I just started playing and have gotten two royale wins. I just play like I would in borderlands.
Upgrade while moving
Keep out of sight until I have a shot
If I'm spotted, keep moving until I can turn it around on them or they lose interest
Don't waste ammo on long shots
They aren't the best rules for this, it is a different game after all, but if you want to play defensively then it works pretty good.

I am totally new to this, but my friends really want me to join them. I always say its important to invest in social bridges. I find the whole building aspect of this video a bit exhausting. But its all muscle memory and practice. 🤪
Just play the no build mode its much better.

@@erbyzyrealcuh Yeah. I understand the fun of build mode, it is a very unique gameplay style that does take a lot of mechanical skill, but it is tedious and its nice to have an option for a more traditional mode.

Almost 30 and just started playing a few days ago without a clue of wtf I was doing 😂🤦♀️ aim not the best but improving. I've placed 2nd a few times but no wins yet! I haven't built yet so I appreciate the heads up on the battle lab mode so I can practice.
In battle mode - are people able to kill me and make me lose points? Or how does that part work? Maybe I'll Google 😆
I'm 33 and started playing last week! I don't like building so I don't use that and I've managed to get a few #1 victories so far!

Im new and have no idea how to build or anything and it's so frustrating. I think I am getting the hang of it but don't understand so much. Like how to change skins, do I have to actually buy them? What is battle pass? I'm just lost
Just play the no build mode, its much more straight forward and less gimmicky.
You change skins in the locker section of the menu.
Skins are bought through the store menu. What's available rotates every so often.
The battle pass is in the store. As you gain XP through play you get battle pass currency to unlock tiers. Each tier gives you a new skin or cosmetic. You can bank up this currency before buying then use them later if you like.

So many "beginner" fortnite videos have spastic button smashing construction workers. Seeing clips like those is not confidence inspiring lol. Seeing those clips = "Wtf is going on?"

I'm 40 and my first (and probably last) try of Fortnite went something like this:
"Updates and updates... finally. How small are these text, I can't see a thing. This is meant to be played with smartphone, right? I need a magnifying glass. Oh there's a play-button. What, no tutorial? What is that countdown? Am I supposed to do something now or just wait until the game starts? What's that.. it jumped and now floats? What's this, a parachute? Oh so I'm falling. I can toggle parachute on and off? I don't think that's how parachutes work, but nevermind. This is taking too long. Oh, I can take parachute off and dive? Ok, I'll do that. Okay, I'll go there, seems nice and quiet, maybe pull out the chute in the last moments. Well I landed. How do I move.. oh, right turns and left thumb runs. What, I got a pick axe? Is this a tool or a weapon? Don't we get firear... oh snap, I think that tiny text just said that someone killed someone with a submachine gun? And now sniped, they have sniper rifles? This is like everyone kills everyone I've heard. How am I going to go there with a pick axe, they have smg's and sniper rifles, and I can't even walk straight. The most sensible thing is to hide. Here behind this tree, now is there some inventory, maybe I need to select a real weapon somewhere... No, are they lying around? But I can't go up there, there are maniacs running around with machine guns and sniper rifles! Hey, is there someone coming here? Has he seen me behind this tree? He's not hunting treasures, he's here to kill me, right? No way, I'm shutting this game down before I get killed. There. What an ordeal. That wasn't a very nice game".
..and I did not get any wiser after watching this video. Is there a video for like, grandma's how to play this game?

This was me too 😭 i think your best bet is to play as a duo with someone who knows the major aspects of the game, because thats the only way i was able to understand.

The 4th pig was given a bunch of mats. He learnt to build giant houses with them and snipe the wolf as soon as it blew them away.

Don't know what to do? Land, get full health and shields, collect loot, then explorer map hideout to end game. It's easy.
