Great pairing!! Looking forward to the Swamp Dragon and the 914 engine builds!! Looks like Darrin is also a killer cook apart from being a killer mechanic! That BBQ looks scrumptious!!
The black VW dual carburetors of the beetle has been change the advance timing the distributor - Then would you tighten a little on the distributer to the engine? That way while driving it, the distributor will not turn accidently.
trick is, making sure the casting seams are all smooth, make sure there's no oil on anything, then "gasgacinch" snot every mating surface, all rubber ends, where they touch the nylon tube and head/block, including the slide part (not inside the tube of course!) light silicone would probably work also, never tried :)
Very nice! Just get it right before you make your recording. Not so nice too see plug wires installed and fiddling to start. Looks so nice, could not wait to see the start. Would like too hear a nice exhaust system on your very neat vw. Enjoy your hard work
Man. That guy had one sweet car. Nice work! Ps...love my $40 hf stand. Lol. I welded the vw adaptor to it for my buggy project. Works super well for the price. It certainly ain’t fancy, but it works well.
still have yer boxster? i have a couple of em an been a bug nut forever .... do a build? use a 911 body install a boxster trans and jus to piss the purists off even more convert from fuel injection to carbed essentially makin a carbbed cayman? my dream car... i have the 911 an boxster i jus need carbs and some knowledge .... currently in plannin stages
darrin.....I live up by the villages here in florida....im looking for a vw bu 68-70.....with good pans and heater channels....do you have one availible or do you know someone....I tried facebook and there is nothing but overpriced junk
Quick question, where did you? Or customer get that rear apron? I'm guessing removable? Would love to get one for my super. Killer bug btw. Love your vids.
@@vwdarrin Thank you sir! It's probably a different model from the one i saw on here too. Anyways, that engine is among the best running i've seen here, but i guess it's no surprise! :)
Heard you were having some car problems if you need some help let me know don’t know if you got everything sorted out or not Andrea’s number is still the same I think you still have it
VW Darrin - The Mex-beetle sounds good ! CT thats a kick @ss sand blaster you got ! I looked at one yesterday and it takes a big compressor . You could sandblast Rusty . ?!@#$%%%^^&*
My FIRST car was a ''73 Super Beetle. Vapor locked the motor... threw some '70 1500cc pistons in it, and beat the crap out of it! Laid rubber in first, second, and solid chirp from third. approx 70 MPG!!! YES 70! (ONLY other change was float bowl vent removed, and timing retarded by ear.) Top speed was 93MPH
None of this sounds true, vapor lock is when the fuel in the boils and the carb doesn't get enough gas to run. It doesn't ruin a motor maybe you are thinking oh hydro locking. Also going to smaller pistons, isn't going to give you enough power to break the tires loose.
VW Darrin is in his element... Doing his thing! Thanks for sharing!
This is the smoothest and sexiest sounding flat four i have heard , my God this thing is glorious to the ear.

Great job, lovely from Tanzania 🇹🇿
Al most ready...it will be nice a video driving that bug at 75mph, showing the tach, temp, and oil pressure....Can’t wait, can’t wait....👍🏻

Love these startups! Good seeing you both.
Darn now im hungry. lol V dub sounds good brother.
Great video guys!! Very cool... I also have had bad experience with the spring loaded pushrod tubes.

Ive always thought of two piece tubes as a way to replace a leaking tube by just removing the rocker arm and pushrod and not having to pull the head.

That distributor rotor should have a round and square dow, so it only fits one way?
The cap only fits on one way also.

Motor sounding good
I see you put cool tins on this engine, is that because of the bigger displacement or because they cool better in general
Alright Im not the only one who times the engine after its running.
My daughter, 13, wants a beetle so we can work on it and have one to drive.
Awesome!!!

What spring/bushing combo are you running in the magnaspark?
Quick question, where did you? Or customer get that rear apron? I'm guessing removable? Would love to get one for my super. Killer bug btw. Love your vids.
this is a Mexican beetle , the apron is original to the car , they drove it to Fla to have it restored
the bug is cool but that nova in the back ground, lets do a video on that.......
What exhaust system is vwdarrin using here? Sounds good, man!
It is a vintage speed exhausted
@@vwdarrin Thank you sir! It's probably a different model from the one i saw on here too. Anyways, that engine is among the best running i've seen here, but i guess it's no surprise! :)
Sounds really nice - what exhaust system you have on this engine?
Looks like a Vintage Speed
Love the channel! Question. Loctite rod nuts/bolts or no Loctite? I’ve seen you use it in the past wondering if you still recommend that.
nice job
hi very nice vd
I like this kind
Is that a super beetle?
Are you close to Ocala?
About 40 minutes from Ocala. Contact Andrea if you want to come by. Andreab@thegourmetchocolatier.com
Awesome day
Where u are located. U sell vw engine?
Just curious what exhaust is on this beast?
Vintagespeed exhaust. A 4 into 1 header is always better.
