    Good to see you back,never tire of magnificent scenery in your vids.True gent pulling the stranded motorist out of the snow,wouldn't happen in my part of the world most likely wind the window down and shout something in French ha ha.People like the sound of snow chains,the engine brake sounds better is it a Jake Brake.Not sure if Jakes are fitted on Scannias,anyways safe motoring,stay warm in your very nice truck.

    Hello. New subscriber in USA State of Georgia, where there is no snow and 100 degree weather. Totally awesome to watch your videos, the snow and beauty of your country. Over the last few months my twin sister and I have watched trains, planes, buses, but your truck videos have been the best in showing the country side. Your mild weather would shut us down. It's hard work for you so thanks for sharing the trips.

      Thank you very much Mark 😊👍 I will do my very best to continue making these little videos 😉 just a remark, I know a lot of the footage, seems to be at night, because of the darkness obviously 😁 but mid winter this far north, only holds around 4 hours of daylight, from 10am to 2pm, the remaining 20 of the day it is pitch black 😉
      Whereas June and July, it is daylight 24 hours above the Arctic Circle 🤗

    Good video and nice views. You even had a picture of Stetinden (voted to be Norway's national mountain ). I know these places in the north since it's my home. The land north of the moral circle and the land of the midnight fun. You seem to get local knowledge of the places, the roads and weather conditions .... and know how to deal with it. Not every foreign truck driver can say that..... Nothing can replace experience and knowhow. In Kirkenes you delivered some stuff at a "factory" - as you call it. To me it look like KIMEK (Kirkenes Mekaniske) - a ship yard that delivers repair and maintainace to the maritime sector - specially to the fishing fleet and to the offshore/oil sector in the Barents Sea. It's used both by Norwegians and Russians. So Kirkenes is an important and high competent center. I guess you noticed that the street signs are also in Russian. If you go to the library you will meet Russians working there and they have a whole section with books in Russian. There are quite a lot of Russians living in this area. Some time back I saw a number that around 25% of all marriages in Finnmark region are between Norwegian men and Russian woman. For hundreds of years there has been influx of Finnish people to this region. At places like in Bugøynes they, still today, are Finnish speaking. In addition you also have the Sami population - with their own language. So in this region you will have the meeting of 4 different languages that coexist side by side. So people there are multilingual and multicultural. I say this to make people - that see this - aware of that this area is not an empty wildernes with a few people living in isolation and in the past. The reality is quite different I can also say that no other place in the world will you find a modern infrastructure so far north. It's equally far norh as the north shore of Alaska - for example. it's a quite large area called Troms og Finnmark fylke ( county ) with an area of 75000 sq. km. In comparison is Denmark 43000 sq.km. The distance from end to end - along the main road (E6) - is around 1000 km. So it's good that there comes a Danish guy who like to be a part of the logistics - in order to keep things going up here in the north. So take care and drive safe.....

    • @Slipse
      @Slipse  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the additional info on the Finnmark region.. Awesome 😊👍👍👍 I did mention in the video, that Kimek is a shipyard, but yes saying inside the factory, was a bit off.. it should have said workshop 😉
      The fishing vessel, that was being sandblasted in the background, was in fact a Russian vessel.
      I love Norway, specially the north, and I've always felt very welcomed there 😊🤗

      Hi Raymond, thank you for your comment 😊👍 the truck you saw this morning, was most likely from the Danish department of N&K Spedition, or maybe one of the Dutch trucks working for N&K Spedition Norway... Most of trucks going south, are with a 2 axle truck and 3 axle trailer, to fit for the European weight limits..
      In Scandinavia, we can weigh up to 50 ton with a 3 axle truck, and a 3 axle trailer, but as soon as we cross the border south of Denmark, we are limited to the 40 ton total weight, like every one else, and since our trucks are heavier, we will have limited payload weights..
      If you take my truck as an example, because I have the side opening fridge trailer, with 2 temperatures campartments, my empty weight is 22 ton, which only allows me to load 18 ton south of Denmark..

      Hi James 😊 no I just put them on for extreme conditions, ie when doing steep climbs, in slippery conditions. Or when in a convoy drive, where the snowplow people, decides that every one must be chained up. Seriously good winter tires are key up here, and mandatory during the winter season on all axles 😊👍

      @@Slipse I have driven in harsh winter weather but, not even remotely like the roads you drive. I'm seriously impressed. I had the opportunity to drive a truck like yours in Kranj, Slovenia. I was on vacation, and I missed my stop for Ljubljana, I had to wait for the next train back to Ljubljana, while waiting I started walking around, I saw a truck and started taking pictures, the driver motioned (I guess he was asking if I wanted him to take a picture with me and the truck), anyway, I showed him the pictures of the truck I drive in the USA, he then let me drive his truck around the block, I was wearing a dress but, I still drove it. It was awesome! Take care, and be safe.

    its gonna be my first winter now as truck driver so i have a question. do u put chains only on outer drive axel wheels on on inner ones too?

    • @Slipse
      @Slipse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hei Bjørn 😊 I have avoided the use of chains on the inner wheels, due to 2 reasons, first if they are needed, it is usually so bad conditions, that pulling over is safer, and wait out the situation an hour or two, or even go to bed, the situation will most likely be better then, in the end you might save time, and not risking life, limbs or damaging your truck.
      The second reason is, on the white Scania and the one I drive now, I have Onspot chains, so I already have chains for the inner tires, just by pressing a button 😊👍
      But my best advise is to follow what other Scandinavian truckers do, and you will be fine, I wish you a safe winter season, maybe our paths will cross 😊👍

      @@Slipse thx for answer. Yeah i understand and seen that most of guys only put chains on outer wheels. I watch alot of videos and i see that there is no shame in driving 40-50 on open road when there r harsh conditions. Thx one more time for answer and advices

    From Grahame in Holland:
    You always have me sitting in the passenger seat Slipses. Your vlogs keep taking me back to being on the road during the 80's.(as you already know).
    When you were re-loaded and your gene wanted to turn left into Russia I can understand totally. I would feel the same, every time.
    Only a fellow long haul truck driver can fully understand why you want to see what's around the next bend and over the next hill. It's in the blood.
    Keep well, stay safe, and keep on the black bit between the two green bits my friend.

      Yes, winter up north is pretty dark 😁 with only around 4 hours of daylight in December and beginning of January north of the Arctic Circle..

    Very nice video. Do you use any gimbal for stabilization or only some electronics inside the camera?
    A couple of small typo mistakes at 8:10 and 8:17. It is Hamnvik not Hamvik. The other is Sørrollnes not Sørollnes. The road between those two places are not exactly very suited for trucks ...very narrow and hilly as they are. If it is some comfort for you I can say it was much worse some years back....

    • @Slipse
      @Slipse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dan 😊 thanks for the comment 👍 No, no gimbal is used, it's just Dashcam and my Sony Xperia phone. You are right about the roads out there, but I the alternative, driving over land via Sjøvegan, is a worse option 😁
      Sorry about the spelling errors, it happens 😁

    Your truck has some excellent headlights. Exceptionally bright when on high-beams. Why do not trucks in the US and Canada have lights like yours?

    • @Slipse
      @Slipse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That will have to be answered by a US trucker, because I have no idea?
      I've just noticed, when watching pictures and videos of US trucks, that you never see them fitted with extra lights, like the highbeams I have mounted above the windscreen..

    • @XxGyromancerXx
      @XxGyromancerXx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can answer that for you. The newer Volvos have seriously bright low beam LED headlights. I'm always having to deal with other people flicking their high beams at me thinking the low beams are on high. They're in for quite the shocker when I decide to flick mine at them. :P In North America, Volvo is always ahead of the curve when it comes to having the brightest headlights on the road. In the 00s, they had some of the most nasty bright halogen lights. I always knew when a Volvo driver was coming behind me. Same situation in this current age when every truck maker is using LED headlights. However, the other manufacturers are behind the curve when it comes to the brightness of their LED lights, or whoever they get the bulbs from.
      Trucks over here have extra lights. Fog lights since some drivers aren't very content with having only two for whatever reason. It's more for looks rather than practicality and usefulness. I guess it's either those or be dependent on high beams, blinding just about everybody in return. I suppose it's a give/take situation.
