vacation normally still has to be paid out upon termination as an employee. So Kojima could still technically be considered on Vacation if he was fired? Until his accrued hours run out that is. Also I've even heard of instances where an employee is fired but is still being paid out for days they would have still had to work even though they are no longer physically working at the job, just because the company/employer doesn't want them there anymore.
Considering what i hear of the story in Kojima's games, i'm starting to think that this is all part of some surreal, elaborate artpiece. Kojima himself is the only one in on the joke.
lol I'm amazed at the Destiny thing. You'd think before you even start creating a game you'd want to create a well designed story and lore behind it and greenlight that then run with it. Once you decided on a story and lore you can't just be like "Oh I don't like that story anymore, scrap it." It's crazy to think they had artists, level designers and animators creating this futuristic world without having the story set in stone. Every aspect of the lore should be implemented into the art. It feels so shallow that they were even able to rip the story out of the world. Like the art was just a soul-less thing that had no story behind it. Yet, that's what Destiny was when it was released.
If One Life ends up being everything it promises, I think the division in players' morals in-game will be incredibly interesting. Maybe a group of experienced players of the genre will choose to take down another group of the same caliber who abuse new players in the game as some sort of vigilante group. The most likely outcome is that the best will bask in their power and take what they want when they want. All the same, it seems like an interesting social experiment if nothing else.

I'm looking into if they, along with the general exploitation of gamers, actually affects how gamers play and buy games. Lol it doesn't, everyone still buys from companies like EB... grr! The whole one life thing might work better if there was, ya know, a massive respawn time, i.e. a week. Then there would still be pressure to survive, but you wouldn't be throwing out large amounts of cash.
Basically, Konami doesn't want anyone else to have Kojima. Just the Kojima name is an asset, even if they never want to let him do anything ever again. I hope someone else acquires Kojima and his team soon.
as much as I play Destiny and I love it it's brought me a great group of friends it's a shame we didn't get to see it in its entirety I'm hoping Destiny 2 will be a better experience from the start

What's also nice about TF2's new weapons is, none of them are inherently better than the default weapons each class gets. Each new weapon has some nice upgrade, sure, but its balanced by a significant downgrade of some kind. Therefore, it's only better if the player is skilled enough to take advantage of the upgrade and compensate for the downgrade.
That Destiny story honestly sounds a lot like Doom, they had a whole story worked out, but after it being called cliche it got scrapped. You can find the story now via the Doom Bible.

I think that the general idea of one life is interesting. Without the deleting from your hard drive, could be cool. I think it would be better if it gave you a countdown timer until you can play again. Still would be bad, but not as much.
really if they want to make it so that you only get one chance to live they should maybe restart you from square one instead of making you buy the game again that's a bit harsh

That means the last year was used for the creation of the story and all the voice acting needed for the game. So they at the most they had 6 months before they needed the voice acting to start. I can't believe that the industry is able to screw the consumer this badly and people continue to pay for DLC and emotes for a game that has no story and gameplay as shallow as a freshman in high school.
I really don't like the whole "perma-death" idea. I'm not going to pay ten bucks if there's the possibility that I'm going to die in two seconds and never be able to play again. I think it would be better if, when you died, you just have to reset your character. That idea seems much more fair to me.
One Life really can be successful, but not at a 10 dollar price-point. You could definitely make bank on this with a smaller barrier to entry. Make the cost of it 50 or 99 cents. Those that die often, but immediately wanna jump back in to prove themselves will think, "This is a small price, so it won't be that big of a deal." It would literally be a modern-day arcade game. Oh, you died? Pay us 50 cents and you can play again! It's not a far-fetched idea, considering that it has been done before.
I like the concept of One Life, but I think it would be much better if they made it so that Servers reset every 45-60 days and everyone could get another chance. In concept, the game sounds awesome, but it's doomed to fail commercially unless there's some form of replayability, even if it's extremely limited.

Dodger, that apple may have had something on it to keep it from browning that the dog did not like the taste. If One Life was only 0.25 per life I would consider it, however a 10.00 per life I will never even consider it.
Dodger, about PAYDAY: They did an AMA in reddit explaining what's happening. What I understood was that since 2015 and the numbers of players still growing, they hired a new staff, and all the economic modifications they had, microtransactions and DLC, was because they have to profit a big amount of money in order to pay everyone, so they made it in "a way in wich benefits the player with the least P2W way possible for this kind of market". I still think it's bullshit, but it's part of a bigger problem.

I personally think that micro transaction on a full price game is a scam. DLC makes sense but micro transaction is just evil.

They did an AMA in reddit explaining what's happening. What I understood was that since 2015 and the numbers of players still growing, they hired a new staff, and all the economic modifications they had, microtransactions and DLC, was because they have to profit a big amount of money in order to pay everyone, so they made it in "a way in wich benefits the player with the least P2W way possible for this kind of market". I still think it's bullshit, but it's part of a bigger problem.
