The truth about this bass that I owned and sold : GOOD THINGS Sounds good Nice neck (a bit fat but works fine) Looks great but bigger than the orignal because it's not a shortscale bass Neck compensation on the end of the junction between neck and body (which is better than the Hofner and similar to the Epiphone) BAD THINGS Terrible tuners that you might want to change Terrible setting from Thomann, specially on the bridge Terrible frets that are sharps on the endings and needs a polish before you can actually play the bass Terrible pickup configuration that sounds out of phase everytime you put the 2 pickups together (so you have to mix one louder than the other one) Terrible strings, you have to change them with more serious ones

This bass actually used to be cheap back at the time. So i think there isn't big difference between that options, maybe only build quality is better in Hofner models
HF1600ie i havent played the harley benton but in my opinion when i played the Hofner ignition it felt cheap. It didn’t feel good to me but that’s honestly just my opinion.
I'm having the same doubt. In the video he says that the Hofner Ignition is x3 more expensive and is not much better than the Harley Benton, but I've also read that it's a better made bass...
Great stuff. Love your reviews of affordable gear. Any chance you could review the Harley Benton 210 and 115 bass cabs? They are very popular on Thomann but there is very little out there on the Internet about them.
I think the hofner contemporary would hypothetically have the least amount of neckdive since it has a block of wood in it. These types of basses will always have neck dive at varying extents so there's no escaping that.

That is a beautiful bass. But I have one complaint. What is with that ugly piece of tin holding the volume / control knobs. It does not match the curvy shapes of the guitar. It looks like an after thought and makes the guitar look cheap. What is it there for anyway. All my guitar's knobs sit alone. Pass it on to Harley Benton.
So this is a paid for advert folks. Just in case you thought it was an impartial review. No mention of the diabolical neck dive of course. Otherwise a fair ADVERT.
@@jazzman1954 played neck heavy basses all my life till now, even as a beginner I had neck heavy basses....so what, its the sound to me thats important ....the rest I can take care of with technique or physical compensation.....for example laying your right arm on the body while playing to use the weight of your arm to deal with neck heavy instruments ....always works good... for me at least....:)
@@reneflachsenhaar2968 Glad it works for you and it won’t affect the tone. It will however affect the left hand position. A bad left hand position limits the possibilities for technique.
