Better to live your dreams solo than to do nothing while waiting for someone. I am glad that in my 20s I stopped waiting and started chasing my dreams... I'd still be 55 and single, but without any fun along the way. I hope you find that special person, but I'm glad you're not letting being single stop you from living your dreams!!!
Been cruising for over 40 years. Can never depend on friends, lovers or crew. Have to learn to appreciate doing it on your own. Just the price of the lifestyle. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing. Glad to see you back and to reconnect. Going solo can be hard, and definitely lonely at time but like me you should never let it stop you from chasing your dreams. If you wait for that perfect moment, that perfect someone, you'll never make it out the door. Don't let life pass you by, great friends and great adventures await.
Love the woodwork on your boat. Myself and my wife are on our own, empty nest. Even on land we sometimes feel lonely. Hat's off to you for standing strong. God Bless ❤
I can totally relate to the comment that he was done doing it all along. Alone or single has its perks, no stress, no discussions etc. but sharing is human and all things shared is soo much better. The fun and even the pain! If you are ever in the Med, I would gladly join you.
So good to see you back. I am going to suggest that you change the bitter end of your rode. If the worst happens and it all runs, or worse the anchor catches and it all runs the bitter end is going to snap taut with the whole weight of the boat on it. Rather than a knot I would suggest a loop of heavy chain and a wired shackle and an eye splice with thimble in the end of the rode.
I'm sorry for the blue days your experiencing lately. I know loneliness can be so terrible. Keep surrounding yourself with friends and try something new you don't normally do to pull you outta the rut. Have you ever thought of sailing north up to Vancouver, Canada? It's an amazing place to live, work, play and visit. Especially Vancouver Island.
There are many places I plan to visit. Things I plan to see. I travelled around the world for 20 years in the Navy. Then drove 2.5 million miles around this country as a truck driver. Now, my plan is to take my boat and go see some more things, and go to more places, and experience more things. These are things that I can well do alone. However, as stated by the man who sold his boat and quit. I'd much rather share my experiences with someone that I care about. It really is much more enjoyable. I'm in the process of restoring/refurbishing a 1967 Grand Banks 36 Woodie. This summer, I plan to take short initial cruises to get the kinks worked out. Then travel extensively on my boat.
Kinda trippy...I very nearly emailed you last night to see if all was good and okay. Glad to see a post tonight! Hang in there Aubrey; learning to love my own company enough to not be lonely, even while alone, was one of the longest lessons since my divorce. I'm nearly there, but completely understand the chaps point - it's fun, right up until you realize there isn't someone to share it with.
There is a reason we sail alone at times. Not everyone is meant to live this life out here on the fringes of society in marinas and on oceans all over the world. It's finding the right person with the right temperament to share it with is the hard part. Some of us are just meant to be out here.. Some like it for a time. Some are just made for it..
For the battery charge situation, many times the battery monitor will not show full charge due to its calibration. My battery monitor does that when I have discharged below the lower limit. Check the Voltage reading on the monitor. Google up the manual for your batt monitor, it will tell you how to calibrate
I've enjoyed following your journey for a long time. I believe that most of us can benefit to a little time alone for reflection and personal growth. It appears, as I follow others in similar journeys that they surround themselves with new friends. You have the ability to share your unique experience with others. Do that and I'm certain that you will make a new connection with someone who shares your enthusiasm for adventure and exploration. Best of luck and smooth sailing.
Just me and the dogs is my preference nowadays..... After 20+ years serving in every cesspit my government sent me to I am more than done with most people, there are a few exceptions for sure but generally humans are the most fu*!ed species on the planet.... Being comfortable and content with your own company is like a superpower..... Enjoy your space and get comfortable with yourself . Live , explore and experience.... Fair winds and folloing seas.❤❤
Aubrey, You're brave, funny and full of positive life. Life sucks as you know, but you bring so much sunshine to so many people. Thank you for your adventures and happy safe sailing. x🙏🏼😊 P.S. Wishing 'Poodle' to get better soon.
Fun episode! You are living outside of the box and from the outside looking in you are living a cool and exciting lifestyle. I love it. Time heals all they say. That’s what we like to say. I hope the dog is feeling better. That’s a weird illness. Sail on and keep smelling the roses.
Heard you were in the La Cruz anchorage, but missed you when I went looking. We're in the middle of our 50-year refit on our Formosa 51, Lady Midnight, on Muelle 4 in the marina. I'm fascinated to see the changes between our 1975 Island Trader and yours. I'm sailing her north to Penasco at the June with a July 15 haulout date, but maybe our paths will cross in the Sea next fall. Take care.
Being Solo, is why I am selling my boat this year. You look to never be alone for very long and have lots of friends and happiness all around you. Have Fun.
I’ve single handed from Texas to Georgetown and back to Florida. The isolation can get pretty tough. I call it “acute loneliness “. It still blows my mind after all these years of looking, how difficult it has been to find someone that wants to go see. Anyway, nobody wants to live this life alone, but, don’t let being alone stop you from living it.
It’s true. My dating expeditions have been few and hilarious. I took this man sailing and I was so nervous about the date I just about sank the boat with a loose stuffing box nut!!! High bilge alarm screaming- comically he had know clue he had never been sailing. Over the years I’ve mastered this poker face for crew when things have gone wildly awry. Obviously Houdini is fine. It’s like I was 12 years old and forgot how to tie my shoes. It’s really a shame I didn’t film it🤣
@@SailingMissLoneStar Right! And when things do get rough, they don’t realize what is going on behind that poker face. I learned to know in about 37 seconds whether they are boat people or not boat people. Not boat people just can’t understand.
I gave up wanting to go to the Bahamas after my trip from VA to FL via the ICW. I saw so many amazing things along the way, but no one to look at, in that moment and say "Wasn't' that ****** incredible?" Now, I'm just a full-time live aboard on a 45 yr old sailboat. I bought a motorcycle in December just so I can have some freedom away from the boat whenever I want. That freedom now has my sciatica going off in both legs. This morning, it took me 20 minutes to get from the v-berth to the head. Doesn't look like I'll be able to share anything worthy of sharing with someone worthy of sharing it with for quite some time.

I'm praying for me with this shoe of chain castling. And truly the only way to resolve it is you need someone flaking the chain as it comes on board the boat. And I've had to do this with 30 lb per foot lengths. So it's always an easy task but I found one of the easiest way is with a gas and you just so many feet put to the left and so many feet push it to the right and reverse the process as you go good luck with that my dear I hope it's helpful if not I'm available for crew coming up in the end of June❤
Dear (..and other Pirates here): Just ran over your video, randomly... Funny! now that i'm just running through the same situation and feelings.. Just about to sell my wonderfull pirate-boat... my dog got wounded on the way, to that "dream" that was visibly not gonna happen, It has three legs.. a true pirate-doggy.. Now feeling stupid-selfish and guilty-of-that.. Having to face that damn reality: I love living on a pirate boat, sailling, and travelling... and to feel the wind bouncing the boat in the middle of a dark night... But i f***ng Hate being alone doing that! Now i wonder.. why, life brought me to this strange experience... don't know what else to drag out of it.. Like you're given a Ferrari without wheels.. what's the point? Achieving bitterness a little more? Is my guard-angel loose? Having 25 countries on my list, seems to me: "Fun-on-the-way" is smthg you'll fast-forget.. such as: "pretty-landscapes", "rare-experiences" "nice-people and cool-spots"! Well, i guess, there are obviously too many for a lifetime... And of course you could do anythng alone, with strength.. But if it's not "What-makes-you-happy"... then what ? "Cool! i'm super strong! "...and now? I could still run a YT channel, titled : " Bored in Heaven"? Or.. Give up.. and spend all the money of my boat into shit.. till i die...? Chasing dreams always was a funny activity... Would be nice to have your comments and advices, since before falling "randomly" ( a hazardous concept) on that video.. i was just wondering: " Where the f**k do you find a nice girl who'd love to sail the world ?" As we say in French: " Seuls les Pirates-rie" Cheers to all
Hi Aubrey, If you haven't yet solved your issue with your Renogy batteries and associated gear , I will reach out to you and help. Houdini is looking great. Chris & Stella -
I love your videos! you are way too pretty to be sailing around the world alone, if you ever want someone to go sailing with I am available, I don’t know how to sail a boat but am a very good windsurfer so I know the wind, I’m saving up for my own boat at the moment and it is my dream to sail the world 😘
When you admit you can’t do anything on your own, your channel might get better, till then, we are all here for the bikini shots. Even experienced sailors can’t single hand a 50’ boat. It’s like you think we are all stupid.
Being alone is not so bad if you embrace it. I was divorced for 15 years before I found my wife in Trinidad. We have been married now for 20 years. Love will find its way to you, but it is never on our time but on the universe’s calendar.
Alone does not mean lonely…….I get his point about the experiences alone though….I will say I like your channel when you are alone….Now get sailing!!!!
I came back to your channel and was pleasantly surprised with this episode. It felt nice. Like your introspective thots have caused growth. Hang in there. I'll be back❤️
I wish I could buy a sailboat and just get away from everything. Also how are you liking the Starlink internet?? I hope your doing well and being safe.
Yep... Somehow the experience isn't fulfilling without someone to share and reminisce later in the journey. Running alone is do-a-ble untill... shit happens, wind, repair, long passages and no extra third hand. ⛵ "Sailcat Reality" 🌴 🏖 ⛵
Never buy anything renogy. Worst CS ever.
Agree!!!!!

So good to see you back. I am going to suggest that you change the bitter end of your rode. So it's always an easy task but I found one of the easiest way is with a gas and you just so many feet put to the left and so many feet push it to the right and reverse the process as you go good luck with that my dear I hope it's helpful if not I'm available for crew coming up in the end of June❤
Thank you yes that’s what I’ve been doing buts it’s near impossible alone
Dear (..and other Pirates here):
Just ran over your video, randomly... Funny! now that i'm just running through the same situation and feelings..
Having 25 countries on my list, seems to me: "Fun-on-the-way" is smthg you'll fast-forget.. such as:
"pretty-landscapes", "rare-experiences" "nice-people and cool-spots"!
Would be nice to have your comments and advices, since before falling "randomly"
( a hazardous concept) on that video.. i was just wondering:
" Where the f**k do you find a nice girl who'd love to sail the world ?"
As we say in French: " Seuls les Pirates-rie"
Cheers to all
Hello beautiful hello aubrey, Hello doug, Goodbye Doug, Happy solo selling aubrey.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Aubrey,
If you haven't yet solved your issue with your Renogy batteries and associated gear , I will reach out to you and help.
Houdini is looking great.

Alone is a state of mind, not a situation.
Hang in and hang on girl. If you can keep the breathing going eventually the rest might fall in place.
I'm feeling your sadness. I'm shopping a live-a-board cruiser and it sure would be funner with a partner.
Well done. Hope you the best and also for Poodle.
Love that Wharram Pahi next to the whale calfs
Also love to swoon
Welcome back Aubrey.
Thank you!
You're so very welcome 😀@@SailingMissLoneStar
We never know what we want just what we think we want🤔😳. Life is an adventure the rear view mirror can be humorous , disappointing and fantastic. ❤❤❤❤
Being alone is not so bad if you embrace it. I was divorced for 15 years before I found my wife in Trinidad. We have been married now for 20 years. Love will find its way to you, but it is never on our time but on the universe’s calendar.
Do you offer any charters? I have always loved to experience sailing.
I am thinking about it!
Great video 😊
Don't give up the dream!☺
I won't...
Alone does not mean lonely…….I get his point about the experiences alone though….I will say I like your channel when you are alone….Now get sailing!!!!
:)
booking me trip to Mexico now ahah
I came back to your channel and was pleasantly surprised with this episode. It felt nice. Like your introspective thots have caused growth. Hang in there. I'll be back❤️
Groovy episode.
what happened to the other channel? Aubrey's vlog?
It is on sailingmisslonestar.com
I have been there. Just not that much fun alone. I've pretty much quit sailing
It is way more common than I thought BUT nobody talks about it!
Sounds dangerous...
I wish I could buy a sailboat and just get away from everything. Also how are you liking the Starlink internet?? I hope your doing well and being safe.
Im sure the kids and the close friends will always be ready to sail away with you.
It's true:)
Is Eek vulnerable to sunburn?
Oh my gosh yes. He has a sun shirt and I don’t let him bake for too long. Raspberry oil works as a good sunblock as well.
complimenti i, prossimo per tue nuove avventure , in compagnia del mare
Hang in there girl.
Why solo? Where are the kids?
Whale of a time. . . .laughed about that line
Why not give Doug a chance?
ON ON !!
Thought this was about sailing alone. Clickbait.
I haven't tried that "I am so lonely and unfulfilled" line on a chick yet but if some hot chick shows up on a dinghy . . .
Nuovo compagno di avventure in mare
Prayers for poodle
I'd love to join you as a crew n learn how to sail. It's my biggest dream
Yep...
Somehow the experience isn't fulfilling without someone to share and reminisce later in the journey.
Running alone is do-a-ble untill... shit happens, wind, repair, long passages and no extra third hand.
